I don't have the game myself, but since the songs/album is coming out for Rock Band I'm assuming you actually need the Rock Band 2 game.

So you basically buy the songs/album for the game and will be able to play them.

Guns N' Roses Brings 'Democracy' to 'Rock Band'

April 10, 2009

David J. Prince, N.Y.

Axl Rose may have spent 15 years fine tuning the 14 tracks on "Chinese Democracy," but it only took five months for the entire album to make its way into the "Rock Band" video game franchise.

"Chinese Democracy" will be released in its entirety into the Rock Band Music Store on April 14 and gamers will be able to download and play all 13 songs from the record, Harmonix and MTV Games announced Friday.  "Shackler's Revenge," the first track to emerge from the album, made its debut in the "Rock Band 2" release.

Gamers who use the XBox 360 and Playstation 3 gaming systems will be able to purchase the entire album and individual tracks, while Nintendo Wii players can only buy the tracks individually.

In an exclusive interview, Axl Rose told Billboard that the game's producers felt the album's multiple layers and tracks needed extra programming to sound and play correctly.  "They felt the record - based on the nature and complexity of the depth of instrumentation - deserved a bit more attention and some more involved elements than they've generally dealt with," he said.

Chinese Democracy was released in November 2008 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Yes, but you won't get Shacklers as it's a RB2 exclusive.

Title: Re: Chinese Democracy coming to Rock Band 2

making the entire LP available to players might expose Axl?s long-in-the-works Chinese Democracy to a larger audience, ingraining itself into the skulls of users who might not have cared for ?Street of Dreams? at first listen. Plus, people seem to use the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series as a way to discover new music.

?Rock Band is the new MTV.?

YEEEESSS!!!!! Best fucking news! Oh man, I am so happy right now. This literally made my day. This is nothing but win for GN'R and the best news to come from GN'R since the album released. Think about this. For those of us with the surround settups for our 360 or PS3, we will be hearing Chinese Democracy in full 5.1 sound. I really hope Axl considers releasing the album on an Audio DVD, or something along these lines, so we can all enjoy the music in full digital 5.1 sound.

But until it does, this is the best Chinese Democracy will ever sound. It will fully eclipse the cd release as anyone who has been playing Guitar Hero Metallica can attest (amazing). Goddamn this is so great. I actually doubted this was going to happen. This shows respect. Plain and simple ladies and gentleman. Fucking real respect for Chinese Democracy.

... some of us need to exchange our Xbox Live and psn usernames so we can hook up online and do this shit. I already made an Axl Rose rocker (And a Barack Obama) character in Rock Band 2.

xbox live - Buddha Prime
psn- Spacezilla (although I will be only playing this game on the 360, I love the ps3 way more. (Actually I really dig the fuck out of playing with my wii as often as possible too :) )

Watching 'Heavy: The Story of Metal' on VH1 Classics and in the corner they are advertising CD for RockBand 2...and if I'm not mistaken, it looks like they have some new graphic for the album cover (hard to see as it's so small on the screen, but it looks like a bright red abstract on black with the CD title in gold running along the side as it does on the album cover we all know).

Nice, I taped Metal Mania last night in the hopes they may air the commercial.  Actually I didn't know it was an actual commercial, I thought a logo just appeared in the corner during a video or something.  I'm gonna have to check the tape to see if it aired.

To clarify...I originally saw an ad in the bottom right hand corner (ala: a watermark advert) for CD RockBand during 'Heavy: The Story of Metal' on VH1 Classics (channel 168 in N.E. USA) YESTERDAY (Saturday, 4/11)...

...BUT...today (Sunday, 4/12)...I saw a full commercial on VH1 (channel 52) for CD RockBank that showed a better version of the 'new' album cover...looks like a red hand gripping the infamous dripping 'red star' CD logo that was seen with the mushroom cloud in the CD booklet...against a solid black background with 'Guns N' Roses: Chinese Democracy' written along the right side ala the actual album cover.

And AGAIN...the commercial claimed it was for RockBand OR RockBand 2...so it appears you could download it for either version of the game.

