So his style of fighting is points based. He's been a great boxer and had a good career and been one of the best in his weight over the course of it. Mayweather and Pacquiao are two of the best of all time, Hatton was one of the best in his weight at the time, there's no shame in losing to them it just confirms Hattons level. Might have been different if he'd had a better coach from an earlier age though.
