Title: Axls reaction to Kurt/Dave Grohl MTV AWARDS
Post by: Lorenzo on June 28, 2009, 10:58:55 AM
HI,

Hope this is the right section  :-X

Just wondering, did axl ever comment on the crap that went on between Kurt and Courtney at the mtv awards?
and also Dave Grohls "hi axl" comments?

I know axl was a nirvana fan and was disapointed they wouldnt play at his birthday and Kurt never hid his dislike of gnr. Did Axl stop liking them after this?
thanks

They both challenged each other to fights in the media, safe to say Axl didnt/doesnt like Kurt (As for the music, i dunno)

Kurt never challenged Axl to a fight

that was Vince Neil.

I think at one time Axl was a big fan of Nirvana's because he wanted them to open for the Guns/Metallica tour but Kurt said he would not open for such a sexist band or something along those lines.

I also remember reading that Axl wanted a Nevermind sound to the drums on CD.

Nah, just because he hired Wallace doesn't mean he wanted to nail down the Nevermind sound.

It was a comment from Sean Beaven (IIRC at least) in the July issue of Spin. What the world needs now is Axl Rose.

I really wish Axl would stop being a butt-munch and do something already! I mean how many other bands have the problems this new GnR have??? Axl has too much money and time. I think it would be great if he lost all his money and had to make a raw album just to make ends meet...thats the Axl I miss damnit!

He's worked hard his whole life and has accomplished more than most in a lifetime. He shouldn't have to appease those who seem to never be satisfied.

I think you missed the point. It was nice when Axl had to be great in order to survive.

I liked CD alot and have a feeling the next one may even be better, just wish the guy could really get the ball rolling.

Just watched the Nirvana/GNR performance back to back and it seriously is laughable all these years later that there ever was a "Feud"

that NR is from one of the greatest bands of all time. That performance is so Epic and legendary whereas Nirvana look like a bunch of guys I see playing power chords in their basement and singing out of tune.

Funny what the record companies deem cool init? ...just look at american pop for example!

OF course I am a GNR fan so I seem completely biased but I am not.

As a musician, if u just see what GNR are doing musically and compare that to what Nirvana are doing up there musically......... I mean Dave Grohl is awesome on the drums but the rest of that..................

I actually do like Nirvana but their music is probably some of the easiest to play in music history

Axl = better singer/frontman and songwriter than Kurt.
Slash = better guitar player than Kurt.
Izzy = probably better guitar player than Kurt.
Duff = Better and cooler than Krist.
Steven = worse than Dave Grohl.
Guns = far more talented and controversial than Nirvana.

Scoreline:  5 - 1 to the Gunners.

I try not to read too much into all this inter-band feud bollocks. I love both bands and for me, how technical or whatever a band's music is doesn't really affect my enjoyment of it. I've read Kurt's comments about Axl and GNR and no, I don't agree with them but that cause me to dislike Nirvana. Amazing. :o :P

I think it was a little more than the record companies that liked Nirvana. And I'm not sure what you're comparing there with the "American pop" example. Boy bands?

Kurt was wrong to hate on Ax.

Ax wasn;t trying to demean Nirvana by inviting them to perform as his birthday in 1992, but for an up and coming band with a different sound and a rival for attention, it does seem a lil bit insulting.

Ax invited them to TOUR with the band in 92, not to play a birthday gig.

I've heard the birthday and 2 tour offers were turned down.

YA think the birthday gig was a slap in the face after Kirk turned down the tour offer?

I don't know if he had a particular dislike for any of the others personally. I know that when he escaped from rehab and flew home, he sat next to Duff and they talked.

i think it was ok for nirvana to reject the tour offer if they didnt agree with the "corporate rock" but what i found annoying its that Kurt Cobain started making public displays of him and his band being too cool to play with Guns, and then they started critizising Axl and the band just so they could look like a Revolutionary band or whatever. and in the end his band ended up being a much more corporated band than Guns. (even when he was still alive)

Has anyone ever had a disagreement with someone in high school? Are you still bitter about it today? I think everyone involved in this has probably moved on at this point (except for Kurt of course).

Agreed. If people don't like Nirvana's music, fine, but holding a gru(n)dge about comments from the early 90s....

Imagine if we all stopped listening to bands who've had run-ins and feuds with Axl Rose over the years.... :hihi:

Kurts problems with Axl as far as I remember were strictly political/personal.  He had a problem with what Axl said in "One in a Million" and a huge problem with the reports of how Axl allegedly treated women.  The jabs he took at them musically were probably just Kurts way of getting under GNR's skin, Kurt had a problem with Axl the person, or actually more importantly the person Kurt thought Axl was, dont think he ever really took the time to actually get to KNOW him, just what he heard about him.

Considering you dislike glam metal id of thought Kurt would of been the second coming of Jesus Christ to you.

Nirvana are alright. Providing its not "that" song being played, i dont find myself wanting to turn it off.

But i dont find myself wanting to seek out their albums from the dusty ruins of my CD rack to listen to them.

I personally think if Kurt were alive today, they probably would of put it behind them. Dave Grohl has. Courtney Love has. Kris has too judging from the way he n Duff mention each other in their own blogs.

I like Guns n Roses, and I like Nirvana. What happened between them doesn't affect us, and is really none of our business. So...whatever about all of that. I like what I like, and if the people that I like don't like each other, it doesn't matter at all.  :smoking:

You would think he would be but really Axl is that 2ed Jesus for me. True Kurt by now would put it in the past but people that still want to fight about it piss me off. My brother for example still holds a ?grudge? :hihi: (pun fully intended) against Axl and we debate about it regularly.