I watched Metal Mania taped from last night/early this morning on VH1 Classic, and they had a ad for it during a GNR video in the bottom right hand corner.  I think someone described it before.  They do it for bands who have stuff to promote (CD's, tour, etc.).  Haven't seen the commercial though.

Regular old VH1 does not play any music.  Maybe at 4 in the morning when everyone is asleep.

VH1 Classic still plays the good stuff.

Unfortunately, I was unable to view any television this weekend, but I will keep my eyes peeled for that advertisement.

That's a crazy looking cover.

VH1 is kind of shitty with all the lame reality tv programming.

So, is there any fans in here want to hook up online Tuesday night to play the fuck out of Chinese Democracy in its entirety? I guess at this point I really need someone who thinks they can handle the singing to join the online band. Again I am talking about the 360 version. If not then at least leave your xbox live username on here so we can rock at some other time.

Mine is: Buddha Prime

If you see me on there send me a message. I think it would be fun hooking up with members from HTGTH and play Chinese D in a band.

I've had points sitting in my account JUST for this purpose, so I'm glad to see the "delay" was only a week.  Maybe so they could ramp up promotion?  I don't know, but it certainly seems to be getting quite a bit of it....

Can't WAIT to play IRS and a couple of the other tunes tomorrow night!

I wonder if that's the cover of the new edition or just an alternative one used for the game.

Looks nice!

Riad is the hardest one, from what I can tell...

Odd enough, I didn't see how hard is the drums rated.

Is that the user created note charts feature in Guitar Hero World tour (you can create your own song and note charts).

Anyway, I don't think drums will be very hard at all for Chinese D. Guitars and vocals, that shit will eat players up alive.

... I foresee some great times ahead (I am really giddy as fuck thinking about Chinese D in RB2).

What songs are you gonna try first and why?

Riad's a song that I can't wait to play on any/all instruments!
After Riad it's a toss up between Better, Prostitute, & TWAT
... but either way I'm definitely buying & playing all the songs  4 obvious reasons

I got it all worked out for Tuesday night. We will be playing through the album sequentially from Chinese Democracy all the way through Prostitue. Will be buying the full album OF COURSE. I think this will be the 6 or 7th time I have bought Chinese Democracy thank you very much.

Oh I know there are a couple hard drum songs on CD, just meant overall. Can't wait!

It's gonna be. I'm so fuckin pumped up for this. I'm we'll replay most of the album. I can't see too many songs being skipped. I'm not the biggest fan of SR or CitR and one of my friends doesn't like Sorry all that much. Other then that, I bet the songs will get multiple run thrus for most of the evening.

(OH! And another thing! I've set it up to get out of work THREE HOURS EARLY tomorrow just to start playing this!)

Right there with you buddy. I'll be a little bummed Tuesday. But I have a question, I've never tried to download a song (or anything else for that matter) right at release. Is it going to be available tonight at 12:00am(Tuesday morning) for XBox users and Wednesday/Thursday at 12:00am on PS3 or does it appear some point during the day or something?

I am REALLY curious to see what a song like "This I Love" will play like. There is obviously a great solo in the song, but is it mostly going to consist of a lot of standing around for non-vocal RB players?

Hey All,

It was my birthday yesterday so this came at a convenient time for me and especially my girlfriend considering I didn't really want anything and she had little idea as to what to get me.  So I'm planning on buying the whole album and having fun with it Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.  Probably get Pearl Jam's Ten as well.  Pretty good couple of weeks if you like to pretend how to play instruments.

Very curious as to how they charted This I Love; kind of a boring song if you're not the singer (even the guitar solo I can't imagine being that hard).

Cheers,

Andrew

Uhh, it doesn't work that way.  The 20 songs you get for free with the game, are all pre-selected songs, almost all of them are bands unheard by many people.  In other words, the songs are crap, you can't pick them yourself.

Alright, I have fixed (using 2 butterknives and ducktape) my kick pedal which snapped on me onetime. I tested it and it works great! I am ready to go stupid crazy with CD. I don't think it will actually be available until 2 in the morning west time u.s.a. so that sucks. If it was midnight I would stay up. Instead I think I will just go to work a little late (and still buzzed I am sure).

