Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Last night on Late Nite With Jimmy Fallon, he announced that the band that gets the most requests on his Twitter account is going to receive an invite from NBC to play on his show. NBC is going to try their absolute hardest to get the winning band to appear.

We know Jimmy is a Guns and Roses fans, so let's bomb him with requests for our favorite band.

Guns could play any show they want anytime. All Axl would have to do is pick up the phone and it would be done.

He's not on TV because he doesn't want to be on TV.

You'd be better off voting for your buddy/neighbor's band.

But maybe they don't do it just because it's not in their plans. If this guy calls them and offers the option of playing live some Chinese Democracy song and maybe a friendly interview with Axl, who knows...

And also nobody expected the 2006 Eddie Trunk interview back then... ::)

this would be a great idea - seeing as the tour was postponed/fell through/ who knows....
the general viewing public could see who's in the band & see how they sound especially since their last glaring image of this band was the 02 VMAs.
plus all that rehearsing gets put to use & then creates awareness around the band.
Who knows, maybe it leads into a tour announcement & eventually the ball rolling in some shape & form!
plus it'd be sick to see Axl talking with Fallon after the performance in a nice little sit down chat

If nothing else, the people doing that show will know GN'R isn't forgotten by their viewers.

I'm pretty sure the band will have received all kinds of appearance requests around the time of the album release. And I'm sure that, like those ones, this would be ignored.

Maybe the next thread will be "vote for the song you want GN'R to perform on the Jimmy Fallon Show"......

It wasn't a joke, unlike your terrifically witty and insightful response to the pointing out of your double-standards.

When everyone else talks about what they'd like the band to do, you're always the first to 'put them in their place'.

If, as you have so enjoyed pointing out countless times, the band will perform when they're good and ready, fans should have no say in the running of things, Axl is a rockstar and we aren't and we have no place telling him how to do his job, I fail to see how petitioning for a TV appearance is any different.

Anyway, my mistake for once again overlooking the 'don't ever disagree with Jarmo' clause.

Axl has always made his own decisions and never taken advice from what popular-opinion dictates he should do. The idea of petitioning for him to make a TV appearance makes about as much sense as petitioning for an album release or an original-lineup reunion. I thought my use of Axl's quote was fairly appropriate and applicable here.

We have a right to request GNR of jimmyfallong as much as GNR has a right not to accept the invitation. 

If you don't want to show your love for GNR, then please stay away from the thread.

I'm not denying anyone's right to request. Just defending my decision not to, and to show my love for the band by actually listening to what Axl says and taking it into consideration.

I assumed that the subject was open for discussion, this being a discussion forum and all. Apparently once again it's a case of the classic "agree with me or shut up". How very insecure you must be.

Double standards my ass, more like common sense.


Common sense tells me that the band will best know what they'll play at the shows and when to go on. Especially when you're not even at the show!



Common sense also tells me that making a TV network/show aware that GN'R isn't forgotten isn't a bad thing. Just like requesting songs on the radio isn't a bad thing.


By the way. This isn't about us demanding GN'R to play a TV show. This is about having a TV show request GN'R to play.

If you think NBC need to be 'made aware' that getting Axl on their show would get a lot of attention, you must be out of your mind. As others have said, GNR could be on pretty much any show they wanted if they made their interest known.

If Axl wanted to be on TV, he'd do it. Clearly at this moment in time, he doesn't want to, or isn't in a position to do so. Also, Jimmy Fallon is a vocal GNR fan. I'm pretty sure he doesn't need any incentive to book them when the time is right.

Speaking of right, it must be wonderful to have the right view, right ideas and know what's right for the band and fans 100% of the time, Jarmo. The right opinion is your opinion. Always.

FYI, I've always supported Axl's words and views. I may have disagreed with some of them, but I've always considered them. Considering and respecting opposing opinions...probably lost you there.

No reason not to (other than the vague possibility of negative publicity if an invitation is made and refused) if you think it will help in some way. Again, I just happen to disagree and following Jarmo's response to that, felt I should elaborate on my reasons.

