What you see is what you get with Axl. The guy is a legend and a Black Label brother. He's the shit. I played with Guns N' Roses [in the mid-90s]. I was in Studio B and they were in Studio A. So I played Axl some of my shit, like 13 Years Of Grief. And he was like "Zakk, what fuckin' market are you trying to reach with that?" I told him "I dunno, the fuckin' farmer's market?"

  So we ended up hanging and jamming together - me, Axl, Slash, Duff [McKagan], Matt [Sorum] and Dizzy [Reed]. And I was like 2 Axl, when are you gonna start singing on this shit? Let's quit fuckin' around here!" And that's when Black Label Society was born because I had all these riffs hanging around, and I thought, "Fuck it, I'll do it myself." But it's not because Axl is hard to work for. It's because he cares. He had so much passion. And I'd rather have that than some douchebag who doesn't give a fuck.

  What do I think of Chinese Democracy? The wife bought me a copy and it got smashed in my luggage, so I had to fuckin' buy another one. No, Axl didn't send me a copy. But he's a beautiful guy.

i don't think Zakk says nice things about many current recording artists, so this is a hell of a compliment.


zakk rocks, but his best years were with pride and glory and book of shadows.

He wasn't asked seemingly, they just mentioned the names of several people... then Zakk explained what he thought about them.

Man... Zakk has a sailor's mouth!!! lol...  Not a big fan of his music... if he would've joined GNR... GNR would be so different nowadays. It would be much more metal and with those damn harmonics every 3 secs.

That would indicate sarcasm.  I was just saying that maybe he didn't comment because he didn't get a chance to listen to it yet.  And this is a really pointless argument that I admittedly started.

Yep. And I think it's cool that journalists pretty much only ask this to get him to say something bad about Axl and he never has.

Not a fan of Zakk Wylde--I don't know why Ozzy uses him on his records. It's cool that he digs Axl, though.

yeah, talent wise bucket was there but his stage persona ended up working against him for ozzy's taste; which I completely agree with him-though his playing is excellent

I think the feedback was him and slash didnt exactly complement each other which isn't entirely that hard to believe; given their both lead guitarists

Zakk brings up the unasked subject himself to tell that he didn't get his copy for free but bought it himself.
