What do you think? Title: Re: Should I use alternate picking when I play Don't Cry...? Post by: Genesis on August 22, 2009, 02:28:09 AM Yes. I don't see why Don't Cry is so special. You would use alternate picking for most songs unless a riff specifically uses only up or down strokes.

Title: Re: Should I use alternate picking when I play Don't Cry...? Post by: Genesis on August 22, 2009, 05:12:14 AM I use alternate picking for everything. The only time when I use strict up strokes or down strokes are for some hammer on / pull off riffs that run vertically down the fretboard or for example during sweeps. I don't think there are 'strict rules' as to when to use alternate picking. Just go with the flow.