Getting Rock Band 2 for the PS3 the coming weekend. Can't wait to play CD!!   : ok:

I surf the biggest Norwegian and international gaming-sites, but still haven't seen any promotion for this   :-\

It's mainly newsfeed like this:  http://www.gamespot.com/news/blogs/sidebar/909182374/26843218/rock-band-reloads-guns-n-roses.html

Since they're doing promotion for it on VH1, I would asume that they would have some promotion on the gamesites.

Maybe.

I'm not sure how the DRM works with Rock band 2 songs.  If it's just keyed to your profile, and not your machine, you'll be fine...provided you sign into YOUR profile, with YOUR HD plugged into HIS mahine.

The problem is that some stuff off of Xbox live (specifically the xbox live arcade titles) are keyed to both your profile and your machine.  As long as your online...doesn't matter, it picks up the DRM off your profile.  But when you're OFFLINE, the "backup" check is to your local machine...which means if you use your HD at a buddy's house, and he's not online...you can't get to any of your Live arcade games.  People have had a BITCH of a time when having their RROD boxes replaced...MS sometimes forgets to migrate the DRM content of your profile to the new machine.

Basically, it's a crapshoot.

Maybe lug your console over too, just to be sure?  Hook up to his AV and net hookups, download, and be sure it all works when you get home?

Nope. Rock Band rarely re-charts keyboards for guitar. Guitar player on TIL plays nothing until the power chords on the second chorus.

The band animations during the keyboard-only portions are kind of funny - singer & guitarists kind of standing in a circle talking to each other.

Toughest on drums: If the world and Riad and the bedouins. I've played through all other songs on Hard, but these two only on Easy so far.
Singing: Played through all of them on Hard.

Its crazy after all these years playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and finally, finally have all these new GN'R songs to Rock out with. I love it. There I said it. I love it. It will be interesting to see if the RB release will have any effect on sales....   :)

Look what happened to Dragonforce (a rather unknown band) once their song became a hit amongst gamers on Guitar Hero:

"The Guitar Hero effect is real. DragonForce saw digital sales of Through the Fire rise from fewer than 2,000 weekly to a high of 37,825 the week ending Dec. 30, a week when many who got the game as a holiday gift were playing it. (Only one GH III song sold more, Guns N' Roses' Welcome to the Jungle at 38,330.)"

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/gaming/2008-02-14-guitar-hero-effect_N.htm

Since many of the songs on CD has "hit-potential" and seems rather difficult to master on the hardest settings, I guess all things are possible!

Fingers crossed!   : ok:

Found a review from some video game site (for those of you wondering which song to pick up).

http://www.examiner.com/x-6947-Portland-Video-Game-Examiner~y2009m4d14-Rock-Band-DLC-review-for-April-14th (http://www.examiner.com/x-6947-Portland-Video-Game-Examiner~y2009m4d14-Rock-Band-DLC-review-for-April-14th)

Chinese Democracy

    * The guitar maintains the industrial sound that Shackler?s Revenge has. It?s a pretty tough song overall with a ton of slides and trills of varying speed. The solo that kicks in to end the song is quite rugged too.
    * Fun on drums but nothing too out of the ordinary. Some offbeat kicks and a few rolls here and there. The end tosses out some more intense kick pedal.
    * Bass is definitely not the focus of the song. While the song does move up and down the board a bit, it?s not going to be the reason you get this song..
    * Vocally it?s not the hardest thing you?ve ever heard, but Axl does have a unique voice that can be hard to emulate, especially if you have issues hitting higher notes.

Better

    * This song?s guitar sounds really great. It?s got some fun sections and solos. There?s also one finger melting section about two thirds of the way through that made my brain freeze up with confusion.
    * Call me crazy, but I could have sworn I was listening to a Linkin Park track when the drum entered. The fun intro gives way to a somewhat repetitive song with a few fun kick/roll sections.
    * Bass is again not too exciting. It speeds up around solo time but doesn?t really bring much to the table.
    * Typical Axl craziness. There?s lots of weird notes and pitch shifting in this one. Not very easy at all.

Street of Dreams

    * Much lower key than the first two songs on guitar. It?s appropriate and fits the song though. For solo lovers, it still brings a fun one without being overly difficult.
    * Apart from one nasty roll in the middle of the song, it?s a pretty slow and straightforward journey. Takes a while for the drum to kick in and has another gap in the middle of the song.
    * Bass has a few nice hammer-ons. This is the most interesting song on bass so far.
    * This ballad is going to test you in all directions. Axl goes high, low and then takes a rocket ship to outer space. It reminds me a lot of their older stuff, which is really good.

If The World

    * A really laid back song on guitar. It?s got a real nice sound to it and feels really smooth. It?s a great mix of speed and sound.
    * This song is just tricky on drums all over the place. Because of the sound of the song, it doesn?t seem too intense but the combinations of rolls and kicks will have you moving around a lot.
    * The bass is appropriately funky for the song but there are a lot of gaps where you won?t be playing much.
    * Much easier than Street of Dreams on vocals. Axl goes high but he stays there for the most part.

There Was a Time

    * Holy cow at that ending. Here?s another smooth song that doesn?t crank it up until the very end. There were 2 good solos. The first was a bit passive but that second one comes screaming at you about halfway through.. All of the songs on this CD are really long too as a bonus.
    * This song is really about the guitar, so the drums were fair. Somewhat repetitive but just enough in the roll department to keep it interesting.
    * Some quick strumming sections for bass keep things interesting here.
    * Another rough one in the vocal department. Axl can still sing like no other.

Catcher in the Rye

    * Another 6 minute song here. There are some awkward chord changes in this one but it?s pretty fun on the whole with a couple cool solos.
    * Drumming-wise this song is par for the course, or should I say CD. There?s just enough switching around the kit to make it interesting but nothing that will get you flying out of your seat.
    * This song is a bit weaker on bass than the others. Any of these song with an extended solo has the bass taking a major back seat.
    * A bit tamer on vocals than the others.

Scraped

    * A shorter burst of energy over the last few slower songs. Two quick solos that will challenge as well as a heavy riff.
    * This song has a pretty unique Red-Yellow-Red-Blue roll that can be found throughout most of it. Definitely the most interesting drum song so far.
    * Here?s a more intense bass line that keeps switching things up.
    * This song is tiered toward the lower end (2 out of 6) for vocals because it?s a bit more constant on pitch. Like any song, it?s going to be more difficult if you?re not familiar with it, which I figure most are not as familiar with the new Guns N? Roses stuff as their older CDs.

Riad N? the Bedouins

    * What an incredibly weird song on guitar. Some of the sounds coming out of the guitar sound metallic. The guitar is absolutely blistering during the solos and in some isolated areas outside of the solos.
    * As the CD moves on, the drumming is getting more and more intense. The intro is nasty and I?m sure will catch many off guard. There?s a lot of off beat kicks in this song too, which seems to be a staple for the CD.
    * Bass has a lot of quick hammer-ons and slides. Even during the guitar solos, the bass part is difficult and not repetitive. A worthy challenge for bassists.
    * Vocally this song pushes Street of Dreams. A lot of pitch changes and a very wide range.

Sorry

    * The guitar is really tame for most of the song but has a few random hammer-on sections. The solo is less intense than most of the other songs, but still difficult.
    * The speed of the song makes it extremely easy on drums til the ending fill. Even then, it?s a long song for such a short payoff.
    * Let?s just put it this way for Bass; you won?t have reached the max multiplier for note streak until over 2 minutes into the song. Very uninteresting for the bassists. Axl?s sorry too apparently.
    * Doesn?t have the same punch as the other songs as far as vocals go. It?s pretty straightforward.

I.R.S.

