JustinHawkins (http://twitter.com/JustinHawkins) On my bed with my bad foot elevated listening to Chinese Democracy. about 3 hours ago from web For those who are not familiar with Justin, he used to be in The Darkness. Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: faldor on June 03, 2009, 03:42:49 PM Didn't that guy have some serious throat problems or something just when The Darkness were really starting to take off?
Maybe not, from wikipedia In October 2006, Hawkins left The Darkness[2]. Although drug and alcohol problems were initially cited as the main reason, later on national television, Hawkins would claim that he had grown tired of the constant routine of the band, recording and promoting an album, going on tours for months, back in the studio, etc. which he considered "monotonous and boring" and "could not understand how bands like the Rolling Stones could sustain it". Nice to know he has good taste. Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: Pinball Wizard on June 03, 2009, 03:57:01 PM Cool find, Jarmo! Kudos! : ok:
I remember there used to be a huge Darkness fan on this board. I'm still a huge fan of The Darkness! It's such a shame the band broke up. :'( Didn't that guy have some serious throat problems or something just when The Darkness were really starting to take off? Yes, he had. It was something like Gastroesophageal reflux disease... Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: younggunner on June 03, 2009, 07:40:07 PM isnt that the band that GNR copied and used as the opening riff of CD?
Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: jarmo on June 03, 2009, 07:51:51 PM isnt that the band that GNR copied and used as the opening riff of CD? Do you believe everything you type? Chinese Democracy was partly written by Josh Freese who left the band in 2000. Three years before the world heard The Darkness' debut album. The song was also performed live years before the world heard of The Darkness. /jarmo Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: Rock the jungle on June 03, 2009, 08:01:14 PM Good words Jarmo : ok:

It's been well-documented that he and the members of the band travel into the future to steal music. I thought everybody knew this! ;D I think younggunner was kidding...I hope younggunner was kidding. :-[ Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: younggunner on June 03, 2009, 11:20:42 PM Axl4Prez you still have that sharp mind...

They broke up not to long after that
Didnt GNR take a shot a these guys in a promo video a few years back (promo for Greatest Hits maybe), buy highlighting "nevermind the darkness", or something like that? Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: Albert S Miller on June 04, 2009, 09:27:33 AM This was brought to my attention: They were on stage when Scott and I arrived at Rio, wasn't familiar with them at all, but thought they were pretty decent, but unique in my mind. I realize making music and touring must be major, but I haven't necessarily ever heard of a "rocker" not enjoying the process in which it takes to do so :(.JustinHawkins (http://twitter.com/JustinHawkins) On my bed with my bad foot elevated listening to Chinese Democracy. about 3 hours ago from web For those who are not familiar with Justin, he used to be in The Darkness. Fun show, nothing really amazing, but entertaining. " I believe in a thing call love" is such a Sing Star anthem over here. Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: jarmo on June 04, 2009, 07:55:44 PM That must've been Christos...I highly doubt you are following Justin Hawkins on Twitter :hihi: For once, he's innocent! /jarmo Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: ppbebe on June 05, 2009, 11:15:11 AM wasnt trying to be clever...i was mocking the types of people who do not do their research when trying to knock one of the greatest albums of all time I know. the thing is, we haven't seen a single darkness reference like that. You could have put " " or a smiley to avoid the fail. Title: Re: Random Chinese Democracy mention Post by: Pinball Wizard on June 05, 2009, 04:36:06 PM Well, since we're on that topic(chinese mentions on musicians' twitter's).

Guns N' Roses Dodges The Salinger Bullet (http://www.cnbc.com/id/31124465) Friday, 5 Jun 2009 58 years after JD Salinger introduced us to Holden Caulfield - we are still obsessed and still reading this classic - and Salinger is still writing about it - in the courts. The 90 year old reclusive author has his lawyers busy trying to block publication of an unauthorized sequel to The Catcher in the Rye... ...Larry Hughes has an interesting take on this story. "In honor of J.D. Salinger?s lawsuit attempting to block publication of an unauthorized sequel to The Catcher in the Rye, my blog Classics Rock! features a roundup of songs that reference the book (by Green Day, Guns N? Roses, and many others) yet somehow dodged the Salinger litigation bullet." |
