Title: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: w.axl.rose on July 23, 2009, 03:47:29 AM :o :o Johnny Depp is going to be awesome :smoking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjtJBucdBqg Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: fear the juggalo 2 on July 23, 2009, 04:20:46 AM another 3-d movie. i wonder if this is a fad, or if everything is gonna be 3-d in a few years?
Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: Loaded NightraiN on July 23, 2009, 09:50:43 AM ugh another burton/depp abortion
I cant believe there is a market for this kind of crap Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: DeN on July 23, 2009, 11:53:50 AM I love Lewis Carroll, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, I can't be disapointed.
and the trailer looks very good and funny. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on July 23, 2009, 01:18:35 PM ugh another burton/depp abortion  I cant believe there is a market for this kind of crap People eat this stuff up like candy. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: D on July 23, 2009, 01:32:28 PM U won't find a bigger Johnny Depp fan than I am He has been my favorite actor since 21 Jumpstreet back in the 80's and even then I knew he'd turn into something amazing........ but This kind of really goes over the line to territory I thought he'd never cross.
I love his off beat, weird almost B movie like shit. Now he is getting too mainstream I doubt I will see this Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: CheapJon on July 23, 2009, 01:35:00 PM D, how many artists, actors, sport teams etc. are you the biggest fan of? ;)
Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: D on July 23, 2009, 02:10:48 PM D, how many artists, actors, sport teams etc. are you the biggest fan of? ;) I know one person I am not the biggest fan of and he's pretty cheap :-* Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: Mysteron on July 23, 2009, 04:13:26 PM I see no problem with Depp doing this kind of film. Charlie and The Chocolate factory was a kids story with a gothic edge to it. Alice in Wonderland is a story that is fantasy for kids, but creative nonsense for adults.
Depp has played two challenging characters in both movies. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: Albert S Miller on July 23, 2009, 10:31:42 PM I see no problem with Depp doing this kind of film. Charlie and The Chocolate factory was a kids story with a gothic edge to it. Alice in Wonderland is a story that is fantasy for kids, but creative nonsense for adults. I agree with you, I find it fasinating that he mostly chooses what I call the more creative films along with the most challenging character. That is really what I would call excellent acting, and it takes great acting skill to pull off such roles.Depp has played two challenging characters in both movies. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: nekomex on July 23, 2009, 11:36:03 PM it looks fun, im a big fan of Alice in Wonderland. i also sometimes get tired of the Burton/Deep freaky attitude, it starts to look like they are trying to hard. but well this one looks cool. the guy from Little Britain is there also portaying the twins.
Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: AxlReznor on July 24, 2009, 08:29:49 AM I think this movie looks awesome. The only Burton/Depp collaboration I haven't liked is Corpse Bride. This looks like it'll be similar to Charlie & The Chocolate Factory which was awesome. And even if the movie itself isn't that good, Tim Burton is one of those directors who is always fascinating just for the art direction even when he isn't firing on all cylinders (with the exception of Planet Of The Apes, which had too much interference from the studio).
Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: mrlee on July 26, 2009, 06:24:54 AM 3D movies dont even work.
I dont see the need for them. Ive always thought it was a very gimmicky thing. i have no issue with a film being in high quality on a screen. It is what it is. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: Annie on July 26, 2009, 08:37:16 AM I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie.

Ive always thought it was a very gimmicky thing. i have no issue with a film being in high quality on a screen. It is what it is. Supposedly this will all change with the release of Avatar in December. James Cameron has spent years developing the technology for Avatar (which is being used in Alice In Wonderland, too), in order to make 3D movies a genuine experience as opposed to a cheap gimmick. I'll reserve my judgment on that until I actually see Avatar, but everyone who's been allowed glimpses of it seem to think it's amazing. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: ppbebe on July 27, 2009, 01:49:19 PM yep the he traile rlooks fascinating.
the image of Disney's alice or the illustration in the original book by lewis carrol still sticks in my mind that i feel a bit strange to see the big girl alice. and i always thought the mad hatter looked like david bowie. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: LunsJail on July 27, 2009, 02:39:03 PM I liked this movie the first time I saw it when it was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: ppbebe on July 27, 2009, 02:53:31 PM I liked this movie the first time I saw it when it was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so you're implying that this is only a rehash of the Chocolate Factory Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: LunsJail on July 27, 2009, 03:20:26 PM I liked this movie the first time I saw it when it was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so you're implying that this is only a rehash of the Chocolate Factory Same basic concept. Depp plays a kooky character opposite children in a Burton movie. Just feels like we've seen it. Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: LittleFly on July 27, 2009, 04:38:06 PM I'd want to see the movie whether or not Depp was in it. I don't see actors, I see characters :) And this story has some AMAZING characters in it. I can't wait to see a modern version of it ;D
Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on July 27, 2009, 05:09:43 PM I read the book.

Yeah... must be difficult to read with that huge poster of horsey you have in your room. Thankfully I read the book wayyyy before the poster. I can't concentrate on anything anymore. maybe for elize by Beethoven and prostitute have same basic concept.... You mean Fur Elise? That composition is commonly believed to be written for a lady, whereas Prostitute (I'm assuming you are talking about the Axl Rose song) is mostly about Slash. Maybe you are making the connection between those songs because they have a piano in it? Title: Re: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Post by: LunsJail on July 27, 2009, 05:38:11 PM I liked this movie the first time I saw it when it was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so you're implying that this is only a rehash of the Chocolate Factory Same basic concept. Personally I don't see a trace of slash on the song.
It's 'for fans/dear listeners' as affectionate as for Elise. Or as the original alice's adventures in wonderland for Alice and her sisters. Actually in this sense, i think The whole album is like 'fans adventures in the GNR wonderland'. They keep churning out the crap and everyone gobbles it up. More power to them, I say. I always think of that scene from the "Another Brick in the Wall" video where the kids go into the meat grinder. That's our society. |
