Hopefully there's not already a thread about this. I thought it would be cool to see what people's opinions are on this.
For me it's Catcher in the Rye and There Was A Time. That will be mindblowing for sure.

If Baz is on the new tour, Sorry. Otherwise, I think Shackler's live would be absolutely f'n bananas.

On the next tour I really wanna hear loads from this album. I know it won't please most fans but i really won't care if hardly any old stuff is played.

as long as they play jungle, paradise city, sweet child ' mine, patience and november rain, i think they run of the mill gnr fans will be happy.  it would be amazing if he strated with a few classics, then played cd all the way through live.  then an encore of some more classics (and possibly this i love x 2!)

wouldn't mind to hear Chinese Democracy from top to bottom with 2 new track as a encore  ;) ... one and half hour show, with some great visual and also audio setup to match the quality and feel of album!

this album deserves a pink floyd: the wall style stage show.  that's the way it looks in my imagination when i listen to the album!

Catcher in the Rye isn't my favorite of the new songs, but I think it would be a blast to hear live. There's just so much stuff going on, it seems like a good song for everyone to shine in.

I think it would be awesome if they came out and played a few classics like Jungle, ISE, Brownstone, LALD, SCOM... and then go back for 5 minutes, come back out and play the album in its entirity.. take 5, come back out, play November Rain, Rocket Queen, Patience, Nightrain, Paradise City.

'Better' was pretty cool when I saw them in Vegas '06... I really like 'Chi Dem' also... But 'Sorry' is definitely the one I'd most like to hear live at this point.

I don't see em performing the others.
to much things going on to perform them live.

Can't you see a dramatic low lit stage, Axl solo at a piano with a lone spotlight on him as This I Love starts.  Then, a 2nd lone spotlight on (insert whoever is playing the solo at the time  :hihi:) as the solo starts, and then when the drums and rest of band kick in, the lights all come on building to a huge finish??

I have thought long and hard about this, and it's definately There Was A Time and Catcher In The Rye, closely followed by This I Love!

I remember 8 years ago, we talked about what it would be like the day where the album would be out and the setlist would be much more CD influenced! It seemed like a distant dream at the time, but NOW WE ARE HERE, MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I think this will be the best and most exciting tour ever. No doubt about it. :smoking:

I'm most looking forward to hearing the rockers, Shackler's, Scraped, Riad, and TWAT.  If the World and Sorry are on the second tier for me.  IRS, SOD, Better, CD, Maddy I've heard on past tours but obviously wouldn't mind hearing them again. 

Yep, I agree, Shackler's, Scraped and Twat....Those three the most for me.

Thinking of all the songs they play and what would fit well with the setlist (Ya overthinking it I know)

I think anymore then that would be too much.  However I am hoping they play a few different songs between the Regina and Stoon show.  

For me, Shacklers Revenge, TWAT, IRS and most of all Better.

Good to see GNR stepping out of the shadows and doing their own thing. I look forward to seeing it!

It would be interesting if Axl perfom Chinese Democracy in its entirety, although I'm not sure if Axl will be able to make a good performance in all songs. Just imagine, Chinese Democrac + WTTJ, November Rain, Nightrain, Scom y Paradise City..would be awesome !!. Anyway, I would like to hear definitely "Catcher in the Rye" and "Prostitute", one of my fav songs of the album.

Personally, I find it extremely difficult to choose which of the 'Chinese' tracks that I'd like to hear most. Each are truly its own separate masterpiece.

If I had to narrow it some, I'd go with: Shackler's, Scraped, If the World, There Was A Time, Prostitute, and This I Love.

God cant wait to hearn all of CD really, but out of those i havent yet heard live...hmmm:

Alright, which of the new songs do you think they should drop? 

In my opinion I'd be happy if they lost Street of Dreams and Madagascar.  Also wouldn't be too upset if they didn't play Chinese Democracy, but considering it's the title track, the only single to receive any sort of substantial airplay, and a likely show opener, I'll give it a pass. 

What I consider staples of the new material are Better, Shackler's Revenger and TWAT.  In my opinion, these should be played at every show much like Paradise City and Jungle.

As for songs that should be played often, I wouldn't mind hearing This I Love, Catcher in the Rye, Sorry and Prostitute (my money is that Prostitute is a track meant for the live stage).

Having heard Rhiad played live in Detroit in '02, trust me when I say that it wouldn't be the greatest sin to leave this off regular setlists.  I always thought this was the weakest song on the disc and the reaction it got in Detroit seems to suggest it's not a favourite with the crowd.  Granted, perhaps with familiarity it will be appreciated more, but for my own taste, I'd rather something from UYIs be played instead (cough, Estranged, Civil War, Yesterdays, Dead Horses, Perfect Crime).

Anyway, that's what I'm hoping for.

Shacklers' -- But I'm a little perplexed how Axl would cope with the tone on the vocal.

I was never a fan of Riad from the boots I heard.  BUT, I've gained a great appreciation for the track since the album was released so I'm willing to give it another shot.  And I'm excited to hear it live.  Musically, it could be the bands finest track as a whole to date.

Axl's live Voice fucked Riad in 2001/2002.

It's a great song, IMO.

WOW!!!  "downzy" is a perfect username for you!!!  Why, at this moment in time when EVERYTHING is looking GREAT AND POSITIVE, would you want to turn this or any other thread into something negative??  :confused:

Indeed. Kinda pointless to whish to drop new songs for no reason.

