Hope you enjoy your time in beautiful Brazil   I'm not sure I get the "beef" deal, is there something I'm missing?  I know when we visited Portugal Cow's were sacred, does it have anything to do with that aspect?  I love good coffee as well, and I bet that is some great stuff indeed!!

I am very jealous of Jarmo right now, I'd love to be there.  ;)

The thing about Jarmo I admire is whatever Country he is in, he throws himself into the local traditions and culture. I'm like this myself when I travel to see GN'R.

Glad you're having a blast Jarmo.  : ok:

I, too, agree! And it's good because seeing him doing this, it kind of breaks that image most people have of Finnish people (jarmo's finnish, right?) that they're cold and "on their own". Jarmo seems like a very nice guy to have some drinks with! I'd like to have some caipirinhas with him, and see who can get out of the bar walking straight!  :hihi:

Jarmo, eat a brigadeiro, only in Brazil you'll find it!  : ok:

I would to advice to Jarmo eat acai . ;D

Already had the ice cream!

The reason all those foods are on the plate is because I was at a buffet.

Apparently all the dishes are from the north east of the country. Or so I was told and I believe anything I hear.

Poor jarmo, he will come back home 50 pounds fatter if he eats everything we tell him to!

Hey, brazilians, are you complaining about politicians? You're the strongest country in the zone and one of the potential leaders of the world in the next years...

We have major problems regarding corruption. But I think you know that. I know we're the strongest country of SA, maybe Latin America, in therms of politics and international relations, but still there is a long way to go to become a serious country with serious politicians. But that's a population's education issue too. For instance, there's a site (http://www.mcce.org.br/) where you can sign/vote on a campaign to only make eligible politicians who don't have a bad record with justice. Currently there's something like 1.5 million signatures and, last week, the lastest elimination on Big Brother Brazil had more than 80 million votes. So, what I'm trying to say, is that we will never be a really strong country with honest politicians who really represents all the brazilians if the population don't turn things around and start to be interested in politics, and learn how to and the importance of the vote. This year is presidential ellection year, but all people care about is the next Football World Cup.

But let's say I'm glad I don't live in Venezuela or Bolívia. No country deserves the presidents those countries have.  :'(

Not sure about that. But it reminds me a joke:

God was creating the world and then when he set up to make Brasil:
- Ok, I'm putting this wonderful forest here. Then, some beautiful beaches here.. What else? Oh yeah, lot different fruits.. shiny sun...
Then, an angel came around and said:
- But, Lord! Why are you doing it? This is gonna be another heaven!!!
And the God said:
- No way! Wait a minute and you'll see what kind of politicians I'm throwing there!!! HAHAHA

Ok, it sucked.  ;D

Although the promoters did the wrong thing by booking the gig on the Nilson Nelson gymnasium, as Axl could have sold out Mane Garrincha stadium easily! I'm sure that the Sao Paulo gig will be the best, as the stadium will be packed. :peace:

Hope it's covered by your travel insurance Dude.  Often with these kind of things it's not only the cost of replacement that's the problem, it's the complete ball-ache it causes, being away from home your phone is your lifeline.  The last time I had a phone stolen it felt like a real intrusion, although the data was reasonably protected - it's the inconvenience someone has caused you that sucks.  Advice to anyone with an iPhone is to ensure you have auto-lock enabled - that way 10 wrong pin entries wipe the data on the phone.

At least with an iPhone, a quick sync back to iTunes put's you back where you were, so no lost contacts etc.

Anyway, enough of the negative stuff, enjoy the rest of your trip and come home safe with a shit-load of cool memories

Jarmo should check the cheese bread in Belo Horizonte now. It should be a million times better than the one he had in Brasilia.

Quote
As I was sorting through pictures from Sao Paulo, I heard the rain start. Then came the thunder.

Next thing I know, I'm told the stage collapsed and we're told to head to catering.

Met up with the crew guys there and we waited.....

