Title: Download festival webcast
Post by: fieldsy on June 12, 2009, 10:28:07 AM
The Download Festival are streaming the 3 day event through webcast on its site. Seems like very good coverage so far, the quality is good.

Every band today is being shown live - that includes Limp Bizkit, Korn and the return of Faith No More.

Times of all the bands on the different days and if they are being shown are on the page in the link.

enjoy

they have 3 albums i think.

The song they did after the hilarious point break reference was soundtrack to resident evil 2 the movie.

They have alot of screaming vocals on earlier work, so it may not be for you. He has a agreat singing voice though when he choices to use it.

I thought the beginning of Limp Bizkit was terrible but it soon turned into a great show. It was especially awesome when Fred asked the two fans to get on the stage.

Korn gave an incredible performance. It was perfect.

Faith no More is rocking right now  :o and the "fat people" joke was so bad it was actually good.
Oh and the "reunited" song at the beginning was awesome  8)

EDIT : LOL at Lady Gaga cover... :hihi:  ;D :crying:

The "pokerface" intro was Lady Gaga, yes  : ok:
I didn't recognize the rest of the song though. It's maybe an "Introduce Yourself" song ? It's the only album I've never heard.  :nervous:

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: Jim on June 12, 2009, 04:50:19 PM
It was Chinese Arithemtic! From the Chuck days, aye, Introduce Yourself. If the setlist stays like this (so far a carbon copy from the other night) then coming up later you've got something that pre-dates even Introduce Yourself...

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: BlowUpYourVideo on June 12, 2009, 04:53:14 PM
I didn't recognise it either. Cheers, Jim!

Something from We Care A Lot? I only own the Patton albums....

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: Jim on June 12, 2009, 04:58:29 PM
Aye. The Chuck stuff is definitely worth checking out!, though, maybe, err, an acquired... Well. If you like, as a feature of your lead singer, that he can sing, well... But, hey!, I like it. And material like Anne's Song and The Crab Song are staples! Though, if you fancy a look at just how much Mike brought to the table (not that you would need it highlighted all too much if you're familiar with Chuck (who I do have a soft spot for!)), check out As The Worm Turns from We Care A Lot followed by the version that they re-recorded with Mike when they were recording Angel Dust. Man alive...

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: Jim on June 12, 2009, 05:06:06 PM
Well, there's the first change in the setlist! Take This Bottle wasn't played the other day, which means that what comes up next is anybodys guess!, all bets are off and all that.

Fantastic!

FNM were great. :D

Good music and bad jokes. ;D

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: Jim on June 12, 2009, 05:46:36 PM
Fuck yeah they were !!

Though I was disappointed that there was no Just A Man (or second encroe!, actually)!, which was arguably the best song the other night. But fuck it, eh. Still a great show.

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: mrlee on June 12, 2009, 05:49:18 PM
faith no more owned.

shame they dressed like old farts though...i dont know why, it just made it weird to watch cause they could still bang the tunes out awesome :S

What was it they said about Motley Crue, i went to the loo n came back n caught the end of it?

Also, did they ever do a studio re-recording of we care alot with mike on vocals?

Title: Re: Download festival webcast
Post by: BlowUpYourVideo on June 12, 2009, 05:54:15 PM
I think it was just a passing refernce to the Crue and Journey with Mike implying that he hoped FNM were better than those two bands. I agree with D, I can't believe the Crue weren't on the main stage.

Just A Man would've been cool.

FInally, what was the song they did at the start? The 'Reunited' one? Is it the Tom Jones song that Google gives me??

id say both bands are on par.

They both are getting on a bit. They both have a large back catalogue. They both gig for the love of music.

Crue still make music so its no bullshit tour like Poison do.

Both bands put alot of effort onstage and get the crowd going.

Fair play to both i say.

Overall a great night

I thought Limp Bizkit, Korn and FNM were all great.

For me FNM suprised me just how good they were live and how well the old songs came across.  Patton's vocal range is out of this world.

Limp Bizkit suprised me and actually got the crowd going.

Korn were just their usual consistent self live.  Just wish they would change their set list about a la GNR as they have a hell of a lot of material now.

But yeah.... was fantastic to have a live webcast of the event - hopefully some other festivals will take note.

Thats what I like about Fred.

he noticed the crowd weren't really feeling them at first so he went and go out into the fucking crowd and in their faces and then they started going crazy.

that was awesome

I'll take Motley over FNM but thats just my preference. FNM don't have Tommy Lee

i'll take live over pre-recorded at gigs, but that's just my preference.

Crue now only use backing tracks on the vocals i think.

Old Crue never used any backing, as evident with those hilarious backing singers they used to have  :hihi:
