Title: 2001 New Years Poster
Post by: Mechanical-Worm on November 29, 2009, 11:02:27 PM
I recently purchased this poster and was curious to how much it's actually "worth".

I'm not looking to sell it just curious to see if I paid too much.

Hard to tell if original or reprint

But if you get it cheap who cares

It's original.

I have 2 and 1 was free cause I got it in 2002 from someone who ended up attending the show.

How do you know?  Curious because I have one and tend to believe it's not original but I would glad to know if there's someway to tell.  These have been on eBay off an on for years and I've always remained skeptical.  Thanks

have you recieved it yet or still waiting for it

this guy on ebay is selling one. looking at the pic it could be the same guy where you got yours from

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Guns-N-Roses-2001-Las-Vegas-FGX-Concert-Poster-Mint-CD_W0QQitemZ180439414878QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a0306f85e (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Guns-N-Roses-2001-Las-Vegas-FGX-Concert-Poster-Mint-CD_W0QQitemZ180439414878QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a0306f85e)

because these prints are pretty scarce would it be possible to have a "stock photo" or would the seller need to photograph the actual item

Nope thats not it, and yeah I ahve it

so why not post a proper pic rather than a stock photo which could be a reprint

Anyone have any idea what the difference would be. Maybe a thicker paper for the original? I think it's a cool "poster", so I'd settle for something that wasn't the original if it didn't cost too much and looked close enough.

Same seller. I was watching the one that he bid on myself. Debating it, but passed.

Thats not it, I just used that picture because its the only one I know of thats detailed enough without taking one myself. I didn't purchase my poster off ebay.

I'll post one later.

I couldn't really get that good of a picture. The cam I have has no flash so it doesn't show up well way to dark. Basically it looks like Troccolis but appears to be on thicker paper do to the fact that it looks as though his needs to be held now to be open and mine doesn't. Both of mine are on heavy quality type paper not like most flyers I have seen.

that's not much money really

two of my UK promo posters cost  $150 each but they were Autographed
And also my two Melbourne 1993 Subway posters (approx $150 each)

how can you judge the thickness of paper from a pic? fair enough there are objects in the corners to hold it open but that doesnt mean anything
could you take a pic maybe during the daytime without needing a flash?.... you do have a daytime where you live dont you  :hihi:

also the thicker paper doesnt mean its legit though, most promo posters and flyers etc are on the cheaper type paper anyway to reduce cost

i am noticing on the pic provided by troccoli that his has a white border.  that is how mine looks and it is printed on kind of thick paper.  i got mine of of ebay right around the time the concert was going to happen (not sure if they started reprinting them that fast).  just wondering myself if i have an original due to the white boarder and the thicker paper (probably to be posted on telephone poles and crap).  if original, it would be cool to have an idea of what it is worth.

ha ha, i bet you were the person who outbid me right at the end. i don't care if it's not an original, either. i'm sure the originals probably aren't in as good of condition or as sturdy.
