I am pleased with that. For me There Was A Time is not only the best song off Chinese Democracy but the best from GNR ever.

great result, TWAT is a masterpiece , definately the best song from cd along with madagascar  and one of the best songs ever written by anyone.

TWAT has been my favorite since we first heard it and, even after listening to it non-stop since, it's still my favoraite on CD.

I like TWAT. It's one of my favs... but Better is the best song on the record.

I think the longer drawn out songs always win the survivor series here at HTGTH.

If I remember right we had a bunch of these countdowns back in the summer of 2004, and the winners were WTTJ, Coma, and Estranged.  I don't remember what won Spaghetti (Human Being???). 

I still think the best is Madagascar followed by If The World, followed by Sorry

If it wasnt for the second half of the song then I would argue this should have been the first song voted off

so many greater songs than this one.

Rocket Queen is my favorite tune off AFD!  Scraped and Sorry are my favorites but TWAT is in my top 5.  Prostitute and Rhiad still are my least favorites, and I say this b/c after 2 spins when I first got Democracy Scraped was in that list as well.  Shacklers, Street of Dreams, Madagascar, and Catcher really have grown on me as well since I've been able to hear them in a proper sterio system.  Of course CD, IRS, Better, and If the World were among my favorites before  the album was released so there's no surprise there.

I was thinking about the poll at the top of this section of everyone's favorite song while we had the eliminating threads. We could have just looked at the poll to see the champion so far.  :)

I am disappointed that Better did not win, but I'll accept it regardless. Better as most people's top three.

I would like to see the famous rock and roll musician Axl Rose lend his vocals in a live setting with his band Guns N' Roses and I would thoroughly enjoy listening to songs from the latest Guns N' Roses album, "Chinese Democracy."

IMO Human Being is the best cover GN'R ever did, but I've never seen anyone talk about it much on these boards in the years I've been here. What're the generally most liked TSI? songs around here? Human Being, Down on the Farm, and Black Leather are my personal faves.

TWAT and This I Love are the best instrumentals on the album.  TWAT has the best solo on the album which to me is the best solo on any GnR song

TWAT also has some of the best lyrics and vocals on the album so no surprise

My favorites from TSI are probably Human Being, Down On The Farm, Ain't It Fun, I Don't Care About You

TSI? gets slammed for no reason.  I think it is a fun record and I don't have any problem listening to it from front to back.

TSI is a victim of high standards. It shouldn't get slammed. It is a fun record, but the material just isn't as strong as original GNR stuff. I don't listen to it straight through as much as the other albums, but if i do happen to take the cd out, i don't skip. And my favorites are probably Human Being, Hair of the Dog, and Attitude.


And the original post i just quoted makes sense to me. I think hardcore fans are more apt to like the longer more epic and indulgent songs that really showcase the band. Everytime i listen to Prostitute i wish it was twice as long... even though sensibly i think so many songs on CD are amazing because of how much they pack into typical song times, and that they'd be criticized if they were longer. It's probably part of why i just keep listening over and over.
