Title: HTGTH Tour blog - Asia December 2009
Post by: jarmo on December 06, 2009, 01:07:19 PM
Well since I'm off to Asia in the near future to see the best band in the world, I thought I'd start a special thread where you can, if you like, keep up with what's going on.

I'll try to update this thread as we go along.

Just to make it clear, this thread is locked in order to be able to keep just the "blog posts" in one place for easy access.

Comments are welcome, but you'll have to use another thread for that.   :)

Links you might find interesting:

Both will hopefully be updated from Asia.

Dec 6th, Finland's independence Day and the day I pack..... Getting it done.

I'm going for layers. Taipei is supposed to be quite warm and Seoul isn't....

Arrived in Taipei.... It's past 9PM and I've slept for maybe two hours since the night between Sunday and Monday.

Awesome to be here!

No snow!

I left home on Monday afternoon and arrived here in Taipei on Tuesday evening.

So I guess Tuesday was spent on the plane.

Now I woke up before 8am with no alarm.

Taipei show day

The reality of GN'R will play live tonight is slowly setting in.

First it was unreal to think about going to Asia, then sitting at the airport waiting for the plane was unreal, to be on the plane flying over Asia was the same, getting here and sightseeing in the sunshine, unreal. And now, GN'R playing tonight... Just... Wow!

Seoul

Got in to Seoul earlier today. Almost like being at home. It's chilly!

Haven't slept for more than a couple of hours since the show in Taipei. Had an early morning flight followed by some sightseeing and coffee drinking.

Seoul

The show in Seoul was amazing.

It becomes a different thing when you move the full show indoors. Different vibe.

Seoul was chilly and I didn't have a lot of time to see the city, but it seems huge. Took me over an hour to get from one part of the city to another.

Tokyo

Managed to catch up on sleep now since the Osaka show.

Went out to do a little bit of sightseeing today and came across an Irish bar that must've been named after me:

I'm sitting in my hotel room in Tokyo and it's sunny outside.

Thinking back to that evening in Osaka in anticipation for tonight's show.

That was unreal. I guess I lost track of time until the latter part of the show when I realized they had played for three fucking hours.

I was typing and sending the updates so I didn't really focus on the time. But at the end I realized what I was actually witnessing and I couldn't believe it!

So many surprises that at least I was't expecting.

From all the premiere performances of the album tracks to the covers. Whole Lotta Rosie? First time since maybe 1987 Axl sang it at a GN'R concert.

Sonic Reducer by the Dead Boys? Amazing.

And not forgetting Axl's intro to November Rain!

I'm back home and I just want to take this moment to thank the band and the crew for an amazing two weeks in Asia.

Also thanks to the locals who were kind enough to show me around. As well as some fellow tourists who got lost with me on the streets out in Asia....

Thank you!
