Title: If you could pick one old GNR song?
Post by: GNR4LIFEJD on August 30, 2009, 12:08:07 AM
I don't know if this has been done before and if so im sorry but i was listening to some old gnr the other day and it had me thinkin if there was just ONE old gnr song that you could have the new line up re-record what would it be. For me i was listening to Dont Damn Me and was thinkin how the new line up woudl record that song i think it would be sweet. Hope this topic draws some good thoughts. I know it may be easy to say some of the classic old stuff like WTTJ, Paradise City or Sweet Child but how about some of the other not as much played on radio atleast.

Anything but Estranged, leave it alone please

I always thought the new band did a great job on Nightrain especially Bucket on the solo

Don't Cry, the original version, one song I'm sure to pick everytime when creating a playlist. Just does it for me always, regardless of mood, my all time favorite.

If I had to pick a "previously done by GnR's cover" for the new set up it would be New Rose, loved it is both by Guns' and The Damned.

I totally agree on the nightrain selection bucketheads solo was amazing when he did it. Ill be interested to see who gets the end on it now when DJ starts playin it. And is it me or is Dont Damn Me one of the hardest rockin songs by gnr that rarely gets talked about maybe its me but whenever i hear that song i think its one of the best rock songs they have that no one mentions.

Sorry I would have to say Estranged. I love it the way it is but would really like to see what these guys could do to it.

I couldnt pick just one.

Nightrain - for Buckethead's solo
Civil War - because it's awesome
Novermber Rain - I would like to hear it be more like Axl's original demo

One in a million.... great song
and monumental promotion !!!

20+ years ago when he wrote it, they had a black guy in the band. Politics has changed in 25 years. Axl would get lynched even worse than he did in '88 for having a song like OIAM today.

Anything but Sweet Child O' Mine. They re-recorded it on the soundtrack to an Adam Sandler movie, and it sounded terrible.

I'd love a new Paradise City.

maybe slash, duff, izzy and steven could do "Better"  :hihi:
thats not the question being asked..

I would go pick Nightrain.   Thats an example of a song that was perfected over time  :)

I've always thought of the new band playing Ain't it Fun with Robin's solo, but that can't happen anymore..

I'd say Locomotive with all the crazyness mid solos played by Ron and the ending by... DJ, I guess.

Breakdown, Perfect Crime, Don't Damn Me would be awesome too.

Coma already had cool production and the solos are insane!

I'd say Coma. It's such an epic song. Leave the main riff and let the new players have a go at the solos. The lyrics are amazing as well.
