Title: HBO's Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame: The new Guns N' Roses SHOULD Be There
Post by: Buddha_Master on October 20, 2009, 05:45:52 PM
I was watching HBO (Curb) and they are starting to promote the event. Normally this show isn't that big of a deal but this time things are different. It is getting the whole HBO special presentation treatment and that is a very big deal. Full HD 5.1 special prime time event with many many replays. A very classy production.

The bands that are there, Metallica included, flying by through the promo and no sign of GN'R. At the end of the promo there is the disclaimer that there will very special surprises promised. Now, I assume it will not be GN'R but what I am getting at is that they really should be fucking on this. And it pisses me off that they probably won't be. With Chinese Democracy out, with this upcoming tour... they could have made a real push here towards relevancy.

So what the fuck? This will not be the typical cheesy event. Axl should be there. He should fucking be there. Axl and the new GN'R should fucking be at this Rock N' Roll event! Motherfucker what the fuck?!

It's only bands and singers that are IN the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

I always thought the concepts of "Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame" and "relevancy" were mutually exclusive.

I think you're putting too much importance on an event that won't expand their base and do little other than solidify Axl and GNR's iconic status.

Moreover, GNR in many people's eyes is a new band.  I see it unlikely that when it comes time to induct GNR, guys like Frank, Richard and Bumblefoot are going to have their names attached to the plaque or whatever they use to signify recognition.  As much as I love the band, it's not this iteration of Guns that's propelling them towards hall certification.

Now, having Axl show up and perform with another legendary musician, like he did with Springsteen in '94 would be awesome (mind you, GNR showing and playing would be awesome too, but that's not being realistic and consistent with what the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is all about).

Cheers,

Andrew

Actually anyone on a recorded album can be inducted. That's why Dave Mustaine was left out..

Who cares about the Rock N" Roll Hall of Frame, it a bag of shit, the votes are made by a board of business men, who don't have a clue about music.

It not even been going that long, it a fucking joke, it built for sell outs and musicians who do what there told..... that why slash is always there  ;D

There is/was no need for them to be there. I mean It would be kinda pointless even if the orignal gnr was in the hof I don't think they would want the new guns playing.
Just a feeling a have
.
Peace
