Title: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: LIGuns on March 15, 2009, 09:05:05 PM What 5 songs do you consider GN'R must continue to play live (on the up-coming tour)? And why?
Songs that they have been playing on current tours that should remain in the set... I say: 1-WTTJ: Great live song. Gets the crowd, any crowd, going. 2-SCOM: One of the greatest cross over hits EVER!!!! A song this great has to be performed.. 3-Paradise City: Such a great closer.. 4-CD: Excellant live, and it is the title track. 5-Better: Great live. The beat always gives Axl something to do during the instrumental parts..Will be better now that majority of the crowd will be familular w/ it... What 5 songs should they include and why? 1-Sorry: I think it has the potential to be a crowd sing along..It cab give Axl the well deserved rest he needs w/ out being a ballad. 2-ITW: I think it will come across great live. It would be great as a set closer, preluding to the encore. 3-Don't Cry: It has been missed in previous tours. Time for them to dust it off..As longs as it's played like it was recorded and not rocked up as it has been in the past. 4-TIL: Seems to be one of the more popular tracks from CD. 5- Estranged: Perhaps a replacement for NR? Or at least a rotating alternative. Like DC, seems many miss this song. 5 regulary played songs GN'R can drop from the set list: 1-Out To Get Me: We have enough AFD representation, make some room for CD material. 2- KOHD: Tough choice between LALD. But I feel one of the overs had to go. KOHD is agreat sing along, especially the slower version, but LALD is so great visually. Perhaps they can alternate the 2. 3- Madagascar: Love this song, but it loses me live do to it's length (audio samples). 4- IRS: One of my least fav. CD tracks. 5- My Michelle: W/o out Baz will it be the same live? Title: Re: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: GNR4L on March 15, 2009, 09:10:47 PM Half to wait and see I guess.

Title: Re: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: rabia on March 16, 2009, 12:06:50 AM how can you guys say that KOHD should be dropped from the setlist. KOHD from Rock Am Ring is in my view the best live performance ever by the guys. this is one song theyve really and truly made their own. its such a great sing along too.
i would be bummed if they dropped this from the setlist. Title: Re: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: GNRreunioneventually on March 16, 2009, 12:19:07 AM personally i don't care but i think they should do some illusion songs more like you could be mine and especially COMA :headbanger:

I agree 100%i would be bummed if they dropped this from the setlist. Me too!! It's such an awesome live performance. I also would hate to see Patience dropped. That whistling at the beginning sets everyone off and gets 'em ready to sing along. (Not to mention it's my favorite of all time for sentimental reasons.) Title: Re: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: alejoyp on March 16, 2009, 11:34:32 PM Keep playin' (this songs can't be NEVER out of the usual set for any GN'R show IMO)
1- Welcome To The Jungle 2- Sweet Child O'Mine 3- Paradise City 4- November Rain 5- Patience Quit from the setlist (With the esception of KOHD n' LALD, which are covers, this terrible for me :no:) 1- KOHD 2- Live And Let Die 3- Madagascar 4- Out Ta Get Me 5- Think About You Add to the setlist 1- There Was A Time 2- Prostitute 3- Sorry 4- Don't Cry 5- Civil War Title: Re: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: Axl4Prez2004 on March 17, 2009, 12:08:47 AM Seeing as how GNR plays a good 20+ songs per night, hell, they could play all the above songs on different nights...but I get what you are after, the staples.
Seriously, I've seen 'em live 4 times. The only tune I wasn't into was Think About You, Boston, '02. It's just not a song I dig. That said, Out ta Get Me is a great live tune, one that I wasn't always into...but there's a lot of energy with that song live. I just want to be surprised. Come tour time, I'm just not going to read the setlist threads. Isn't that part of the fun? Title: Re: Staple Live Songs Parts I, II N' III Post by: AtariLegend on March 17, 2009, 12:35:45 AM Basing this on the '06 Set-list Picture, presuming were allowed to talk about it now;

Welcome to the Jungle Sweet Child Paradise City November Rain Patience Don't Cry (this should always have been played) Better TWAT Sorry Played regularly You Could Be Mine Mr. Brownstone It's So Easy Yesterdays (why this song is skipped is beyond me, one of their most underrated songs and lyrically I can't think of a better fit) Nightrain Down on the Farm (to replace Live and Let Die) This I Love Catcher In the Rye Chinese Democracy Madagascar Options Knocking on Heaven's Door (but only if they play the UYI version, otherwise discard it; not a big fan of 2002's version; I appreciate the change up but if I wanted to hear Bob Dylan's version I'd go see a Bob Dylan show). Estranged I Use to Love Her Perfect Crime Dead Horse Prostitute Shackler's Revenge If The World Discard Street of Dreams (always took the crowd right out of it). Rhyad (was there in 2002 when they played this in Detroit. This was the song that sent most people packing). I Think About You Live and Let Die 'Beautiful' Guitar Solo; like the song, but not a place for a Christina Aguilera cover Out Ta Get Me, My Michelle Any guitar solo by Robin Fink; wasn't a fan. Rocket Queen (though this one was tough, but compared to all the must plays and options, this didn't make the list). NEVER PLAY SILKWORMS AGAIN! HORRIBLE SONG.
