Post by: y2marmar on January 23, 2009, 01:09:12 PM This mother in the west of Ireland was charged with neglecting her 6 children and sexual abusing her 13 year old. The children were hungry, freezing cold. The heat was only turned on once a month. She spent all her time in the pub while her children were reduced to rooting around the house eating whatever mouldy or rotten food they could find. The house was over run with mice and rats, the kids were filthy, covered in head lice. Yet she got away with it for years and years. Its just shocking. No-one did anything. EVERYONE knew that something wasn't right, but there was nothing done.

But child witnesses especially against their parent cave on the stand. There is a big risk in taking these kind of cases to trial as the child may retract their statement under the pressure of cross examination and then there's no conviction. It's better to let the person plead to a lesser sentence. You get the bigger sentences when there is evidence other than just the child's word like video tape and when you have multiple victims. A violated, dead body with DNA is always a winner.

In Ireland? I agree. Equality for the law :peace: I obviously think these things can first and foremost be prevented at birth. -not all of us should reproduce, only a few us infact. What he means is that these perverts should henceforth not stop at sexual abuse alone, but must violate and kill their victims and in the process also ensure that they leave copious amounts of their DNA with the body so that we can have a higher conviction rate.
