-----------
Repairs by donkyflip:
The recording was from an analog audio tape recording, and therefore had some breaks and gaps in the show as a result of the taper having to stop and flip or switch tapes. Several of the drop outs that were repaired were due that.

* Fix dropout between Nightrain and Attitude by crossfading together then split back into two tracks.
* Fix dropout between Don't Cry and You Could Be Mine by crossfading together then split back into two tracks.
* Patched gap in Drum Solo leading into Guitar Solo then crossfaded the two segments back together.
* Removed loud pop DONE from end of Sweet Child of Mine.
* The track for Estranged is cut, which is okay, but afterwards there was 15 seconds of the start of Move to the City.
Rejoined the tracks and then split them on the cut in the recording.
* Raised overall volume of entire show by normalizing to 95%

-----------

notes: Three songs from this show were shown on Fox's & MTV's New Year's Eve specials. Before 'Nightrain,' Axl asks the crowd, "Did you have a great Christmas? Even if you did, we will try to make it up to you tonight!" The first verse of 'Sweet Child O' Mine' is started one verse later, as Axl was missing.

I have a website. I do not use it to ''trade'', sincerely.... just to know what I have and do not have and being able to access to my collection from every PC.

Everytime I get a new boot, I add it to the site. And before I download something, I check if i have it or not. But most of the times i know if i have something without looking to the site.

I am not interested in these kind of stuff, really. I dont like ''edited'' shows for no reason. If it has been edited in 3 cds, its fine for me.

And I dont like imagjnary sources... this community is PLAGUED with them.

So true. Keep the recordings as they were. Raw and pure.

i am sick and tired of people here acting like i am stupid about things. now i am getting told my source is fake or imaginary. how the holly hell can it be imaginary when before i edited it it matched up to his time on his site and used his linage
also i bought 99.9% of my stuff off jm78 from 1999/2001

I'm not a big fan of remasters/edits/whatever either.

However, if you want to talk about plagues, how about all those mp3 uploads ?

My point is, if you don't like it, ignore it...

Then we can all get along  ;D

It seems you are totally missing the point.

If you state you're offering mp3, is perfectly fine. I convert FLAC to MP3 a lot for ''global spreading'' purposes. But there have been lots of cases of the inverted proccess (MP3 > FLAC) not stated in the lineage, because of ignorance, or because of that sick goal of having everything in flac format, like if mp3 mas a bad word. People need to understand that some mp3 sound VERY good and that FLAC is just a format, a container, NOT a quality.

I put lineages EVEN when sharing mp3.

My problem is against people ''believing'' in lineages, but having no clue at all if what they have is real.
Bigger problem is people guessing lineages.
And the biggest of them all is people inventing them.

There's no valid argument in favour of mp3's when it comes to the trading community.  Encode all you want for personal use, but don't pollute the trading pool.  There's only one exception, and that's the extremely rare case a show surfaces in a lossy format.  End of discussion.

Still, there's lots of mp3's on offer here, and you don't see me complaining about it -> if you don't like it, ignore it...

The same goes for the edits david has been uploading.  While I'm not a fan -> if you don't like it, ignore it...

About lineage, the obvious annotation for unknown lineage would be : u(nknown)M(ic) > u(nknown)R(ecorder) > ANA(?) > CDR(?) > EAC > WAV > FLAC

There's no need to 'invent' anything.

Extra news!! There is people who wants and actually deserves to listen to the GNR live music, and being a trader / collector is not a god damn requirement to do so, nor should never be.

what the fuck are you saying?

why ''CDR'' is obvious? Why Exact Audio Copy is obvious? Why FLAC is obvious?

You clearly dont know a shit about this. Go learn and then come back with some basic knowledge

What I'm saying is this :

When it comes to older recordings, like the St. Petersburg 1991 recording in this case, and there is no known lineage, in most cases this would be the obvious annotation :

unknown mic  (we don't know the mic used) >

unknown recorder (we don't know the device used) >

ANA(?) (unknown analog generation, the #1 source used in those days, aside from DAT in some cases) >

CDR(?) (somebody along the line will have transfered it to CDR, but we don't known what generation of CDR >

EAC > WAV > FLAC (most traders with a bit of common sense will use EAC to convert it to WAV and then to FLAC to upload it

Hence, the most obvious annotation for a recording with unknown lineage would be :

uM > uR > ANA(?) > CDR(?) > EAC > WAV > FLAC

Again, no need to invent anything.

if you dont know a lineage, just put ''unknown''. Do not invent, do not suppose, do not believe, do not use common sense. Your conclussions in your last post are  :nervous:

'my' conclusions are what people like John M. have been using for ages...

So I guess that makes gnrontour.com  to you ?

Let's just stick to common sense and end the 'discussion' shall we?

An unknown source is an unknown source.
A known source has a lineage. :D
