Welp the floors and cheap seats for this show are now gone :) I'm actually really excited for this. Last show I saw at Copps was Tool and I didn't have floors.

If worst comes to worst folks, there is a Swiss Chalet like 2 minutes from the venue that seemed to be popular for pre-drinks before the two TOOL shows back in 2007.

Drinks and piping hot chicken soup sounds pretty awesome for the middle of January :hihi:

We got a hotel room in Copps, I wonder if they will be a live feed ?

You musta got one in the sheritan hotel attached to copps, best part is that is likely where they are staying too, there is a series of underground tunnels from the hotel to copps for bands

I went last Friday here in MI to get my EDL. Went pretty smoothly, I hope it goes the same for you. I'll be seeing them in London the night after you do!

Both the Honest Lawyer and Waltz are the closest you'll get, inside Jackson Square and are attached to Copps Coliseum and the Sheraton Hotel.  I've been to both bars before other shows, it'll be a little busy...less busy if you plan on staying until midnight.   :hihi:

London's pre-party is at Jack's (the bar, not the poster). If it's bloody freezing in Hamilton come January, I'll be at the Swiss Chalet a block from the venue having a quarter chicken dinner and a rum and Coke ;)

It's definately more of a restaurant than a bar, but it was very popular when I saw Tool twice at Copps Coliseum back in 2007.

If everyone wants a definite bar instead, I was talking to someone who lives in the Hamilton area the other day who recommended a place called "Tailgates."

I don't mind if you can get food. I'm assuming some people might wanna eat and others just wanna have drinks...

Tailgate Charlies is fucking awesome one of the best bars here, but its a walk and a half in the freezing Jan weather, there is also hess village in the area which is a shit load of bars on a small street, not too far walking to venue, if you guys need more info I live here, here is a small map of where these locations are...

the best thing about venue is there is a mall attached to it so if you get real cold jump in and warm up!

Sounds like gunsguy might be the dude to help. I'm good with whatever as long as I can get fairly cheap drinks before having to pay top dollar (I'm assuming) at the venue. I'll be checking into the hotel in Hamilton early in the day (3pm?) so as long as there's a definite place decided on before I leave Detroit, I'm happy.  :hihi:

I'm in the same boat as Jarmo; I don't care if it's more of a restaurant than I bar, I just want a place for drinks on the cheap side and that will be ok with a "party" environment as the show approaches.

The show is going to be great, I can't wait.

If I do go anywhere pre-show it'll be either The Honest Lawyer or Waltz which are both inside Jackson Square, both of them are located on the south side (King St.) of the mall closer to the west side (Bay St.) entrance.  But I'll be going late knowing Axl's preferences, I'm not worried about missing Danko or Sebastian Bach.

I'm close too.. Burlington, used to live in the Hammer..Honest Lawyer is RIGHT there around the corner..drinks last I was there were a bit pricey but not too bad..But AMM has it right..Swiss is a silly chicken restaurant but it isn't expensive and you could walk just down the street in 3 minutes and be at the main doors of the venue...I think we should do BOTH..dinner at Swiss and few drinkable then journey over to Honest Lawyer to meet more peeps and more drinks ..then venue..who's with me?

I'll more than likely swing by the pre show(weather pending of course)... I'd prefer a good local non chain food joint, as I have been to swiss chalet here in the states and am not very impressed... But either way i'd be there

There is a massive parking lot right in front of venue, if ya wanna party there, or the mall that is attached to venue has a walkable roof on it, the whole roof is full of paths to walk on

I drove from Detroit to NYC for Hammerstein in 06. We had a BALL with some dudes who flew in from Chicago for the show. I'm hoping we all have a great time at both of these pre-parties in the same fashion!

thats not entirely true, every show I have attended on the floor I get up there, and most I came in right after opening band during the drink/piss break lol

I just want to make sure the wife and I make it there, even if I have to line up at 6 am!

It's not a chain, it's indoors, it's not far from the venue.

Now I'm not aware of how good it is since I'm not a local...

