I was more concerned, happy and surprised by the "surprise gigs" comment then anything else going on with it.

I would love to see them start appearing on SNL, Late Night, etc.  I know some people probably disagree, but I want more than anything for this band to showcase themselves as much as possible and get the US all over them again.  Things like this really help in America, and this band deserves the recognition they would get.  

The more shows and appearences they make, the faster and easier it will be for people in the US to get over the fact that the old band has split up.  I'm so tired of hearing about it.  These new guys need to be recognized...and so does Chinese Democracy.

I had been trolling on myGNR for about a month and I noticed that Madison was pretty negative, overall, even towards Axl.  I can recall her talking bad about Axl based on some info she "heard" which seems to be unreliable.   I can see why Axl was upset.   Everything he said about her was basically true.  I love it.

She has come with a lot of other fantasy theories lately. For example it not being Axl writing his on twitter messages. Also that the LAX incident was probably arranged by the GN'R camp for publicity.

I mean, she's (was) a moderator on a pretty big board, and stories are being picked up by the media from time to time. This behavior risks Axl and GN'R being shed in a very bad light based on nothing but lies and fantasies. The whole "Slash shirt ban" thing got picked up by TMZ and spread like wildfire from there. No wonder Axl is pissed!

One thing that Jarmo does that he does not get enough credit for, which is something Madison obviously does not do, is if a rumor pops up, he goes and makes an effort to verify its accuracy.  That way bullshit doesn't get perpetuated too much.  When bullshit does get repeated and regurgitated long enough, it eventually becomes accepted as fact.  That never happens here, which is very, very good for both the band and the fans.  We as fans, do not get mislead into believing bullshit rumors because Jarmo takes the time to verify or disprove them.

I think admins and mods of big time GNR or really any site need to really be cautious with things they post and say. A mod is technically no different than any other poster but most do view admins/mods as the most credible parts of a forum.

my take on a lot of this is, I think some people "support" this band hoping for some kind of reward or something. I call them the backstage wanna be posters.

They do everything to kiss ass and whatever else in hopes of Axl or Fernando or Beta or Jarmo or whoever inviting them backstage to a show or what have u.

so when Jarmo gets perks, people start getting jealous and their true colors begin to show. It has happened quite a few times on these forums.

I support GNR unconditionally and only hope to get music and possibly a show somewhere close. People who "expect" some type of backstage or party invitation need to reevaluate.

I hadn't been on mygnr for a long time, but i met Eric at the Loose Moose in Toronto and ran into him again at the show. Seemed like a cool guy, so i thought i'd check out the site again. Wasn't for me. As far as the haters go, I really don't understand why anyone would regularly go onto a site for a band they like to bitch about, and waste any of their time saying negative shit. My time is more valuable than that. I can't stand Limp Bizkit, and i can't imagine having so much time on my hands that i go onto a LB fan site just to bitch about them. Whatever. If you don't like the new lineup or music, maybe you should find a band that you actually like. Keep hoping for a reunion in private. This band rocks, as does the new music.

that t-shirt rumour has generated a lot of negative press here in argentina, and a lot of divisions among GNR fans in Argentina and Chile (at least). The ethernal whiners were quietly waiting for something like this to pop up to start their whining again, but this time with a lot anger. There were truly stupid people making facebook groups to attend the GNR shows with Slash shirts, to annoy Axl and the rest of the guys onstage, and shit like that. It was pretty clear to me this wasn't GNR's decision in the very same moment Fernando denied it, but for the whiners ''Fernando is not enough''. So, these whiners were demanding Axl, and they got Axl in their faces.

In Argentina, even though tickets are selling extremely well (with several sold-out sectors), the media focalized in the ''t-shirt'' incident even more than in GNR's arrival itself.

So, what i'm trying to say is: Axl appeared in the right moment, the right fucking way: HIS way.

Now the whiner's are back in their caves again, quietly hidden, as usual.

That's about the best way to say it and how I've always looked at it. Your either respect the rules and abide by them, or you can leave. This site or any site. I may not always agree with how the board is run, and that's fine, but it's not your/my site. It can and should be run however Jarmo prefers.

It was actually a pretty well-written post, especially the quote about the high-school-parking-lot-rent-a-cop.
Showed some humor.  Some real nastiness.  And some insight about the results of his post.

It was honest.  I always appreciate that about Axl.
He has a ton of faults (like us all), but he has always struck me as neither (1) a whore for money (god bless for not selling out GnR music to commercials or falling back into a bullshit reunion with people he doesn't respect anymore), nor (2) a phoney -- he speaks his mind.  How many other celebrities are that true to themselves in this era of bullshit and PR?

Axl's response to her was over the top IMO. At the same time I have been visiting that board for years( not as a member) and she has said things there that have seemed out off line. Critical of axl/guns on things, likes she has some sort agenda about how their mgmt should be doing things??? So maybe it was a good thing he called her out even though she must be a strong fan to run (did run?) that site.

At one time I was surprised by Jarmo not allowing certain things.  However over the years I have found I much prefer how Jarmo does things.  I know if the info is left up on HTGTH it is reliable and not just someone talking out their ass.

As for Axl's comments to that person it is between her and Axl, she said certain things on a public forum so Axl responded back the same way.

Wow, great to hear surprise gigs are on the horizon.  I remember seeing GNR at the Hammerstein ballroom in 2006 and it was unbelievable.  Doubt I'll be able to go this time around but all the best to those who get a chance to see the band in a smaller venue (I think it's safe to assume that surprise gigs are generally held at smaller venues).

Well, it's 8am here and I'm supposed to be working... but I heard about this "surprise gigs" thing so I had to come and check it out. I'm a member of myGNR but I haven't posted there much... It's a bit too negative in places. If that's the way they wanna run their forum, then that's up to them. Personally, I prefer this place.

Anyway, that post from Axl/Dexter was superb! It really made my morning! I actually laughed out loud... luckily no-one else is in the office yet!

And, as for the surprise gigs... I'm all kinds of excited! Do you think this is what Axl meant in his tweet when he said that the band were gonna rest for a couple of days before starting the next thing?

My opinion, I come to HTGTH to find out whats happening with my favourite band, I want facts and then the opportunity to discuss the facts and also rumours. I feel I get to do that here, I don't want people bashing GnR this is a fan forum, if you want to bash then go somewhere else. If you want to find negative stuff about the band there are always other places for that but this isn't that palce.

Hope the suprise gigs give the band a chance to showcase their skills on massive level, maybe a tv performance so everyone can see them ROCK!!

Surprise gigs - fkn excellent news. The Gn'R train keeps rolling and stupid boring bullshit like this ridiculous t-shirt conversation is dull as shit and detracting from the great live stuff that GnR are doing right now. I dont go to mygnr hardly ever as I find the layout too hectic for poor tired eyes and I dont like negative bullshit discussions about my favourite band.  Jarmo runs a damn fine site here and I far prefer it to having to wait in line for the one copy of Rip, Raw, Metal Hammer for my GnR news that my local newsagent got in back in the old days of no internet at all!  
I loved Axl's rant - he can say what he fkn likes - everyone else does abut him and his band, so fair enough that he'd had enough.

I really feel sorry for her, i felt this way back in 2006. She seemed to be in a world of her own, somewhere where she could justify anything she did or said.

It's silly that anyone would have believed such a thing in the first place. We get mad when someone in our personal lives stirs up gossip and we have to answer to it and put an end to it. I don't believe any of us will ever be able to imgine what Axl or any other band member or celebrity for that matter has to endure when these things occur. Such a waste of time and energy.

I only found out that some people are over their heads! I mean this girl thinks she is so important to GnR world cause she managed to built a forum over the last years - she forgets that the forum is about GnR!

