Title: GnR at more small venues... please???
Post by: inlikeflynn420 on February 15, 2010, 11:32:30 PM
The band looks like they are having a great time at these small clubs, and the shows have a cool relaxed feel to them. I would love it if they would maybe play some shows at smaller venues (say, 1000 or less capacity). Sort of an "Intimate Evening With Guns n Roses" type thing. They could charge hundreds of dollars a ticket -- hell, $500 -- and sell them all out i'm sure. I spent more than that with hotel, travel, etc. to see them in Toronto and it was worth every penny!  If you're able and willing to pay (I would, in a fucking heartbeat!) you would get a once in a lifetime experience with this incredible band. Probably won't happen, but wouldn't it be fuckin' cool?

I would be up for that in a minute!

It would be cool but then it opens up an argument from people that 'we will never afford to get in, cant get tickets etc'.

The idea of playing larger venues is that they can get the show to a larger audience in one go.

Also I doubt their motivation for playing the recent suprise shows is money, rather than them having fun and enjoying playing.

They could do something like the Stones did with the Forty Licks tour...

Play large, smaller AND really small venues...

I'd sure love to pay all the money for a large venue AND a smaller one when they come to Europe...

Cmon, who wouldnt?

They could also do surprise gigs (like NYC, London 2006, japan 2007) but all over the world if they feel like it. Have a couple radio stations run contests for tickets.

I'm pretty sure they can find people all over the world to arrange that kind of shit... I personally know the better half of the promoters in Greece...

I know that with the price I paid for my tickets I'd pay for any fancy club's entrance as well, at least here in Brazil. Can't get anymore expensive than that. And if so, I'd trade my arena concert's ticket for a small gig's ticket any day!

I'd really love to see the guys doing these small gigs often, just for fun, anywhere they feel like doing it. Specially here in my town, of course.

* THIRD TIME?S A CHARM

February 17, 2010

Guns N? Roses has already bowled over Fashion Week crowds with two surprise performances, and the show might not be over yet. ?There?s a good chance you?ll be seeing him one more time before the week is over,? a source close to Axl Rose told Buzz.

I am all for these small shows. They are great for the band and it seems to be keeping most people happy. lol But the guys do need to rest up before the next leg of the tour.

I definately think that when they come to Europe, there will be a few of these sort of gigs. Although I attended all of the UK tour except the Newcastle gig, I was not lucky enough to attend the acoustic show after the first wembley date. It did not bother me as the 2 Wembley shows were amazing, and Robin crowd surfing on me and also throwing me a bottle (which I still have to this day), made my experience special.  8)

But obviously, I would love to attend one of these stripped down acoustic shows. And who wouldn't when the band seem to be on top form.

Lets hope Europe has some of these in store for us as well.  :D

Thank you -- i knew the Stones did it but i couldn't remember which tour. They played at the Tower Theater (which has a capacity of about 3000), after also playing a stadium and arena show in Pilly that week. I've been to the Tower for other shows (saw Keef there with the Expensive Winos) and it'd be awesome to see GnR at a venue that size. It wouldn't surprise me if the band just pops in to smaller places just for fun between larger gigs. Maybe in Philly for fans who were at the 2002 show? I still have my ticket. I can hope, can't I? Really, i'm just happy the band is having fun and staying active.

If we are now recommending suitable samll venues can I put this venue in the mixing pot?

Malvern Youth Club.  Venue holds around 30 people and is 5 mins away from my house.  Band and crew can come round to my house for dinner if they like.  I can provide accomodation for 3 people  ;) ;D

Guns and rosese was conceived for playing in big stadiums and large amount of people.Only a few rock/metal bands can do it right now.....and btw they are the same as the 80s and 90s!.ROCK STAR LEGENDS.

I agree the band should be playing huge stadiums (I wish I was going to one of the shows in South America -- I'm sure they're going to be insane!), arenas, etc. I'll go see the band in any size venue and I'll be happy. I'm just saying it'd be cool if they would play the occasional smaller venue between larger shows. It just looks like those lucky people that were at those NY shows got a hell of a special treat (i'm jealous, dammit!), and from what Axl has said about those shows, he and the band really enjoyed them as well. I do think that they better have Baz on hand for security, though!

Btw, if that gig at the Youth Center pans out, can I stop by for dinner, too? ;D

Maybe they'll do the Hammersmith in London again or HOB or a rock hard show like they did in 2006.
