More from www.billymorrison.net on the Jan 19 Sundance CF gig:

"A quick visit to the Blog for me before running out to get some food. We did confirm a Camp Freddy show at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday 19th January. We have played up there a few times and it's always a blast. Lack of oxygen + altitude + rock n roll = good times!! Unfortunately, Dave has previous commitments so he will not be joining us. And I miss him already. I will also take advantage of the winter wonderland and the many events happening that week or so, and I will be DJing on the Sunday night at a "Rock Band" event. I will give you more details when I get them in case you happen to be strolling down Main Street in Park City, UT at just the right moment!!"

OZZY OSBOURNE To Perform With CAMP FREDDY At SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL? - Jan. 15, 2009

According to David Burger of The Salt Lake Tribune, there is an "80 percent chance" that Ozzy Osbourne will join CAMP FREDDY for the band's January 19 performance at the Sundance Film Festival at Harry O's in Park City, Utah. Other scheduled guests include Mark McGrath (SUGAR RAY) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP).

CAMP FREDDY is the Los Angeles-based "jam" band featuring Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist), Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES), Donovan Leitch (son of legendary folk singer Donovan), and Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION, ALANIS MORRISETTE). (Note: Navarro will not perform with CAMP FREDDY at the Sundance Film Festival due to "previous commitments.")

CAMP FREDDY completed a four-night residency at the Roxy in Hollywood with another series of shows during December. The band performed each Tuesday during the month and each week played a different setlist with different guests.

CAMP FREDDY recently parted ways with Los Angeles' acclaimed Indie 103.1 radio station, which has aired the band's weekly show every Saturday for nearly five years.

Since its formation six years ago when they rocked the opening of The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles at the invitation of Brent Bolthouse, CAMP FREDDY has performed on both coasts of America and on national television shows ("The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", "Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn", "Last Call with Carson Daly").

Fan-filmed video footage of Ozzy Osbourne performing with CAMP FREDDY on December 23, 2008 at the Roxy in West Hollywood, California can be viewed below (clip uploaded by "yohazy").

I would think the probability would be high. ;)

The Cult play Harry O's the following night so I'm sure Billy Duffy will play a good portion of the
set, especially with Navarro not being available.

I wonder if Ian Astbury will accept his standing invitation and get up for a number or 2 with CF?

Doubt it..

"The best night of music so far in Park City this long weekend was Monday night's Harry O's performance of Camp Freddy, a rock-star supergroup that played covers for 90 minutes.

I originally wasn't going to make the trip to Harry O's from Sugar House because I was battling a fierce cold which make my voice feel the way Tom Waits' voice sounds. But I couldn't pass it up.

The band's Monday incarnation was a who's who of rock: Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Matt Sorum (Guns n' Roses, Velvet Revolver), Billy Morrison (The Cult, Circus Diablo), Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction), Donovan Lietch Jr. (Nancy Boy), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol's band), Shaun White (pro snowboarder/skateboarder) and, not least, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. It was great to get up to the stage and fist pump (although mine was covered in snot).

Here's some of the highlights:

-- Gibbons and the band launching into a heavy version of Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady" that initially sounded like they were going to cover "Nookie"
-- Stevens playing the guitar behind his head during two Idol songs, "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding"
-- McGrath doing his best Johnny Rotten impression when singing the Sex Pistols' "EMI"
-- The band dedicating a cover of the Cars' "Just What I Needed" to Barack Obama
-- Taylor screaming a manic version of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," and then remarking, "I just had a f_____ aneurysm"
-- McGrath saying Robert Redford requested the band play Ted Nugent, so they played "Cat Scratch Fever"
-- The entire band closing with the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog""

Chefdance rocks and rolls

Chefdance, as I learned from its doyenne Bethenny Frankel, is Sundance's first dinner party, oft imitated but according to Frankel, never duplicated. In contrast to our visit the night before at the more elegant formal Bon Appetite Supper Club, Chefdance is a boisterous affair, the cave-like underground space downstairs from the Harry O's bar echoing with good cheer and table hopping aplenty.  Frankel emphasizes the eclecticism of the Chefdance group, saying this is not an A-list only affair and that they will let in anyone who wants to attend.  At Chefdance you will see, Frankelysays, a ski lift operator sitting next to a movie producer; a star next to a cab driver.

On the night we were there, I didn't count the ski lift operators in attendance but there was certainly an adequate celebrity quotient in the house.  Pierce Brosnan, Cuba Gooding Jr., Andie McDowell and the members of the band Camp Freddie were all in attendance; the latter invited in honor of the night's theme -' rock 'n' roll, inspired by the evening's guest chef, Kerry Simon a.k.a. The Rock 'n' Roll Chef. (Chefdance flies in a different celebrity for each night's dinner.)

The meal built inevitably, true to the theme of this year's festival, of a short ribs main course.  (My colleague Denise Martin also logged in from the Bon Appetite Supper club that she too enjoyed short ribs last night.)  It was the fourth straight night I had dined on short ribs, but Simon's, served on a deliciously sweet parsnip puree, were nothing to sneeze at and brought a fresh wind to my short ribs journey.

As the night went on, the high spirits of the room grew, building to a crescendo when a member of Camp Freddie noticing that the TV sets around the room were viewing cameras trained on the empty Harry O's stage, took the opportunity to get up and moon the camera.  Almost as significant, the dessert -- a chocolate and banana tart -- was accompanied by mini vanilla milkshakes that were as sublime as independent filmmaking itself.

SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR Sings BILLY IDOL's 'Rebel Yell' With CAMP FREDDY; Video Available - Jan. 22, 2009

Mark McGrath (SUGAR RAY), Billy Duffy (THE CULT), Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT), Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL), Shaun White (pro snowboarder/skateboarder) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP) joined CAMP FREDDY for the band's January 19 performance at the Sundance Film Festival at Harry O's in Park City, Utah.

Another CF review from Sundance:

http://media.www.slccglobelink.com/media/storage/paper442/news/2009/01/29/ArtsEntertainment/Welcome.To.Camp.Freddy-3604375.shtml

Welcome to Camp Freddy
Ben Hansen

Shaun White and Billy Duffy rocked the building hard during the Camp Freddy concert January 26.

All of the members of Camp Freddy played to an high-energy crowd during their concert at Sundance.

Cory Taylor of Slipknot was one special guest during the Camp Freddy concert.

Z Top legend Billy Gibbons kept the crowd pumped during the Camp Freddy Concert.

What if a concert experience could be something that bends the normal and does something entirely new? Something very different, beyond just a band's look, a guitar effect, or a flash pot explosion? They can, and that band is Camp Freddy.

Camp Freddy is a band of established rock musicians who come together to jam out cover songs from both their prior bands and other artists. The core of this group consists of drummer Matt Sorum (The Cult, Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), bass player Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction, Alanis Morisette), guitarist Billy Morrison (The Cult, Circus Diablo), guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers), and vocalist Donovan Leitch.

The differentiating factor with these guys is that they are all there to have a good time and put on a great show. At any time, band members may trade out or join up with "guest musicians", throwing a completely different element into the live set. Prior to Monday's show at the world-famous Harry O's, some of the past guest appearances have included Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Kid Rock, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), and Slash (Guns N' Roses), to name a few. The big question on everyone's mind before the show was, "Who is going to show tonight?"

As Camp Freddy took the stage and the lights hit, the answers became very evident. The lineup of the band itself was different, with guitarist Steve Stevens (Billy Idol, Vince Neil) playing in place of Dave Navarro. Stevens rocked the house all night long, while the audience enjoyed both the combination of his technical soloing and his cigarette-smoking, Nikki Sixx hairdo circa 'Shout at the Devil' appearance.

The band took off, most appropriately, with a cover of the song "Hello There Ladies and Gentlemen" by Cheap Trick. Lead vocalist Donavan Leitch reached out to the audience during this song, emphatically singing, "Do you want to do a number with me?"

The band's lineup stayed the same only through the second song, the classic "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen. Following Donavan's screams at the end of the song, he informed the crowd that they were going to bring a lot of rock stars on the stage tonight, and immediately introduced the first guest performer of the night, singer Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray. He joked with the audience about Robert Redford asking to sing some Ted Nugent, and the band immediately broke into Ted's 1970's staple "Cat Scratch Fever."

Following this song, McGrath introduced each member of the band, one by one. When he introduced drummer Matt Sorum, he humorously stated, "You all know this guy. He's the best drummer in the past 3 decades. We've all grown up with him…Velvet Revolver, The Cult, Guns N' Roses, the Jonas Brothers - Matt Sorum."

After jamming a cover of The Sex Pistols' "EFI", another surprise was unveiled - special guest and legendary guitarist from The Cult, Billy Duffy, walked out onto the stage. Duffy made multiple appearances throughout the night, including a smoking cover of Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak," and Steve Steven's own "White Wedding" from his days with Billy Idol.

The biggest surprise of the night came towards the end of the band's set. Everyone knew as advertised that Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top was going to be a special guest this evening, so when the band announced that the next guest was going to blow their minds, the audience thought that they knew what to expect. It came as a shock to everyone however when the band announced, "Give it up for Cory Taylor from Slipknot."

As the audience screamed with excitement, Cory smiled, grabbed the microphone, and stated "See what you can do with this one." Guitarist Steve Stevens immediately launched into the opening riff off one of his most beloved Billy Idol classics, "Rebel Yell." Cory's vocals sounded surprisingly better than Idol's on the song, and continued to wow through a cover of Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" , followed by the high point of the evening - Motorhead's "The Ace of Spades." Even he was impressed once the song was finished, proclaiming to the audience, "Good Lord! I think I just had a … aneurism!"

The band was not done there. Billy Gibbons made his appearance as anticipated, playing his ZZ Top smash "La Grange," with the audience singing along. Billy still had his famously long beard and was sporting his signature sunglasses, which he raised after the song while telling the audience, "It's crazy tonight, and it's gonna get crazier." He then led the band through a cover of Jimmy Hendrix's "Foxy Lady."

Billy Gibbons walked off the stage, and it appeared the set was coming to a close. Suddenly, all of the guests began re-emerging with one last special guest. Shaun White, the top snowboarder in the world, hit the stage with his guitar in hand, ready to rock. Shaun, Cory Taylor, Billy Duffy, and everyone else rocked the building hard for the final song, Iggy Pop's "I Wanna Be Your Dog."

My heart did not stop pounding for about 10 minutes after the show, nor did my head for quite some time after that. Simply put, this show blew my mind. I had no idea what to expect going into this, and came out initially not realizing what had just hit me. Camp Freddy delivers a monster show worthy of seeing more than once. I, for one, will definitely be checking them out again.
