I don't think Coverdale should be that high up, but he does have a great voice.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Wooody on January 02, 2009, 02:16:21 PM not a bad spot, but I would've chosen a different list.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Axl4Life on January 02, 2009, 02:17:19 PM Hetfield should be higher.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: D on January 02, 2009, 02:37:39 PM Axl should be top 5 over Daltrey and Coverdale and maybe even the Deep Purple guy
Glad to see Jon getting some respect! : ok: Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: jarmo on January 02, 2009, 02:39:15 PM Axl's not in bad company there in the Top 10....
All the people ahead of him are from a different generation. So Axl's obviously the best of his generation.... 8) /jarmo Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: D on January 02, 2009, 02:42:52 PM just wonder how in the hell Sebastian isn't on that list?
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: IKnowWhereIAM on January 02, 2009, 02:53:03 PM I agree with most, though definately not in that order...but I have one glaring exclusion: Neil Young. Neil Young can't f---ing sing. Sorry. Neil, you are nice guy and all, but keep playing with your toy trains. Everyone else on that list has some talent.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: italysfinest1985 on January 02, 2009, 03:01:49 PM Axl deserves it. He is among, if not, THE best.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on January 02, 2009, 03:05:08 PM Holy Whopper, a list that doesn't have Kurt Cobain on it!
Has the world been turned upside down? Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: DeN on January 02, 2009, 03:14:25 PM no Elvis ? no Roy Orbison ? no Mike Patton ? well... ::)
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Skunk on January 02, 2009, 03:26:31 PM Not a bad list. Tyler should be higher...

Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Skunk on January 02, 2009, 03:29:48 PM Poor Meat he should be top 20 at least  I don't know him that well, i always call him Mr. Loaf. Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: norway on January 02, 2009, 04:15:24 PM No Vince :(
Anyone heard Shout At The Devil? PS/ Axl should be no.1 Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: slash666 on January 02, 2009, 04:43:10 PM I personally would've put Phil Lynott, Steve Perry & Geddy Lee higher but can't complain.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: sworrm on January 02, 2009, 04:58:15 PM i cant take that list seriously when Eddie Vedder aint on there, fair enough if you dont like his music [though i think its great] but he can sing like an angel. Ever seen there MTV unplugged. Good for Axl though
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: wight gunner on January 02, 2009, 05:08:39 PM just wonder how in the hell Sebastian isn't on that list? IMO Seb ruins Gn'R songs when he sings with Axl, I know he's mates and all that but a great singer 'e ain't. Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: budmaster on January 02, 2009, 05:20:21 PM I agree with most, though definately not in that order...but I have one glaring exclusion: Neil Young. Neil Young can't f---ing sing. Sorry. Neil, you are nice guy and all, but keep playing with your toy trains. Everyone else on that list has some talent. Sorry but Neil Young is a god in many ways, great voice ( that you either LOVE or HATE ) but you gotta admit its unique. Not to mention he's a guitar god! Neil should be #1 : ok: Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: kingcanute on January 02, 2009, 05:24:12 PM Axl's not in bad company there in the Top 10.... ... correct, that's Paul Rodgers ;) Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Deb Rose on January 02, 2009, 05:26:29 PM Steven Tyler should definitely be higher.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: uzisuicide2002 on January 02, 2009, 08:12:32 PM wow he is up over alot of great singers. Very nice. Alot of UK singers lol, but hey its a UK poll.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: The Dog on January 03, 2009, 12:46:04 AM Ian Astbury could be in the top 40... and I think Steve Perry should be higher up. Not really a Journey fan, but that guy can sing.
Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: Verse Chorus Verse on January 03, 2009, 01:27:56 AM i cant take that list seriously when Eddie Vedder aint on there, fair enough if you dont like his music [though i think its great] but he can sing like an angel. Ever seen there MTV unplugged. Good for Axl though I agree. They even put Cornell on there, but left out Eddie. And Bon Jovi's voice isn't exactly special, either. At least the old Axe is getting the respect he deserves. Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: cold razor on January 03, 2009, 08:38:00 AM i cant take that list seriously when Eddie Vedder aint on there, fair enough if you dont like his music [though i think its great] but he can sing like an angel. Ever seen there MTV unplugged. Good for Axl though I agree. They even put Cornell on there, but left out Eddie. And Bon Jovi's voice isn't exactly special, either. At least the old Axe is getting the respect he deserves. He had a very good voice back in the days. His songs are very hard to sing. As for that list, I respect every single one of those singers but it's not too close to my personal favorites. Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: GeorgeSteele on January 03, 2009, 01:44:42 PM Gotta have Joey Ramone on that list. I would have had Axl higher (OK, #1), but like Jarmo said it's quite a feat to be considered best of your generation. Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: GNR_Green on January 03, 2009, 02:02:57 PM i cant take that list seriously when Eddie Vedder aint on there, fair enough if you dont like his music [though i think its great] but he can sing like an angel. Ever seen there MTV unplugged. Good for Axl though It's a British classic rock station, I doubt they ever play PJ, apart from maybe one or two predictable hits from Ten. I think the list is ok considering the station's audience. And they voted Axl ahead of Bruce - considering it's a British poll you have to say that's impressive!Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: SisterMorphine on January 03, 2009, 02:14:50 PM Axl should be top 5 over Daltrey and Coverdale and maybe even the Deep Purple guy Daltrey at his peak should be higher if anything. The guy had power, range, was a great harmoniser and had no annoying vocal tics, plus if anything he was better live than in the studio. Who Sell Out, then Live At Leeds and Who's Next show all the facets of the guy. Totally under-rated, if anything. Title: Re: Axl Rose Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' Post by: lennonisgod on January 03, 2009, 04:15:28 PM Coverdale higher than Joplin and Morrison???
Joplin should be number one ahead of everyone... she WAS rock n' fuckin' roll. Then I would probably put Axl at #2. Janis never gets the respect she deserves these days. |
