Guns N Roses might play at sweden rockfestival this summer .....

I was hoping for it to be the Peace & Love festival, hope I can find a hotel down there, I'm gonna freeze my ass of down there if I have to be living in a tent

other then what i've already said it also says that it's supposed to be a part of a festival tour for the band, more than half of the article is about the biting a guard in the leg incident from sthlm 2006,

about the paper though, it's pretty shitty often filled with bullshit rumors, it's the paper that says it'll be the only gig in scandinavia and they don't even say they have any source for it

what IMO makes it look kinda legit is
A: sweden rock festival is the biggest rock festival in Sweden, they've had aerosmith, alice cooper, black sabbath, deep purple, judas priest, motley crue, twisted sister, heaven and hell, mot?rhead, poison, zz topp as headliners among others
B: the guy from SRF that are talking with the paper are not denying it and are also saying that they are hoping to release some big bands by the end of the week
C: there's been rumours about festivals trying to get GN'R, SRF would be very likely since they haven't announced any headliner yet

Only in Scandinavia? Naa.. i dont think so.. Norwegian booking agents have been in contact
with GNR, and there is strong rumors saying that they will play both Bergen and Stavanger.. Ill keep my fingers crossed  : ok:

This would be great!! It would help and get more people in to the new lineup. Atleast I hope so, many of the visitors at SRF are of the older school I think..

I know whats going to happen.......

They will announce UK dates in the middle of July, just when my kid is due.  This will mean I probably wont be able to go as I will be on standby.  Bugger.

I think it?s a good thing to do festivals since this line up is on fire and are going to win a lot of people over. Being a hardcore fan hoping for long sets and their own amazing stage set up I hope they combine this tour with arenas or comeback a bit later on for arenas only :peace:

That date would mean festival wise, Download in the UK is a high possibility. Kinda dont want this to happen (hoping for arena tour) but imagine AC/DC, GN'R headlining, would be THE festival to be at in the UK this year.

^^2006 they did full sets no matter which festival in europe. actually they even played shorter on some "headliner" shows like in Holland'06 ("only" ~120min).

i agree though that i'd prefer some more indoor headliner shows (multiple in each country) this time aswell instead of like 1-2 shows/one country.

I just hope they won't play Rock am Ring in Germany. Those fuckers are charging 250? by now.

Does it say what day they're playing Sweden Rock Festival? Cos AC/DC are playing Friday of Download, so that only leaves Sat and Sun slots free at Download, and if Sweden is just Sat and Sun I would think that makes it unlikely they will play Download.

Hyde Park in London would be cool though...

well, if they dont play download im hoping for the sunday of hard rock calling purley for selfish reasons, i would get to see pearl jam on the friday, go t  a wedding on the sat then gn'r on sunday. ideally downkoad tho.

Pretty high ticket prices for a student.. and I would have to pay for the trip too. They should also play Stockholm, I'm not satisfied with one show in Finland (if it's even going to happen) :P

If you want to see multiple shows, I would recommend checking airfare with low cost airlines... Could be cheaper than going to a neighboring country and paying for a festival ticket.

Yep, that's true. I would love to see them doing arenas or stadiums in Europe.. and going to Stockholm only costs 20-30?, so that's why I'd like to see it happen there.

lol jarmo, the one who interviewed me was from blekinge so his accent is a lot funnier than mine :P

well, i don't really remember  :hihi:  at first he asked me about how i became a fan and all this so i basically said that i've been a fan ever since i saw my brothers taped show from paris 92, then he asked me what was special about GN'R so i was kinda stressed and nervous and answered how awesome axl's voice was, "how powerful yet emotional it is, but not only the voice, the guitars, lyrics and drums and everything, the whole package" kinda goofy answers but it's radio, i figured i couldn't go deep and on forever,
of course he also asked about my opinion if this is really is GN'R, some say it's not to which i think i said "there's always gonna be people with that opinion, but axl started the band, it's always been his band and vision and there have always been changing members, some think it's only an axl solo project but they rehearse like any band, write songs like any other band, release music like bands and play shows like other bands, so of course this is a band and to me they are Guns N' Roses"
then some questions about how i was feeling on a day like this, and stuff like that

Wow, If the stars align this would be cool. Download in 2006 was amazing, my first GN'R gig in daylight. Also how they turned the show around from the technical difficulties at the start, was great to watch.

Are you saying its probably unlikely GNR will be at Download coz the festivals  clash, or the opposite? I'd be suprised if they played 2 festivals on the one weekend, it would be awesome though  :)

Does anyone know if Sweden Rock Festival is going to be filmed? Or has it been filmed before?

Yeah, last time I was there they filmed during the Judas Priest consert. It was to be a hard rock special for our public service channel (which actually is quite big in Sweden) so they turned on the lights and had the audience to scream their bloody lungs out! It was kinda fun :) So there is definitly a possibility that they'll film it even though it might not be in the shape of a SRF-dvd or anything.

There. Got my tickets. Took the 4-day whole enchilada (a couple of other interesting bands).

Hope to meet a bunch of you guys there - and Jarmo, I owe you a beer from Oslo 2006..

So it seems like they'll do an arena tour aswell, cause i really can't see them playing a different festival over here

Without knowing anything about GN'R's plans, so don't read into this, I know of multiple festivals in Germany: Hurricane Festival, Southside Festival, Wacken Open Air.....

Wacken is a Metal festival for example.

Since they're playing at Sweden Rock alongside a band like Slayer, I don't know what kinds of bills they fit. ;)

Well, Slayer play Rock am Ring aswell. Wacken is just all sorts of Metal. The only Festival they could play is Hurricane/Southside. But i kind of doubt that.

Now, rumours have begun to float around suggesting that GN'R will play in Aalborg, Denmark on Sunday, June 13th. See www.gaffa.dk and www.bt.dk for further details...

At first it seemed like a crazy rumor, but a friend just reminded me that the Gigantium arena is rather new - and KISS are playing three days later. Iron Maiden have played there too. Supposedly a good venue with good sound.

This could be fun.

Aerosmith is confirmed for this festival too, appears they will be headlining (assuming since their name is above GNR's on the calendar, and that's how it usually works...).

Are they playing on the same days?  Don't they have a different headliner each day?  I would think they'd split the 2 bands up and Aerosmith would get top billing on the website since they were just announced today.

Could mean many things. Could mean GnR had a headliner clause in their contract and Aerosmith came on here in the eleventh hour, or it could mean they are just valued 'higher'. Which I haven't seen before due to Aerosmith's rock n' roll years and mileage - thus standing. Or it could mean whatever.

Yes, thats exactly what I'm doing, I'm waiting until I know if there are more dates in Europe. I'd love to go to Sweden, as I only went to Portugal and France in 2006, but we'll have to see.

shit, I was going to the M3 festival in Chicago but this is such a badass lineup I cant afford to miss. Can someone confirm this? the price for the 4 day festival is $350 american dollars, I used a online converter. I just want to make sure. If so GnR, Aerosmith, and Billy Idol are worth the price to enter the festival, since their tickets cost roughly $100 during regular touring.

a four day ticket is 2390 kronor and that would be 328 US dollars according to the site I used, the first day though is more of a "warm-up" day and the biggest act that day is UDO i think. I don't think the camping site is included in the price

That would be awesome.  Rock am Ring 2006 was one of the best bootlegs of the new band if not the best.