I mean, i ve seen in it happen the last 14 years for too many times... some guy or girl starts a GnR forum, then the forum turns big, then GnR are on the scene again, touring, releasing album, touring again, Axl himself says thanx to some of them for their supprort, and suddenly those people thinks they are Gods or Axl 's alter egos.. And very few manages to stay on earth and realise that it s only a GnR Forum - and a forum is supposed to be about the band it supports, not its Admin!!!

I think Jarmo over these years managed to stay on earth - that s the important thing to me.. now, some may be jealous for his travelling and touring along with the band, but what can you do?

Not for nothing for all of you conspiracy theory looking people. As someone in the industry I can honestly tell you that it would be next to impossible to ban supposedly unaproved t-shirts, Imagine how long people would have to wait on line. Imagine the security nightmare. Imagine the raucuous it would cause. I know that none of these shows were dry ( liquor free). my main argument: he was involved (as official manager!) until shortly before the letter-accident happened, so he was very close to the band and his version should at least be listed on a big GN'R-board.

Jarmo's in one of those positions. He's done well by the band, and they've taken care of him in kind, but since Axl can't be on every forum, at every second, Jarmo takes up the defenses, and shoots down any shit. I'm not saying this is an official arrangement, but that's the way it worked out. And he does it well.

And why is it, every time something comes up, there's a few people on the boards that drag out any shit they can possibly think of.  Personally, I prefer the lack memory I have, thereby not retaining any of the bullshit from before.

About the "surprise gigs": if the band is indeed doing the Fashion Week stuff, it would be awesome to promote the album and tour.

I Think Limulus may of have had a point before we heard what bumble had to say about merck. Knowing how he treated the band and fans in the first place i very much doubt he deserves any sort of media outlet to get fans against Axl and the band. i'm happy he has been removed from the GN'R camp.

Madison is one of the most unpleasant 'fans' I've ever come across. I've seen her be extremely unpleasant and personally vicious to other fans (especially those who disagree with the 'fact' that the band is worthless without a certain curly haired 'heartthrob') with little reason - myself included.

I may have disagreements with the J man from time to time, but at least here you know you're supporting the same team, and not someone's grotesquely extended wet dream from 1988. The word 'schadenfreude' springs to mind as I see this nasty, smug hypocrite get raked over the coals.

I'm hoping for surprise shows along the lines of the acoustic fashion thing in 2006...man, I'd love to hear what these guys can crank out when the juice is turned down. They're all such incredible players, it could be the 'unplugged' we never had. Patience live at Nijmegen in 06 was enough to make me drool for an acoustic set.

And face it, Axl personally helping to remove a nasty, negative influence on the band's perception from a position of power is something people will want to express an opinion on - as are all public things Axl partakes in. Well it looks like the surprises are about to begin.

I think the big deal was Madison ran with an uncorroborated, false story that damaged the band, the reputation of the venue, and workers at the venue (banning anyone who questioned her, her sources, and methodologies she used to state that something false was "confirmed" along the way).  To make matters worse, she then had to feed her lies to TMZ, to perpetuate her falsehoods.  Pretty evil and wicked thing to do!

Guys stop with the other forum talk seriously, its giving me a headache.  I am so happy GNR are playing very very soon this year has already been amazing with the band kicking ass already, the band is gelling like never before and Axl sounds amazing!  I cant wait to see them again :beer:

I love Axl and GNR but have always found it hilarious how whenever has a rant or says anything, within minutes his turn of phrase becomes the vernacular used by fanboys. It's like people quoting a prophet......see Dexter chapter 3 verse 7 ".....

I'd like to think difference of view is healthy so long as it's done in a respectable manner. Sitting round in an internet based circle jerk where everyone outdoes each other in describing how blue the sky is would be pretty fucking boring IMO.

moreover, the description of the Madison person seems to answer to that of fans. i wouldn't be surprised if he ever posted there under a different name to defend the fans against resident slashers (and got banned by the then admin).

The very fact that GnR's own website 3 years later is still tied to MLB shows that as a manger he made some really fucking stupid moves, then you have the Harley Davidson move.  Shortly after that he was gone.  The website fuckup he did is more then enough for him to be long gone from GnR.