    * Another crazy song with some unintelligible solos. Usually I have an idea of what I need to do on songs, but some of the notes are just getting by me right now.
    * It?s a long song, and that usually means a problem for drummers, but the pace of the song is good. It?s not too fast to cause a heart attack but not so slow you fall asleep. I.R.S. mixes it up just right for difficulty and fun.
    * The bass on this song sounds great but isn?t too riveting to play. There are a few fun sections but it?s a lot of waiting around while the other instruments have fun.
    * Vocally it?s in the middle as far as the CD goes. The pitch changes aren?t as drastic as some, but certainly harder than Sorry.

Madagascar

    * Definitely the easiest song on guitar thus far. No solos in it, which is a first but the middle section could have been charted as one. As far as ballads go, this one isn?t as good as Street of Dreams.
    * Drums are fairly basic. It looks a lot like the other drum patterns on the CD which doesn?t surprise me. Occasional fun rolls but still repetitive on the whole.
    * Bass is another complete miss. Lots of sustained notes and the odd hammer-on make up a majority of the song.
    * Lyrically the song is meant to be moving but it?s not as breathtaking to sing as most of the other songs. It?s in the first tier as are the rest of the songs on the CD. It seems we might have reached the peak as far as singing goes.

This I Love

    * A two minute intro precludes you from playing. Most of the song for a guitarist will be the solo, and a great sounding solo at that.
    * It?s over 3 minutes before the drummer gets to do anything with their hands. Even once you get going, it?s not much at all.
    * Advantage bass! You only have to wait about 45 seconds to play. Granted, it?s a bunch of sustains.
    * Likely, if you?re buying this song and you aren?t buying the whole CD, you?ll be buying it to sing. That?s really the main redeeming factor of this song. It?s another ballad with decent range.

Prostitute

    * The CD wraps up on a slightly more upbeat note. The guitar is more fun than the previous two ballads but isn?t anything special outside of the solo. At the end, it appears you?re actually playing piano.
    * The drums are quite tricky throughout with constant rolls being mixed in with the offbeat kicks.
    * Unfortunately for bassists, you are not redeemed here at the end either. Another series of sustained notes for you.
    * A good song to end the CD with as far as vocals go. It?s got some good range and pitch changes.

Final Say:

I was quite pleased with the entire CD musically.  I have to say, despite my trepidation, that this CD is worth a buy on the whole.  Most of the songs are good all around even if they don't have the classic Guns N' Roses feel.  The CD was geared toward two instruments; Guitar and Vocals.  If you play either of those as your primary instrument, you really owe it to yourself to pick up this whole CD.  If you're looking to play Bass solo, you might be a bit choosier.  Street of Dreams, There Was a Time, Scraped, and Riad N' the Bedouins are going to be your best looks.  Drumming, the CD is pretty straightforward but there are also a few great tracks for you too.  Chinese Democracy, Street of Dreams, Riad N' the Bedouins, Sorry and Prostitute are going to be your songs of choice.

Best overall songs:  Street of Dreams, Riad N' the Bedouins and Scraped.

I, too, played through the entire album last night on guitar.  Bringing the guitar parts forward really makes you appreciate them THAT much more.  It was a LOT of fun.  Can't wait to do drums and bass.  That'll be next, but probably not til next week.

My wife and I teamed up last night (she sang, I played guitar) to do about 5 or 6 songs.  Managed to break into the top 20 on the CD challenge, which is neat considering we weren't a "full band".  She's LOVING channeling her "inner Axl".

I think this, along with the release of Ten a couple weeks ago, had seriously reinvigorated RB and RB2.  I'm spending more time with it than I have in months.

I've been playing with my son since yesterday, and we're having a blast.  He's playing guitar on hard and hitting right about 90%, and I'm doing vocals on easy.  Definitely gives you an appreciation for some of the notes Axl hits.  I'll work my ways up to medium soon :)

I will be pissed if it's not up by the time I get off work. I made special plans enviting friends over to play, and it would suck if it wasn't available.

The only problem with you doing this, is you will not get to play Shackler's revenge because that song is exclusive to the disk of Rock Band 2 and not available for a separate download. The song is a blast to play as well... maybe you should have asked or done some research not to sound like an arrogant dick. I just couldn't personally deal with having even one less song to play off CD. My apologizes to be the deliverer of bad news.

