Post by: wadey on May 23, 2009, 02:09:36 PM
just got this set of 4 russain flexi discs
has anyone got any info on them as ive not played them. they are approx 5.5" square which is rather small and the tracks are paradise city, mama kin, perfect crime and november rain.
does anyone know if they are studio or live tracks and does anyone know how much theyre worth?

They are not official or been released by GNR in the past.

Most probably be studio tracks from the albums, maybe a bootleg lve version at a psh.

Their worth?  I would say most probably nothing at all TBH

I pretty much realised they are unofficial but unofficial doesnt always mean worthless. I paid next to nothing for them so its no big loss if there worth jack.

Agreed - Top Hat 1, Top Hat 2, UYI wooden box set, The Story Vol.1 and 2 are all unofficial but always fetch high prices on eBay (not that I've seen either Top Hat on there in recent memory).

If I remember correctly, and I may not, it was not complete right?

How can the UYI wooden box be unofficial when it contains 2 official albums?

i think most of the unofficial box sets contain official material.......i dont know how it works with copyright etc though.
in a sense it is only the packaging that has changed. instead of it just been in a sleeve or jewel case it comes in a fancy box etc with a bit more stuff

So you're telling me it did contain all the other items listed on those websites?  Damn!  I would have paid WAY more than 70 pounds.

no, but there's new shit all the time - a new Appetite colored disc, the green and red disc LLAS, the colored bootleg Chinese Democracy LPS, etc.  As for value I'd stay true to the whole "value (like beauty) is in the eye of the beholder" statement, but if you tried to sell 'em I wouldn't expect much.  But lately on eBay I've seen things that I think fetch a high dollar amount sell for very little and vice versa.  So who knows.

the guy told me they were late 80's - early 90's but i think theyre more recent.
your right about the ebay stuff at the moment. the more common mass produced stuff is going for more than the collectable stuff.

I've seen Russian GN'R flexi's over the last couple of years.  But never in the 90's.

My Top Hat Vol. II had the t-shirt in it.  Those top hat box sets have long been a mystery to me.  I have been trying to work out what belongs in each box, yet every single time I see one (unfortunately that's not very often) the bloody contents vary slightly.

thats probably why i thought there was something missing from mine.... every time i saw one on a web site the contents varied slightly.