Maybe one of the locals (gunsguy?) could confirm if it's a good place for us? From what I read on Google, looks great to me. There will be 3 people in my group, we'll be in town very early in the afternoon and we're meeting up with Neemo as well. So we'll be traveling with our own "mini-party" as is lol.

From wht I have heard its a decent place never been myself though, be about a $7.00 cab ride with the one way streets

its not a far walk its in the hess village bar district, the street is lined with bars there great Jarmo!

less than 10 minutes, guys the bar jarmo said or the gown and gavel are beside each other, there are over 30 bars attached right there, great place

As a non-local, I defer to Gunsguy/others on choice of venue.....but count me in!   :yes:

put it this way you walk for one minute turn right onto the main street and cut through the parking lot that is in front of venue could not be faster, I will not be attending but I think that is the best place to go

When we went to Hammerstein in 06 it was a bit cold out for May but the alcohol definitely helped. I'm sure the same will be true in Canada.

We're planning on leaving Detroit around 10am. Barring weather or border crossing issues, it looks like it'll take us 3 1/2 hours to get to Hamilton. So we should be ready to drink by 1pm or so.

I'm leaving outside of Buffalo between 11am-Noon... We're gonna swing by the falls for a little bit on the way(usually dont miss it when we go to Canada, especially cause we havent been there since the new border crossing rules)

Then we may go some other places on the way, so hopefully i'll be able to find you guys by then

The earlier the better is good for us. I'll have my laptop and pretty cool new phone I got today with me so I should be able to check the board long after we leave Detroit in case plans change.

I was about to purchase tickets for this, drive up and see this and the London show -- but due to conflicting schedules, I got shafted.

I am BEYOND pissed off right now. I wanted floor seats for this SO bad and settled for lower bowl at the back of the venue.

Yeah, everyone says tickets open up a week or less before the show, and I almost held out... But I didnt dare with the show being in canada and having to invest in an EDL...

That's what I did. As soon as the tickets got to the back of the lower bowl I got scared and pulled the trigger. But I was hoping for floor to open up at some point.

3 days til I get to see the best band in the world again.

How difficult is crossing the border? I am new to this area, and I have only crossed into Windsor using that bus.

I've only been over the border once in about 10 years. Luckily enough it was about 4 weeks ago. It went smooth enough. Coming back in to the US was much more of a hassle if I remember right. Just alot more questions and what not.

I plan on being at the bar around 7:00 - 8:00 and then making my way to the venue for 9:00ish.  Not really interested in Danko, I've seen Baz five times the last tour so I'm cool with catching the last half of his act (when he plays the hits).  Plus I'm not a fan of getting to the venue too early only to have over-priced alcohol cut off on me for some arbitrary reason.

To bad quick thinking was not coming easily once you spotted him (starstruck for sure in my case!!) else could've invited Baz to your house and fixed him up a good quiet meal.......and the + + points you would've won with your wife for that would probably have been off the chart! 

Baz gives very cool energy - I loved the genuine smile he gave when we told him we were there for the show.

I had trouble with the law years and years ago. I went over the border about a month ago just to make sure everything was ok before I got my hopes up and spent all this money. There was no problem then and now they won't let me in. I begged. I explained how much money I'd spent and explained how I really need them to make an exception for me. No dice. They all seemed quite please (literally they were laughing to each other) about not letting me in.

I was DYING to hear either There Was A Time or Prostitute tonight. Maybe they'll play one or the other for me? Lol

They gave me a ton of excuses and explanations about much money I could spend on trying to get them to let me in. It involved hundreds of dollars and waiting periods of months and months at a time.

I'm not investing one red cent in Canada.

The only reason I was going there and bringing people was to see my favorite band from the US anyways.

At this point, I'm stuck hoping to God for a US tour sooner than later.

Not a clue. But that's why I did that. I went over the border right after I got my EDL just to make sure everything was ok before I went and spent all this money and so on.

Seriously man i'd write my congressman or something... It just sounds like they're being pricks, and using selective enforcement....
I mean you have all the documents (which you would not have been able to get if you were a threat), and they let you in once already (It can be proved by checking the status of scans on your EDL)