I did the research and I got the best deal.  I saved over $70 this way.  I already knew that Shacklers was only on the RB 2 disc.  I just got a bonus by getting all the songs on RB 1 as well and I can have my friends over to have a band jam.  So no bad news here.

That's the plan.  RB 1 disc alone was 50 I think and I found the whole set for 60 plus 60 more for RB 2 brings my total to 120.

green on... I like the way you think circus boy.

My recommendation to the dude with RB1 is sell it soon after playing it. Then pay the 5 dollars to have all the songs on the disc be downloaded onto the hardrive. Then use the money made off 1 and buy RB2 even if it is a used copy, so the amount lost is negligible. All the RB1 songs will then be available on 2. I have what seems like 200 songs (I have downloaded lots of songs before the king was just released).

I already have the export key.  Just waiting til next week to get RB2.  I wouldn't get shit out of the resell for RB1 so I'll just keep it.  Be lucky to get $5 at gamestop or shit like that.  Like I said I'm, already ahead of whoever paid for the RB2 bundle and/or paid for the original RB1 bundle since I saved $120-130 on what I would have paid for the RB2 bundle or even $70 on the marked down RB1 bundle.  I'm happy!!

Question for those who have Rock Band 2 and the entire album...

Do you guys can  turn down the volume of the instruments? For example, if you want only the track "drums", make Vocals: 0, Guitars: 0, Bass: 0 .

That would be cool. If someone have some charity, maybe we can have all the tracks that way.

That would be cool, I don't know what's the deal with the volume on Rock Band 2, in Guitar Hero you can only configure the guitar volume, the band volume and the crowd volume. If Rock Band have the same system, maybe the guy who only have guitar can contribute with the track "guitar" but the guy with bass can contribute with "bass" track and the same with "vocals" and "drums". I mean, maybe you don't have the option to turn down all the tracks in the song but if x have guitar, y have drums, z have vocals and b have bass maybe x can turn down all the volume except "guitar", y could do the same with drums, z could do the same with vocals and b could do the same with bass. It's a good plan, it just requires some patience...

That's what they did for Shackler's many a moon ago.  That isolated Axl vocal is pure magic.

Title: Re: Chinese Democracy coming to Rock Band 2
Post by: Spirit on April 16, 2009, 10:42:08 PM
In Rock Band you can sort of isolate each instrument, including vocals. By turning down the volume on "background music" you'll bring the volume of all instruments down to a minimum (not complete silence) except the one you're playing.

It's almost as good as the Shackler tracks we've heard already.

For guitar I recommend TWAT, Catcher and Prostitute especially, there's some really cool licks in there.

For vocals, be sure to use the fail safe or practice mode, so it doesn't flunk out.

Is not a big deal.

The thing is find someone who can record (or extract) the sound of the instruments so we can have the multitracks...

From the rankings, "This I Love" is the easiest and Riad is the hardest.

I had a riot playing drums on Riad and Scraped last night.

It's awesome getting to play the songs... though I've only played the guitar parts so far.  I have the drums and intend to try to that... I also want to attempt to sing... whenever I sing anything (not just GNR) I try to emulate Axl's voice, so I'm curious to see if Rock Band thinks I'm any good at it !

My advice is if you want to do well in Rock Band, do not try to emulate Axl for a couple of reasons.  First, attempting to emulate any singer in this game will automatically give you a lower score; it doesn't care if your screech matches Axl's, all that matters is that your pitch is the same.  Often when someone attempts to emulate another singer they stop singing how they naturally would and this can affect pitch.  If you've ever listened to Axl live you'll notice that even he can have problems singing in his style and from time to time results in pitch issues.  The second reason you're not going to score well is that for whatever reason, Rock Band has a hard time discerning vocals if you add a rasp like Axl.  Whenever I sing with a rasp in this game I'll notice the little arrow that identifies my pitch will flicker, as any raspy vocal has a harder time registering.  I don't know why this happens and is kind of annoying and disappointing.  I wonder if the mic that comes with Rock Band has anything to do with that.  If anyone has had this problem and found a way to resolve it I'd appreciate it.

