Title: Tour or New Album? Post by: LIGuns on June 28, 2009, 08:41:09 AM Normally I'd be frusterated with such a topic.. But at this time it seems nothing is hapening w/ CD..I wonder if DJ Asba was brought in to polish up some material, as he did w/ SIXX AM and Motley Crue?
Was CD released as a personal artistic goal for Axl with a more comercially accepted album for the general fan base on the horizon..I personally LOVE CD. Some songs took awhile to truely appreciate, If The World for example. I'm just wondering what people feel at this time..Has your opinion recently changed on the status of the promotion behind CD? Will a tour at such a late stage drastically improve sales. To me thos album needs the push of a large scale tour. As much as I would love new material I want the masses to hear and appreciate this MASTERPIECE!!!! Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: cineater on June 28, 2009, 09:38:53 AM Personally, I have this cd and I'm ready for the next. I'd hate to be stalled out on new music while the only purpose of touring is just to promote this album.
But then again it's fun to have them on tour and if there is never another cd, not that I'm saying there won't be, I can still be excited about them being out on the road. Sales and top of the pile stuff doesn't really mean anything to me. As long as the band is still alive. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: GnR-NOW on June 28, 2009, 09:51:01 AM I'd love new Gn'R material, but theres nothing like seeing them live either.
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: ppbebe on June 28, 2009, 11:00:23 AM both :D
in whatever order. when they are ready. Sales and top of the pile stuff doesn't really mean anything to me. As long as the band is still alive. agreed and at the same time I'll be happy for the band and for the masses when cd reaches the masses in earnest. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: seely on June 28, 2009, 11:04:09 AM I prefer getting new music, so id rather get a new album before a tour

Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: younggunner on June 28, 2009, 04:49:08 PM album then a long ass tour with a monster set
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: estebanf on June 28, 2009, 05:10:06 PM being 7 months away from the album release, I really prefer a tour. I'm still obsessed with CD and I think I need more time to explore and enjoy it. I'm still tied to these 14 songs, and I would relly love to hear them performed live before a new album is released.
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Trist805 on June 28, 2009, 05:26:12 PM I want to see them tour and play these new songs. It would definitely build up some more interest in CD.
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Six Strings on June 28, 2009, 05:58:36 PM A tour definitely. It's just that I am hoping for GN'R live. I miss it.
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: AtariLegend on June 28, 2009, 06:33:12 PM Tour, because I want the material that they have already released to be a bit more successful.
I obviously want to hear more music, but at the same time I want other people to appreciate it more. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Classic Case on June 28, 2009, 09:04:04 PM tour
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Jizzo on June 29, 2009, 12:11:36 AM either one
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: TomFriend on June 29, 2009, 12:14:46 AM I'd be happy to take studio albums with only occasional one-off live appearances. It just seems like the studio is where Axl's muse is at. Unfortunately, with album sales down the toilet (generally speaking - not just for GNR) touring is pretty much a necessity.

Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Bitch Slap Rappin on June 29, 2009, 11:15:28 AM I think first Axl has to ask himself if he wants to continue to be an entertainer in the music business.
Second he needs to find one lead-guitarist who is going to work with him exclusively on writing new songs. Than perhaps he can release a new cd and tour it. The cd and tour should be bare-bones hard rock & roll. Get a great drummer; bassist; 2nd guitarists and perhaps a keyboardist if they are going to do any songs requiring that instrument. As far as the old band reunion that's not going to happen. It all comes down to what Axl wants. I kind of think Axl no longer wants to deal with the bullshit of the music business; promoters and whatever else that goes along with it. I can respect his wishes. He's a smart man. I'm convinced he wants to live in peace for the rest of his years to come and not end up being a puppet and dying from a drug overdose. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? The problem is the CD has lost the main guitarists to perform CD. At this point I can't comment on DJ because I've never heard him and his guitar chops with Nicky Sixx. A tour for CD would be great but obviously there is a problem weather it's the band or contracts (I'm not sure and I don't even know if what we've read or heard is the truth. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: snead hearn on June 29, 2009, 11:15:29 PM Release new album, then tour with less than 25% of the entire set being a mix of AFD/Lies/UYI songs.
And tour mid size theatres. CD is too creatively and sonically brilliant to lose out in a monstro arena. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Alfie Bones on June 30, 2009, 01:49:36 AM 1. Release Live Era - '01-'07 in 2009
2. Release New Album in 2010 3. New Tour in 2010 Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: sofine11 on June 30, 2009, 02:24:07 AM New album this fall coinciding with an immediate tour, much like AC DC and Metallica did this past fall, would be ideal. But why should they start that whole "normal band" thing now. :hihi:
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Malcolm on June 30, 2009, 09:08:49 AM Well I found this quite odd...I was watching either TSN or the Score I forget now, last night and they were talking about a giveaway, I forget the first of the two prizes and but the second was a chance to see guns n roses live on tour...did anyone else see that?
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: TomFriend on June 30, 2009, 09:34:09 AM I'd fucking love them to do residencies at theaters performing C.D. front to back, film that sucker and put it out on a DVD. However, the chances of such an occurrence are eclipsed by the chances of my testicles turning into the Olsen twins and making out with each other.
Well I found this quite odd...I was watching either TSN or the Score I forget now, last night and they were talking about a giveaway, I forget the first of the two prizes and but the second was a chance to see guns n roses live on tour...did anyone else see that? Nice! That could be like the infamous "Win a cameo in The Mask 2" competition.Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: jarmo on June 30, 2009, 09:43:43 AM The fact that the release of the current album was such a struggle, I'd say a tour seems "easier".
Especially if the tour starts in places that actually love GN'R. But I'm just assuming that it would be easier to deal with promoters compared to Interscope.... :nervous: /jarmo Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Honestly, I'd be good with a tour starting elsewhere then the US. I mean bootlegs are pretty readily available and just to hear them playing live. I'm enjoying the hell out of the album so I'm not even concerned with more material just yet. I'd just love to see GNR out playing, wherever it may be. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: ppbebe on June 30, 2009, 11:22:39 AM yea and i'd love to enjoy the hell out of the songs on the album as possible live. as many cd songs as possible.
so naturally, tours first. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Lorenzo on June 30, 2009, 11:32:46 AM either would be a miracle.
But a tour would be best plus its promotion. After the 06-07 runs the greatest hits sales etc rocketed for a few weeks so naturally more sales of cd would arise from a tour. Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: Loaded NightraiN on June 30, 2009, 01:35:14 PM tour it like fucking crazy I say tour it like fucking crazy I say What the hell ??? Nice! Post by: Alfie Bones on July 01, 2009, 01:30:54 AM They've already done two ChiDem tours, and since the 2006 one had crisp Axl vocals, Izzy, and Baz, I don't see how a 2009 or 2010 ChiDem tour could be any better. I'd go to a gig or two, no doubt, but what makes more sense musically?
Title: Re: Tour or New Album? Post by: seely on July 01, 2009, 05:41:22 AM Well they'd have a full album to promote and play songs from, the others were more kind of 'sneak peaks' IMO,