Also, to dismiss Riad live just because he didn't like it in Detroit (a really weird gig where Axl and the band were having problems), that was non-sense. Even on boots, I always loved the song.

Also, the band and Axl got much better after 2002. I bet Ron will kick everyone ass with his double neck in Riad.  

The album in its entirety, every song speaks to me in a special kind of way, some are more favorable in ways, but I just want to hear the whole thing "LIVE".

My sentiments exactly.

A few of the classics will be nice, but I'm going with the hope(s) that I will be hearing a lot of Chinese Democracy. It's time that this album gets the exposure that it deserves. 

Some of the new album we've been hearing for close to ten years now.  It's not a slight against SOD or Madagascar, but if they're only playing 16-19 songs a night, I'd prefer to shed a couple of songs that we've heard played live numerous times in favour of stuff we haven't heard at all.  Had we never heard Madagascar before CD's release I would be all in favour of playing it live nightly.

As for Rhiad, just not a fan and voicing my opinion as such.  I've heard it in bootlegs, live and on CD and still find little to like.  And since it was greeted with a collective yawn in Detroit and sounded horrible at RIR, I don't think I'm far off to suggest something like this.

I guess you missed how I said that Better, TWAT and Shackler's should be treated as required songs on a nightly basis. 

Anyway, I figured after reading the same responses for three pages I'd ask the flip side to the question.  Didn't realize certain people were so sensitive.

Funny, because they didnt play Riad in RIR. Also, I think the Detroit gig wasn't really a normal show - people didn't seem to care about ANY of the new songs, wich were played in a row.

Saw some people saying how Riad was one of the most impressive songs in Vegas.

Riad is the most difficult GNR song on rock band.

I really think Riad is the hidden gem of CD, it is criminally underrated even by the most loyal fans. Axl's voice is top notch, its the most difficult bass song on CD except maybe Shackler's, the drums have great energy throughout the entire song, there is one particular guitar part (during the chorus) that is absolutely :drool: worthy and I thoroughly enjoy both Ron's solo, and Buckethead's outro.

In my humble opinion it holds up, and deserves as much respect as any other song on CD.

the first time prostitute is played live will be a monumental occasion.  it's going to be electric, in whichever stadium is lucky enough to get that moment.  i'm sure someone will video it.  once that thing hits youtube, gnr will have its first bonafide viral moment.  it could actually do more to promote the album than best buy.

Of course Scraped (my favorite), TWAT and then all the others. The only one I'd leave out if necessary is ITW. Not that I dislike the song (and I even think it would be interesting because of the mix of Spanish guitar, jazzy piano and electronic beats) but it's the song with the less interesting lyrics IMO so I can live without it.

At least I think its Robin - he played it live in 2002 and it does sound like him in the studio version. It's one of the highlights for me in the track too. :)

I have never seen GN'R live so any song will be good with me but from one of the new songs I want to either hear Better, or Shackles Revenge live but its real tough to say that with 100% certainty because I love all the songs from CD so dam much :peace:

This I Love (which I have a feeling may be played sporadically...not as often as a song like Better or Chinese Democracy), Prostitute (the new Coma in terms of times played), and Catcher In The Rye.  I also want There Was A Time...preferably played immediately after November Rain.  I don't think Sorry will turn out to be too special live, but with Baz on tour I know it will be played.  I hope If The World and Scraped don't get played...I'm not much of a fan of those two.

The deeper mystery here to me is, "What songs will be dropped from regular rotation?"  Will they still be breaking out songs like Don't Cry, Live and Let Die, or Out Ta Get Me?  I can see some of the older songs that have had their playtime being dropped in favour of a song like Sorry or There Was A Time.  Last time they were in Winnipeg, they didn't play Rocket Queen.  I am on the floor...and will shit a chicken and throw it on stage if they don't play it this time!  Don't you drop that one, Axl!

I think they will do NR and TiL (sometimes), but hasn't Axl said he would not play Estranged without Slash?  I know he feels he owes him for the way that song turned out, and I don't see him breaking that promise if it was in fact made.

I'd love to hear a kick-arse new song, that NOBODY has heard before.

I'm very thankful that Chinese Democracy was released, and that it IS as good as it IS, but something raw and new would be fantastic... :)

Not so much what songs I am looking forward to hearing, but I'd love it if they have more of the visuals they had at Leeds. They had some awlsome clips, would love to see more of them. All the songs from CD could be well supported with Images. As much as I love the band, I'm 44 and like looking at action shots and pretty ladies.... :-*

Them showing up here in Denmark would be enough to make me happy, but if I should pick out a few of the new ones, then it would have to be Sorry and There Was A Time. As far as oldies are concerned, I'd love to hear Rocket Queen, Down On The Farm and I Used To Love Her. In a perfect world  they would also be playing their rendition of "Sway" by The Stones...

I think the possibility of hearing the entire Chinese Democracy live is so exciting!!

Just being at any live concert of GN'R would be enough to make me happy, that would be unbelievably amazing!

I was really looking forward to hearing This I Love and Catcher In The Rye. As I attended the Toronto show, I have now heard these and they rocked. Out of the ones that I haven't heard live I would have to say I'm now really looking forward to hearing Prostitute and There Was A Time.

Lets hope I catch the rest of the songs when they come to Europe.  ;)
