I need a steady sleep rhythm.. when I sleep out much later then normal or get up much earlier then normal I wind up with a big headache.

I've been having major trouble sleeping for like 3 months now. My job requires that I get up by 5:30 a.m. So in a perfect world I would like to be asleep by 9:30 pm. I don't have health insurance, so I can't afford to go see a doctor for a proper sleep aid. So I take 2 Excedrin PMs and a .5mg xanax at around 8:30. It works, but I don't want to have to rely on pills to sleep.  My bed could have something to do with it as well. It's very uncomfortable, but beds ain't cheap either, haha. I hope to have a new bed within a month, hopefully that'll help.

Drinking before bed usually helps me sleep. Don't take pills though, look at Michael Jackson.

During the summer after I left the military and before I entered college, I went through about a 4 month spell of going to bed at around 11 am and getting up about 7 pm............it was rough especially since I wasn't working or anything.  I just hung out at night and then would come home around 5-6 am and read or watch some TV then crash.  Very rough on the body though.

The pills he took were way to strong for him to even have if memory serves me right...

I've been putting in an average of 7 to 8 hours/week of run/bike/swim.
When my head hits the pillow, I'm out like a light.

It's tough for folks with hectic and unpredictable schedules though.  That said, if you can fit "kick your ass" workouts into your schedule, you'll sleep better without the need for drugs.

I can close my eyes and be asleep in less than a minute when I'm tired, I love taking a nap if necessary as well.  Sleep is never a issue for me, not even if I'm stressed, but for the most part I am a very early riser.  I get up to have quiet time to myself before I have to wake up the hubby for work and youngest still in school come fall.  Even though it is summer time and I could sleep later summer is my favorite season, so I awake at sun up, more time in the day that way, and it is cool as well.

My husband on the other hand takes a prescribed, non addictive sleep aid when he has trouble falling asleep, but not every nite thank goodness as the snoring created by that good sleep can get pretty loud if your not asleep first.

Try to stay on a schedule and as mentioned above a good hard workout or something that kicks your butt to make you tired.

Good Luck

1st off, MsAxl, I'm an "early riser" as well.  :hihi:  My wife appreciates that.  :)

2nd.  Jdog, I didn't realize you're a high schooler.  The teen years are fucking crazy.  Hormones are raging.  Stress can be seemingly out of control.  You'll look back at it and laugh about what you thought was important, really doesn't mean shit.  Keep up the fun exercise, laugh, and hit the books.  It will all work out.   :peace:  btw, ditch the caffeine, take the tv out of the bedroom, you'll be fine.  :peace:
