Title: Slash's Album Art and Tracklist Revealed!
Post by: Naupis on February 01, 2010, 02:25:06 PM
From Ultimate Guitar:

In what will be his first true solo album, rock icon Slash announced his CD, Slash, will be released in April, 2010.

Today Ultimate Guitar exclusively reveals the new album's artwork. Check it out at this location.

The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmeister, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother.

A major undertaking for Slash, he enlisted services of producing partner Eric Valentine (Queens of Stone Age, The All-American Rejects) and compiled a rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction) and drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.

"The idea was really simple in the beginning," said Slash. "These are all artists I wanted to work with ? that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs."

In addition to the album news, Slash has teamed up with Guitar Center, the world's largest musical instrument retailer, for a first-of-its kind undiscovered music program: Guitar Center Presents Your Next Record with Slash, an unsigned band competition that provides emerging artists the chance to win the ultimate career-altering opportunity: record a 3-song EP with legendary producer, Mike Clink (Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Megadeth) and have Slash write, record and perform on the winning artists' single. Starting today, through April 30th, 2010 bands across the United States are invited to submit their music at YourNextRecord.com for a chance to win.

The Slash album will be released through EMI Label Services. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Slash on the "Slash" project. EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution will be providing unique marketing and promotion services while working closely with Slash on creative ways to expose this great project to the consumer," said Dominic Pandiscia, SVP and General Manager, EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution.

Slash Track Listing:

01. Ghost (Ian Astbury)
02. Beautiful Dangerous (Fergie)
03. Nothing To Say (M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold)
04. Crucify The Dead (Ozzy Osbourne)

Record with Slash & Mike Clink, that is a pretty cool opportunity for whoever wins.

Also, I wonder what track Izzy is on, and then the one Adler and Flea are on. Hopefully some more info about those tracks comes out. Thankfully the Pussycat Dolls singer is no where to be found.

I was actually thinking about how the cover art would look like the other day, I wasn't too far off.. figured it would be some colorful cartoon

now bring on the music

Sweet, bring it on...

Looks like the track with Beth Hart didn't make the cut... Still a great song!

That artwork is really fucking cool... he mentioned last week or the week before his brother Ash did the artwork.

Tracklist looks interesting... but I'm missing the Izzy track and Flea/Steven track. Unless they're on it but just not mentioned. Also 13 tracks, expected a bit more.. but there will probably be some bonus tracks/b sides.

AWESOME!

....was wondering what the R&FNR was on the rocker, but figured it was "rock 'n' fuckin' roll".

The tracklisting above only lists the vocalists. Steven/Flea & Izzy are on their somewhere.

Slash also mentioned that there would be a half dozen or so bonus tracks.

Steven said that him and Flea play on a great rock n roll track with a singer that "everybody knows." Ozzy?

This looks a little too much like the artwork for the first Snakepit album.

Nice cover. Finally, the track listing.

This looks a little too much like the artwork for the first Snakepit album.

It is similar, but both are his 'solo' projects... so...

Looks like the track with Beth Hart didn't make the cut...

Thankfully the Pussycat Dolls singer is no where to be found.

All those are bonus tracks. I wonder who'll get what.

2. Paradise City (Fergie/Cypress Hill)

So because of 2 or 3 collaborations with "popstars" he isn't rock n roll?

I'm actually interested in hearing the Fergie track since Eddie Trunk spoke highly of it.  The girl can sing, and churn out hits.  So it could be good.

I like the artwork, but the skull and crossbones and associated imagery are so old these days.

No, not at all. But I think you know what I mean. There's a different between doing things for free and doing whatever you want and still make money with it.
For instance, Axl didn't give chinese democracy away for free. Still, he's no money slut.

Didn't Axl try to get his best friend Izzy to sign a contract taking a pay cut?

Right, i dont get all this slash bashing about how he has 'sold out'

i dont see him selling out, he played with fergie, so what, he's playing rock, he's playing an insturment he loves whats sold out about that?

fergies on the record? so what, im sure slash can sell enough records without gettin fergie on it to sell more, anyone ever though he just digs fergie and likes the music that comes out of there collaberation

since when is colaberating with pop stars selling out? he's playin the insturment he always has, in a rock n roll way, nothing sold out about that!!

the guitar hero thing? he's giving something back to his fans, maybe he made abit of money from it, and what, he still dresses like he did, he still believes in rock n roll like he did and he still plays awsome, he hasnt sold out of anything, i respect slash for goin out there and trying new things, some things work, some dont.

everyone has there opinion  :peace:

I guess Axl sold Chinese Democracy exclusively to BEST BUY "for the fans?"

LMAO - he did it for the money.

Some of you are so naive.

I love Axl as much as the next guy, but when did this "Axl is a flawless human" nonsense begin?

Im not saying i know what goes on, but IF slash gets ASKED to do something and he think "yeah that'd be cool" thats selling out? i mean he's got a lot of things to do now he's clean and that lol

yeah, not exactly on topic, but the topic evolved lol.

the artwork is killer, i smell a tattoo :P

but really, I aint saying anything bad about the man, I don't care about some commercial more than he should have done it for a ferrari and not a golf :P the "now that he's clean blabla" don't work as an argument, then again you don't need an argument for this bullshit

Ok so this turned a bit into a is-slash-a-sellout-discussion, which wasn't really my intention 'cause this should be about his album. But it's what CheapJon said: everybody has his opinion. And I don't know Slash in person or anything but I really do feel like he's just trying to 'do the right thing' instead of showing his balls and do whatever he wants to. And in my opinion, everything is the right thing except trying to do the right thing ;)

I love what he did and loved him as a guitar player (yes, unfortunately that's past present). I really hope he's going to change that with this record though. I will buy it when it comes out.. with or without Fergie ;)

artwork seems to be a mix of gnr, snakepit, and vr influences, parts of each are there.
