New Guns N' Roses Song On The Canadian Charts

With Canada gearing up for the new Guns N' Roses tour in early 2010, G N' R has officially entered the Canadian rock radio charts with Street Of Dreams, the new single from last year's Chinese Democracy CD. The song debuted on the Canadian Active Rock Charts at number 44, ahead of debuts from Canadian rockers Default and Seattle rockers Alice In Chains. Street Of Dreams follows Better, which reached Top 15 and Chinese Democracy, which made it to number 3.

Additionally, according to Neilsen/Soundscan, G N' R Greatest Hits is currently at number 19 on the Canadian Rock Album Charts. The album has been on the charts for 297 weeks and has risen one point over the past two weeks. Chinese Democracy topped the charts in its first week of release in 2008, selling 70,000 copies in Canada. The last time G N' R topped the charts prior to that was in 1991 with Use Your Illusion II.

i believe there will be a new video soon......  none of the music channels will play the new stuff without a video
it would make perfect sense to have a new single, new tour and a new video

cd was top 3... no vid.
better was top 15.. no vid.

so... why would there be a vid for sod..

I do hope for one..

but I think it would be weird.

they should just record a new song in like 2 months time... or 3... with each member onboard,, and release it. now that would be totaly not happening.. but kinda cool if did happened

its probably based on downloads etc.

theoretically there is no need for any band to release a single, if nough people download and pay for a song from a legit source. then it can enter the singles chart...........i think. I maybe wrong, it's happened before!

Then wouldn't it be for the good of the fans...

get some links up..(legit) and pay a small fee for the song or how ever it works to get it on the charts..

yeah, but the record industry NEEDS that song.  all the executives at the label have to know they're sitting on one of the greatest songs in the history of recorded music.  they've got to be waiting for the PERFECT moment to release it.

i just think the band are missing out on promotion without a new vid........i agree it would be wierd to have one now when CD and better never got one but i think with a new tour and new single to promote the album then this is perfect time to release a new vid too.
i know this is the age of downloads and itunes and all that crap but im a bit old school and theres nothing better than sitting down on the sofa with a decent music channel on the tv and relaxing to your favourite tunes

I 100& agree. But that ship sailed months ago.

Im a fan whether they have a video or not. It would just be cool to have something to watch.

But think about it, where would it get played? Here in the US we only have a few video outlets anymore....and Mtv aint one of them.

over here in UK we have kerrang tv, vh1 always play rock shows and a couple more that focus on rock in general
so theres plenty of promotion to be had over here anyway
i'm just sick of seeing them all playing the old stuff when theres some kick ass new stuff that they wont play without a video, thay cant play the song with a blank screen

^^^ Yeah, people would be able to watch it in the same places they watch the latest videos from every other major band and solo artists who are in the charts today.

As much as people act like no one plays videos anymore, its not true....

They may be played a helluva lot less that they were 15-20 years ago, but there is still a market for them, otherwise no one would make them

New single ??? Has it been officially released then?

Its a great song, the outro is stunning. I love the lyrics, pure poetry.
I wouldn't say it's an official "single".  It's possible Canadian radio is just amping up for the tour themselves and chose "Street of Dreams" as THE song to play.  Who really knows?

As for a video, I wouldn't expect one at this point BUT I'll give an argument for one.  It's possible the "Better" video really was supposed to come out.  I don't remember the timeframe completely so correct me if I'm wrong, but Robin was still IN the band at that time and the GNR camp really didn't know of his intentions at that time.  They could have been hoping that Robin would contact them and tell them his plans to return to the fold when his NIN commitments were finished.  But when they never got that and with each passing day it looked less and less likely that he'd be coming back they could've decided to halt all promo/video plans.  Why release a video when the members of the band aren't fully known?  Now that DJ is in the band and they are about to tour, it is POSSIBLE they could move forward with any plans they may have previously had.  From all accounts there's gonna be professionals taping the shows so there will finally be LIVE footage of the current lineup performing CD songs.  So it'd be easier than ever to put a music video together featuring concert footage.

But again, I wouldn't expect anything at this point.

A promo disc appeared and disapeared, it had a blurry image of a woman smoking on the cover, but the single wasnt actually released to the public.

I don't know about a physical copy, but Universal Norway had "Street Of Dreams" up for streaming on their website for a while.