Later on, we took our stuff and came to the hotel.

:o  OMG!!!  That sounds like you were part of the crew that was AT the stadium when the storm hit!!!  :o

Thank God you and the others are all okay!!!

Ron has what some might call a "unique" sense of humor.  He was being "entertaining" in that drinking post in his '06 journal.  Just like he was "joking" when he posted in that same journal that he didn't know what a smoke alarm looked/sounded like.  ;)

I called Gypsy a cunt with my report to a moderator, I believe it was "Why am I not allowed to defend myself when this cunt attacks me?" -- something along those lines.

Could I have called her something else, of course. Did I? No. I never said I never did anything wrong, but when you don't allow someone to reply simply because Gypsy is a 'respected member here' -- it's shit. You reply and are allowed to respond how you see fit, you never hold back. So what's the difference?

I don't remember my reply in the regular thread, but I know it wasn't anything bad. Just a shame when you censor someone and not allow them to defend them self.

No games being played here, just how I see it.

Do you have access to see my reply, since it was deleted?  All I remember is saying something about not being an only child, and that Gypsy being the only one allowed to post twitter updates or something like that? Quite dumb if you ask me -- but apparently it hit a nerve with someone.

*edit* added the italics

I love the way you assume that I'm stupid.

Before you started your little campaign against Gypsy, you and your buddies were after AdZ.

How many times do you think history needs to repeat itself before I catch on?

Assuming I'm as stupid as you think I am, I probably shouldn't have noticed it yet.

So please, put an end to the fucking charade already.

Title: Re: Jarmo's South American tour blog 2010 - discussion thread
Post by: cotis on April 12, 2010, 08:33:39 PM
To be honest, your buddy Adz (or is it a capital Z :P ) seemed to have an agenda against myself before I ever started anything with him. If I read back in some posts, I'm sure I could find it.

I have nothing against Gypsy, I just think its unfair to allow some to voice their opinion and say what they want -- and others are not allowed. When someone is attacked, they should have an opportunity to respond.

I don't think you're as stupid as you think that I think you are.

It's over to me, just want to make sure us users are allowed to defend ourselves (to an extent, no need to ATTACK) when we are talked about by others -- no matter if they're on the 'circle' or not.

How would you feel, you post something in response to someone talking about you -- and it's deleted. No notice, no reason. Just deleted.

You wouldn't know, cause it never happens to you -- but it's a pain in the ass.

Well you're assuming I actually respond to every attack made against me.

Which I don't.

Once again you're acting like the victim.

You honestly think a moderator has nothing better to do than to seek out your posts only to attack you? Right...

It's just a matter of you being a smart ass, trying to "have fun" with your buddies. Unfortunately for you, we saw what you were doing.

You didn't like that so you started your vendetta. It's been going on for a while now and it's boring.

I have asked you to stop. You keep going on and on while acting like you've never done anything remotely wrong.

Now you're steering this thread totally off topic.

Suddenly this thread isn't about the South American tour, it's about you. Congratulations.

Dear Jarmo,

I am sure that I am not alone in feeling deep empathy for your predicament. I just heard that flights are still being grounded until at least Wednesday. A friend of mine wrote this small poem that I want to share with you. I hope you get home soon.

I hate that damn volcano
Gonna have to find another way
Find another day
With all these grounded aeroplanes
Oh, my life
Maybe, I'll get a flight next time...

Jarmo, I'm glad you got home safely eventually.

It must seen ironic to have travelled all the way through South and Central America, only to have the flight home cancelled for well over a week.

I suppose you got to see some sights you wouldn't have, so I guess it worked out for you in the end.  ;)

Glad you made it home as well. Since that volcano could keep erupting on and off, I am cancelling my trip to England. I do not have the financial means to risk being stuck in London for a week and my vacation days were super tight. How was the atmosphere in the airport? Were people tense? Were the employees in the airports helpful? Hopefully I will get to see GNR in the US this year.