No harm there either...or if so, only to the particularly fragile ego of someone who desperately wants everyone to agree with him.

The irony is that you're feeding my fragile (but apparently over sized) ego by constantly feeling the need to talk about me.

I enjoy how instead of just sending a request to Fallon's Twitter in a method to support our favorite band, that people would rather sit here and write paragraphs explaining their reasons not to and making lame comments toward Jarmo.

How can people turn a simple thing like answering a request from Jimmy Fallon for the hell of it to show GNR's relevance to a big negative onslaught?

If you guys are going to shoot a Twitter message to Fallon, do it. If you're going to spend your time "defending your decision not to", get a life. It's not a big deal and should not warrant that much of your time.

On a positive note, I am hearing from a lot of people on GNR's facebook groups and other boards that are sending in GNR as the request to Fallon. Hell, the guy got Mark Paul Gosselaar to revive his Zack Morris character, let's give him another challenge!!  : ok:

Perhaps you just need to have the last word? Whatever. I don't see why me feeling that asking a company to beg Axl for an appearance that he will inevitably reject is pointless should be a big deal to anyone, least of all anyone of as blinkered and unshakable convictions as you.

If anyone here thinks the lack of TV appearances in support of Chinese Democracy were because Axl was willing but appearance requests were lacking speak now and be laughed at uproariously. Reality check, people.

Jarmo somehow thinks I should be held accountable for all fans negative opinions (due to his convenient and narrow-minded compartmentalizing of fans into 'agrees with me' and 'disagrees with me' categories') i.e. "I thought the album was a failure and no one cared anymore" (sentiments I have never personally expressed). If no one cares anymore, its because of the lack of visible promotion for the record, not because of the lack of promotional appearance offers.

Jarmo, you know as well as I do that a single US TV appearance in support of this album would send sales up overnight.

You also know that the reason no such appearances have being forthcoming is through Axl/band choice/incapacity/unavailability, not lack of offers. That is all I am saying, and all I have being saying on this thread.

I know for a fact that Guns were offered several relatively high profile TV appearances in support of the release. If people want to vote or show their support for GNR appearances, yeah, it'll probably cause no harm. But the fact is GNR aren't on TV because they aren't making themselves available for TV at this time, not because they're waiting on an offer. If they win a poll like this, they'll only look bad when they turn the request down or ignore it.

OR, they could surprise everyone and make the appearance.  Just like they surprised everyone by releasing the album last year even as Dr. Pepper was trying to persuade them.

Again it can't hurt so why worry about how BAD they'll look.  Were we worried about how bad they'd look if they didn't make good on Dr. Pepper's request?  Did that not work out in the end?

This is fans fun. a fan calling for fellow fans and we see no harm but fun in responding to it.

You obviously jumped into the conversation later and aren't quite sure what was said.  Because, TomFriend is right! 

People make simple statements (or facts) about the band, and the GNR ass kissers are quick to say.."once again, you make a positive thread into a negative one"...or "your comment has nothing to do with this thread".  In all reality, most of the points people make do have some sort of relevance to the thread based off of what other people have said in the thread.  But to a lot of you, GNR can do absolutely no wrong, so when someone simply gives their opinion (on a message board), that might come out negative, you bitch and moan and make excuses.

I love GNR as much as anyone, but any business man knows that GNR haven't gone about many things the right way.  That is of course, if they want to profit as much as they can off this album and be as popular as they can at this time.  But hell, maybe they don't.  But that's really hard to believe.

I don't see anything wrong with this site being a place where people can come and talk, debate, ask questions, suggest things..etc.  But instead, if often comes across as a "say something positive, or leave" board".  People should be able to voice their opinions...it doesn't mean they hate the band!

I understand your deep devotion to jarmo but this is originally Italy's call about a jimmy fallon show and there's no ass to kiss. GNR isn't concerned with the idea, i believe. Not yet.
