Could anyone attending the show tonight please make a special note of what time Baz hits the stage? I don't want to miss him in Regina, but I'm not especially keen on getting there too early because I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Thanks in advance!

On this venue's calendar, they had 31 events that they categorized as "concerts" in 2009.
Some acts played more than one date.

Knock knock knockin motherfuckers

Can see that see that changing to "photo taking downloading mother fuckers....." judging by the number of clips and images we've been privileged to observe since the tour began. There have been some truly great clips on Youtube and some great photos.

If I had one request (from Jarmo??) it would be could there be a few pic's of the stage in the venue from an elevated position be done, in "normal" light if poss (maybe before the first act). Nonetheless good stuff thus far and enjoying your efforts.

It was probably awesome when you were there but I really think Paradise city should be the ultimate closer. If they come back for a stripped down version of don't cry of an Oh Canada solo, that's fine. Actually, that's great! But no more real rockers such as better and/or Nightrain. I'm not saying Nightrain is a bad closer, I'm just saying Paradise city is way better :)

Just got home... I gotta share a few quick thoughts/observations before I pass out at my keyboard.

- Someone at the soundboard decided to play a lot of Accept before GNR took the stage... pretty cool.
- The crowd was a little rowdier and the security wasn't as strict throughout the show.  People crowd surfed at various points during the set... and what do you know... the building didn't burn to the ground.  :hihi:
- A guy next to me asked me "Which one is Slash?"
- I think Ron played a little Estranged during his solo (not sure if thats a usual thing or not).
- During the set, Axl went out of his way to high five over half a dozen kids near the far left catwalk... very cool, genuine, and unexpected.
- During Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Axl told a story about a trip to Easter Island with Beta.  Axl said that a guy putting blocks under the tires of the plane sang to him... specifically; "Knock, knock, knock Mutha-fucka".
- Somebody threw something/did something to piss Axl off at the end of Paradise City and he left the stage saying "Thanks alot d!ckhead"... when they returned with Madagascar, Axl added some lyrics to the song - "when people f*ck with my show..."
- The final song of the evening, Nightrain, was amazing.  A great surprise to see it end the show.  Sebastian and Danko looked like they were having the time of their lives up there.  Baz really milked it.  Axl was in really good spirits.

Thanks for the notes, glad you had a good time.

Ron has been playing that short snippet of "Estranged" in his solo throughout the tour, as far as I know.  Mixing it in with the Pink Panther Theme.

That's the rough part. but some people like it to throw stuff on stage.. it's been happening since the start of GNR.
there is always one guy who wants to f*ck with people's show...

and you know what.. Kick the crap out of him!
we don't pay 40-50 $ for a show to see it end after 3 songs....

Problem is, if YOU kick the crap out of him, YOU get kicked out too.  Better left for security to deal with.  At lots of sporting events they give you a number you can text if some fans are being unruly and they'll deal with it accordingly.  Not sure if they have the same process at concerts.

What was different with "Madagascar" at this show?

Ron has been playing that short snippet of "Estranged" in his solo throughout the tour, as far as I know.

"I heard that."  :P

Wow it's changed up up a lot.
When I was almost hating to hear pc at GNR shows as it would always bring to a close. it doesn't.

very cool... change is good

hopefully nobody left during paradise city to avoid the exit rush, lol  :hihi:
No kidding.  If I was there, I might've thought something went wrong and they were gonna end the show without an encore.  Never leave though, until you're sure it's over.  Let this be a lesson to everyone.

Back to the jungle

After waiting a full 17 years for a new album of Guns N' Roses originals, it's fitting that the pop metal stars took their time to take the stage in Saskatoon Tuesday night.

If Axl Rose has struggled at mastering the fine art of suspense he clearly understands tension, waiting until 10:20 p.m. to enter to funeral themed organ music and a rousing standing ovation from the crowd in a show that was expected to last close to three hours.

The band -- 47-year-old Rose (the only original gunner), bassist Tommy Stinson, guitarists Richard Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thai and DJ Ashba, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman, and drummer Frank Ferrer -- treated 6,000 or so fans at Credit Union Centre with a fiery, over-the-top rock show that, by my count, requires 14 semi trucks full of gear and equipment and eight buses for the crew.

Wearing a white dress shirt and a black fedora, Rose was looking his age but sounding and acting every bit his 1990s self, flying around the five-runway platform with vigour and letting loose several high-flying rock and roll kicks.

It was their fourth show of a three-week tour, following dates in Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg.

Danko Jones opened the show to a small crowd who arrived early to see the Toronto rocker take the stage around 7:30 p.m.

Jones was followed by Peterborough, Ont.'s Sebastian Bach, the former front man for Skid Row.

An hour after Bach left the stage, Rose, sporting a handlebar moustache and dark shades with his trademark red microphone, opened with the title track to his latest album, Chinese Democracy.

