Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: AxlReznor on April 11, 2010, 05:41:36 PM Wow... I'd hoped he'd be mainly doing stuff from the album and a few tracks from each of his other bands. Looks like he's relying almost entirely on his back-catalogue here. Sucks.
If I was actually there, I'd probably enjoy myself. But not so much as if he played more from the album he's supposed to be promoting! Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Bodhi on April 11, 2010, 06:06:56 PM Wow... Im sure when he starts the tour hell probably play more of the new stuff. But lets be honest, anytime you see a band you really like when do you ever really want to hear more than 3 or 4 new songs? There are bands Ive seen who put out great new albums, but id still rather hear my favorite songs. At most shows when the artist starts off the sentence with "this is a new song" thats when beer/bathroom runs happen. Nobody there just became a fan of Slash because of this solo album, we know why they are there. I wont bitch if he wants to play "Nightrain" or "Paradise City" instead of "Ghost", I dont think anyone in attendance would complain about that. Slash being in the building is "promoting" the solo album. He is not going to sell records based off of performances of the new stuff. If someone has spent the 40-60 bucks to see Slash in concert im pretty sure they spend the 10 bucks on the cd already, or at the very least downloaded it for free. The only times in recent memory that I enjoyed a band playing a lot of new songs was Metallica on the "Death Magnetic". As good as every song is on that album, I would still rather hear "Battery" or "Creeping Death" if given the choice. Check that, Green Day played a lot of new tracks on their "Breakdown" tour, and that was really good. So there are exceptions. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: D on April 11, 2010, 06:30:16 PM That Civil War kicked fucking ass
Seeing Slash on Nightrain is one of the greatest sites to ever behold Myles does a great job as well. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Voodoochild on April 11, 2010, 06:32:54 PM Yeah, that was a really cool performance of the song.
Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: D on April 11, 2010, 06:37:47 PM I am convinced.. get Myles in VR
fuck Alter Bridge Myles.. they turned on u and went back to Creed. Repay the favor and come to VR. Got Damn, look at Paradise City Slash has been hitting some weights. he is pretty buff. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: oldgunsfan on April 11, 2010, 07:35:19 PM That Civil War kicked fucking ass Seeing Slash on Nightrain is one of the greatest sites to ever behold Myles does a great job as well. i dont think slash is getting as much credit as he deserves for how well he's been playing and myles does do a great job; get him in a studio recording that album "The Project" did with Izzy before Scott but bring Adler in on drums Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: FunkyMonkey on April 11, 2010, 09:35:23 PM "LAwomanPhotography" has started to post her videos...they're better.

Good work. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: metallex78 on April 11, 2010, 10:00:20 PM Myles is wearing a hat similar to Axl's when they open up with Dirty Little Thing... :hihi:
I'm still not quite sold on his vocals on the GN'R songs, but he sings the Velvet Revolver stuff better than Scott did live. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: faldor on April 11, 2010, 10:17:48 PM Eddie Trunk loved the show.
therealedtrunk - Paradise City, Slither, unbelievable. If someone asks me the best show I've seen recently an easy answer: Slash and his new band! about 17 hours ago via txt therealedtrunk - Slash killing Civil War now. This is the best show I have seen in a long time. Unreal! about 18 hours ago via txt therealedtrunk - Watching Slash play live at The Roxy. Sounds amazing! Doing Mean Bone by Snakepit now! Myles Kennedy sounds great! about 18 hours ago via txt therealedtrunk - Hanging at Key Club for Steven Adler. Then seeing Slash at Roxy. Caught a band called Age Of Evil earlier, very promising. about 21 hours ago via txt Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Voodoochild on April 11, 2010, 10:32:51 PM i dont think slash is getting as much credit as he deserves for how well he's been playing I actually loved the Civil War video because of him. His tone reminded me much more the studio recordings than his usual live sound. Really great playing also.and myles does do a great job; If this thing ever surfaces, this would be the best opportunity. I dunno about Adler (I just don't think they would fire Matt), but this is the perfect moment to bring back those tracks with Izzy.get him in a studio recording that album "The Project" did with Izzy before Scott but bring Adler in on drums Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Naupis on April 11, 2010, 10:50:53 PM Eddy Trunk had better watch it, he is sounding like a Slash fanboy. :nervous:

They won't find another vocalist as good as him, and he's still relatively unknown too, so no big ego I'm guessing. If Duff and Matt agree on him, maybe VR could return even stronger than before... Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Limulus on April 12, 2010, 02:54:53 AM with his background there are many good songs to be incdluded in the setlists, this can get a very cool tour!
Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: jacdaniel on April 12, 2010, 03:23:08 AM Get Myles in VR.
He rocks on the GNR songs! awesome show. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Nikki_Sixx on April 12, 2010, 05:02:41 AM While obviously a gifted singer, it doesn't really work for me when other people sing GNR songs. Still, it's amazing to hear Slash do them again. Slash really is on fire.
It works both ways, seeing Slash doing the GNR stuff really shows how much difference it makes who's in the band. While the people currently in GNR are also obviously amazing musicians, you can't beat the real thing ! Makes you crave even more for what could have been... ... anyway, excited to see this in Europe, in my opinion a unique tour that can't be missed ! Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: jacdaniel on April 12, 2010, 10:34:47 AM yeah, i don't see why some people are complaining! Myles is awesome and it looks like Slash was right bout being limited by Scott.
Can't wait to see a similar show to this. Title: Re: Surprise show ROXY APRIL 10TH Post by: Naupis on April 12, 2010, 11:46:09 AM Myles sounds amazing on SCOM.

Although pinkpop is great for the larger crowd. a performance in the melkweg/paradiso would be much cooler. |