Of course it's just a video game and having fun is more important.  But don't feel too bad if you're wailing away like Axl and you're not getting the scores you'd hope.

Cheers,

Andrew

I checked yesterday, and I believe it was up to #230 (of 530 something) of all-time most downloaded.

This list consists of both albums and songs, and since an whole album costs more, I think it's doing really well.

As far as I remember, the most popular songs are Chinese, Better, If The World and This I Love (my memory might not serve me right on those though).

thank you very much for the info, Spirit. i would really appreciate it if you could update us on this on a weekly basis.

they rank albums and songs together on the same list? really confusing, i gotta say.

if people give the album a chance they can only be impressed by how phenomenol the guitar work is and of course axl's singing is in a league of its own.

I love how more people are giving Riad it's credits. It's a kick ass song and it was really unfair how people judged it by a couple of shit ass bootlegs from 2002.

Hell, I remember people saying it sounded like techno (and it's one of the most straight foward rock songs in the album)!

Rock Band is MTV Games/Harmonix

Guitar Hero: WT is Activision/Neversoft

Guitar Hero 1 & 2 was made by Harmonix though.

When Guitar Hero 3 came out (first GH game by Activison), I understand it they hadn't got the proper permissions to use Welcome To The Jungle. At least not with Slash fronting the game as a guitarist under the GN'R name.

Update on the download chart.

208. Chinese Democracy (album)
308. Chinese Democracy
380. Better
428. There Was a Time
449. Street Of Dreams
468. Riad N' The Bedouins
469. This I Love
493. If The World
502. Scraped
503. Madagascar
514. Prostitute
515. I.R.S.
516. Sorry
517. Catcher In The Rye

There are a total of 542 songs/albums on the list.

Again, it's worth noting that this isn't from a list showing the most downloaded last week or month. It's showing rating based on all-time most downloaded. Therefore I expect furthermore climbing, considering the album has been available only three weeks.

I'm not sure what the sales were before Rock Band but I read they only sold 1,300 copies in the week ending 4/26.  So if those figures are accurate, I couldn't imagine that sales were bumped up.  And I'm pretty sure DLC album sales don't count toward the total.

Also, I can't believe Catcher is the least downloaded from the album. That would be the first one I'd go for.

nah its a piano/orchestra version with axl singing

I just never liked the TIL guitar solo..... I think it is one of those songs that doesn't need a solo.

The rest of the solos on CD are good, some better than others especially Bucket but TIL....... I always stop it when it gets to the solo. Now I can enjoy the entire thing.

I like the song better with the guitar and drums.  That worked well enough for me.  In that version you do get to hear the orchestration and music that you really can't hear in the original version, so in that way it's an interesting and enjoyable listen.  But given the choice, I'd take the original.

Well, not plastic instruments. You use the arrows and the triangle and circle to play it and L and R to change the instruments (yes, even the vocals). Its still cool to play it on PSP and, different from the Guitar Hero on DS, Rock Band Unplugged has a built-in store to buy downloadable tracks.

my brother has a enough microsoft points left to buy 3 songs from this

which 3 are the best, most fun to play?

I was thinking CD,Shackler's and TWAT

what do u think those who have played it?

Shacklers is already there (if he has Rock Band 2.. if not, he can't buy it).

IMHO, it's Riad (the hardest song), TWAT and IRS.

He has never heard the album though, So I was wanting to pick 3 that I know he'd love so maybe he'll buy the entire album

so I was thinking TWAT, CD...... don't really want IRS or Riad........

How is "Sorry" on the game?

depends on the users taste and part but
generally speaking, better would be the first pick in such a case.

sorry for the double post, but I have never played any of these games, and I was told that ''Rock Band Unplugged'' has all tracks in their original ''electric'' form.

I imagined this news could have meant that we will see an acoustic version of Riad, but after what i was told, i think this is not the case.

So by "unplugged" do they mean that the game is for your portable PSP rather than the normal PlayStation?  Kind of misleading.

Yes, I realize that.  What I'm trying to say is that using the term "unplugged" can be misleading when you are talking about music.  Initial thought is acoustic, so it is possible that people would buy this thinking they are getting different versions.