From there, it was the unmistakable guitar riff opening to Welcome to the Jungle that brought much of the crowd, many dressed in vintage leather and old school GnR t-shirts, out of their seats for good.

"Welcome to the jungle babeeee," Rose screeched. "You're gonnnnnaaa diieeee."

It was an arena-anthem filled romp that whipped back and forth from depression and despair to upbeat and soulful -- all to the off-kilter tune and raspy voice of Rose.

At press time, the band was swinging back and forth between old classics and new tracks in a show that was expected to last into the morning.

But what's another hour or two when you've waited almost two decades?

I don't seem to remember how the press received GN'R on their last tours, but I must say it's fucking awesome and well deserved that 100% of the reviews I've read so far are positive.

Some are even ECSTATIC about these concerts!

Unfourtunately it wasn't... the arena had a giant blue curtain dragged around most of the second tier in Spinal Tap-like fashion.  Oh well, its Saskatoon's loss.  It isn't the first (and it won't be the last) time Saskatoon has poor attendance for events like this.  As long as the band is tearing it up, and 6,000 people enjoyed themselves, it should be considered a success.  This tour has been phenomenal so far.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts/observations! Way cool!
I think it's great they didn't end with PC for once. PC is a fantasting song to end with, probably the best, but it doesn't always have to be the same song. Some variation is always nice. Nighttrain is also kick ass to end with. Which other songs would also be good to end with? What do you guys think? They used to end with Rocket Queen in the early, early days, but I think 'My Michelle' would also do.

Glad to see the tour is still going so well. Go Gunners!  : ok:

Totally agreed. I went to Calgary and Edmonton. These guys rip the place apart. They sound amazing and Axl is a beast. The energy and effort of this band is unmatched, period. Whatever the numbers are, the people that don't show, it's really their loss.

it's easy to say that, but put some thought into it. GnR actually played 2 shows in SK (less than 3 hours apart). the entire province of SK only has 1M people. that's less people than a major city in the U.S.

so if you look at it as a % of the population, these 2 shows (and all the shows in canada) were actually very well attended.

you also have to consider the fact that GnR are playing ALOT of shows all across canada. it's the dead of winter up there. and some areas of canada have a really depressed economy right now.

this tour has been a MAJOR success. well attended, good crowds, and incredible shows. in some of the reviews, you can tell they wanted to hate the show and be negative, but they just can't do it. the shows are simply too good.

I guess I should consider myself "not human" then. I wanted to album, I got the album. I wanted GNR to tour, they're touring. Ever better; they're touring close enough to me so I can see them twice!

On top of that, all reports (including what I've seen myself on YouTube, etc) say the shows are awesome. Having said all that, I can't see myself being concerned over who isn't there.

There's nothing to be concerned about and there is nothing to be negative about.

3 hours shows. Positive press reviews. Huh?? Did I say positive?? What?? Yeah, fuckin' positive press reviews?!!?

Not that I give a fuck about press reviews, but the tide seems to be turning flowing with this band. A tide that usually flows against it.

They came back after 2002 with a huge 2006 tour. 2002 would have been the end of many bands. Not GN'R! This band will not die.

Here they are again hoppin across the planet in 2010 better than ever.

Exactly there are very few bands that can go into SK and do even close to what GnR did for ticket sales when playing both venues.  Regina has a population of 200 000 people and Stoon has about 220 000.   The Clagary and Edmonton shows and Winnipeg only out drew the Stoon show by a few thousand and they have 4 times the population.  I will say that when it comes to Rock and metal Regina is the city.  Most of the time the bigger bands play 1 show in Stoon and thousands of people travel from Regina to see them.  Frankly I don't give a fuck how many people were at the shows.  The Stoon show was an amazing special show and so was the Regina one.  All in all I got 5 1/2 hrs of live GnR in 2 days.  I'm pretty fucking happy about it.

Wow, that Catcher vid was amazing, nice to see fans dancing and singing that beautiful song, also that sign on the front was nice "Axl is my hero see you tomorrow night"  :) Sad that this doesn't have better audio quality.

it wasn't an added outro.. that's just the whole songm or am I wrong.

Jarmo's update said this:

"Catcher was extra long tonight. The band did an extra verse (?) after the song ended. They restarted it with the "na na" part and did it again"

...?

Concerned about what?

The shows are great, fans love the shows and even journalists are being positive.

Isn't that all that should matter?

/jarmo

For me  No...I don't care for journalists...

It's nice fact that we have a positive reviews now,but also I liked 2006 tour, when reviews were so negative...

For me,happy fans=excellent tour

That's how I remember it.

Like the song finished, and they had so much fun playing it that they decided to start it again, but not from the beginning.

Also, Axl played a song before Someone Saved My Life Tonight.

I didn't recognize it, but apparently it was Gran Torino.

He also did part of it in Regina, but in the "break" in the song. Maybe also as an intro, not sure....

your right Jaramo it was the na na na part for about 10 to 15 seconds long.
