Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: CheapJon on March 26, 2010, 10:19:16 PM this song is pretty damn good, much better than i expected, then again.. i'm fuckin drunk, do not trust my judgement ;D
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: faldor on March 26, 2010, 10:19:47 PM That's a definite contender to take over as my least favorite track on the album so far. I really struggle to find anything redeeming from that song.

I'll go down a six pack and see if it sounds any better.Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Bodhi on March 26, 2010, 10:29:50 PM That's a definite contender to take over as my least favorite track on the album so far. I really struggle to find anything redeeming from that song. yeah this is the track I am least interested in, Cornell does nothing for me. Im going to wait till the record comes out to listen to this. Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Bill 213 on March 26, 2010, 10:41:06 PM I think I like this most so far....definitely has a cool laid back vibe to the song yet still punchy and catchy at the same time. This doesn't sound like a "Soundgarden/Guns 'N Roses" mashup as one may think....it's a cool song on it's own.
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Smoking Guns on March 26, 2010, 11:15:01 PM I dig it, I think its very "cool".
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Genesis on March 26, 2010, 11:35:17 PM Very average. I guess I didn't expect anything more from this track.
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: faldor on March 27, 2010, 12:48:12 AM I think I like this most so far....definitely has a cool laid back vibe to the song yet still punchy and catchy at the same time. This doesn't sound like a "Soundgarden/Guns 'N Roses" mashup as one may think....it's a cool song on it's own. That's probably why I don't like it. It sounds like solo Chris Cornell, which never did anything for me save for maybe a song or two. I would've much preferred a Soundgarden/GNR mashup. Well, they can't all be winners.Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: WTTJ_91 on March 27, 2010, 04:44:10 AM Expected more from Chris big time, guitar work isn't too bad but this could have been a lot better.
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: AxlReznor on March 27, 2010, 05:09:23 AM Chris Cornell is one of my favourite vocalists of all time. Even the godawful album with Timbaland was slightly redeemed by his voice and melodies. And in my opinion, he hasn't let me down with this track. I'd probably put this just below Beautiful Dangerous and Watch This.
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: hartman on March 27, 2010, 06:17:00 AM This song is fantastic!
I saw the lyrics at mygnrforum.com, the song is certainly for Slash's kids: The first time I ever saw you You had that far away look in your eyes And heaven's eyes shine down upon you And the whole room filled up with light Now the cruel world its gonna try and change you Try to hang you up and mess with your pride Now the rich (???) how to chain you You got to keep your fire burning inside Promise me you won?t let them put out your fire Now sometimes the world tries to slap you And it seems to love watching you fall I wont lie to you, its gonna happen You got to pick yourself up and move on Promise me you won?t let them put out your fire Solo Which star will I be thinking of tonight (?) Tonight Promise me you won?t let them put out your fire Promise Me (Why don?t you) Promise Me (Why don?t you) Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: AxlReznor on March 27, 2010, 07:20:37 AM Or it could be for Chris' kids. :P
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: gnrjanus on March 27, 2010, 07:37:35 AM any good rip yet?
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Axlfanatic on March 27, 2010, 08:21:49 AM any good rip yet? good song. that's it. like the rest of the songs- servicevable. forgettable. the only song i can picture head bobing down to the highway on is "GHost"with Ian Asbury. that song get me excited . Meh. again i could take one leave this one. i thing the Slash lites are getting carried away with this their love for these songs because they want so bad to love them. most are instantly forgettable , but not bad and again servicable. IMO, nobody will care in a few mos. It pains me to say this beceause i really really wanted love this album. lika i luve CD, but it's just not happenimg, nothing wrong, just nothing that stellar, more of a novelty. Can't say. I expect More of Slsh though. he just wants to play & have fun. more power to him! & I always like hearing his solos& distinct sound. I will pick this CD up when it comes out & give it multiple listens on a killer sound sytem & see if my opionin changes. :smoking: Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: IzzyDutch on March 27, 2010, 08:46:35 AM To me, with the exception of 1 or 2 songs, CD was nothing special.. both VR albums were nothing special.. but the new Slash album sounds great so far. Definetly his best work since Snakepits (his playing was really good on there, but the rest of the band weren't that great imo).
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: CheapJon on March 27, 2010, 10:36:02 AM I still like this song : ok: and i don't even like chris cornell :hihi:
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: faldor on March 27, 2010, 10:52:01 AM I still like this song : ok: and i don't even like chris cornell :hihi: Have you sobered up or are you still drunk?Again, after first listen I was not impressed by this song. But we'll see. It's rare a song blows me away the first time around so I can't be too hard on it. Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Bill 213 on March 27, 2010, 11:33:24 AM But I don't think it's a "blow you away" kind of song. I think it's just a song you listen to and enjoy it for what it is. The Ozzy song isn't too bad either. I think this will be a neat album.

I really didn't like the song after hearing it once. Maybe I can warm up to it. I'm quite certain it will never blow me away.Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: Pine Barrens on March 27, 2010, 12:16:59 PM This might be the most obvious post of the day, but I fucking love that sonng! Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: audjon on March 29, 2010, 05:28:25 PM I absolutely love it. The early reviews shattered my hopes for that track, and therefore it was a pleasant surprise.
Title: Re: Promise now streaming Post by: CheapJon on March 30, 2010, 12:14:33 PM promise is easily one of my favorites