The unplugged part of the Rock Band name is just a little play on the kind of system.  You know handheld, not plugged into power source.  PS3/X-Box/Wii, plugged into power source.

Oh, fucking great. My favorite song in the only videogame I have and I can't buy the song because the Rock Band Store don't work here in Brazil. Fucking Sony/Harmonix.....

Anyways, the song seems pretty hard to play in the regular mode (you have to play ALL the instruments, changing it all the time). At least in the expert mode.

There's tons of cool new games to PSP like Gran Turismo, Soul Calibur and Tekken...

Anyways, if they are releasing just Riad on RBU, I don't think they would release the whole album. And it's very interesting to release only this song - maybe because of the nice response it had on Rock Band 2...

a small GNR mention in a guitar hero vs rockband article.

"On the ?Rock Band? front, MTV-owned Harmonix and its partner Electronic Arts haven?t announced ?Rock Band 3″ yet. Instead, they?ve been focusing on ?The Beatles: Rock Band,? which releases Wednesday. That game, which is made up entirely of Beatles songs and tells the story of their career, is more of a standalone title. It brings a number of new features to the genre, such as the addition of three-part vocal harmonies, but you won?t be able to export its songs for play in ?Rock Band 2.? It also won?t feature support for other ?Rock Band? tracks you might have downloaded. This no doubt has something to do with the legal agreement MTV signed to get Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the widows of George Harrison and John Lennon to agree to let their likenesses be used in the game. (You could see why Paul McCartney might not want to see the Fab Four playing Guns N? Roses? ?Shackler?s Revenge,? for example.)"

Probably something bigger than that.  Most songs on Rock Band are anywhere from 25 - 50 mb (some higher).  So if there's 13 songs to download (not including Shackler's), you'll probably be a little short if downloading the whole album.  And don't forget some of your memory card will be eaten up with saved data from the game.  I'd err on getting at least a 1 gb memory card to ensure you get the full album.

Good luck, and having had it for six months, definitely worth the download.  It's a lot of fun, and it's cool to hear the different instruments pronounced when playing.

Cheers,

Andrew

Dear G n' R community,
Please help, after many trials and tribulations I now own RB2 on the WII.
I don't really get chance to play the game but bought it specifically for Democracy.
I have 2000 points, and have purchased TWAT and Prostitute.
Where can I get to play these songs, they don't appear in
my quickplay song list.
My local  tour song list

Do i need to create an online band and online tour to play the album?

Also, i bought a 2gb memory card but noticed when downloading the 2 songs I would not
have enough blocks free - are blocks the memory on the memory card? There is nothing else
on the memory card.

Please help.

Well then he would have even more trouble with the 360 since you would have to get an internet connection and then pay for the online service for the xbox.

So Rock Band has a new feature where artists can upload their own tracks called Rock Band Network.  Would be cool to get this passed along to the GNR crew to see if we can get some old/classic GNR on Rock Band.  Wouldn't mind seeing the re-recorded Appetite.  Here's a link with more info:

I would LOVE it if all of CD came out for Guitar Hero, I love the drumming on GH much better than RB2 and I'm holding out hope that it happens some time.

That's for unsigned bands, there's a lot of copyright issues to deal with.

BTW, I finally bought the album for RB2 this weekend. Only had time to play Riad and Better (my favorites), but I plan to have it all done by the weekend. :)

It's not only for unsigned bands.  There are already a few "big" name bands that have songs uploaded to the network such as 3 inches of Blood, Steve Vai, Billy Idol, Presidents of the USA, Snoop Dogg, In this Moment, Jonathan coultan, David Bowie, Evanescence, All That Remains, Ministry, Evile, and Flight of the Conchords.

So again I hope this info gets passed along to those that could make this happen.

But harmonix, the creators of rock band, announced today that the license for chinese democracy has just about ended, and the ability to purchase it for use in rock band 2, 3, or 4 will end by the end of january, 2016.

If you already own it, no worries: you will continue to be able to download it, and play it, in the various versions of the game.
