The characters on the inside of the inlay tray says "Qiang He Mei Gui" (Pronounced Chung Huh May Gwee) that means Guns N' Roses.  On the middle section of the book with all the people says "Zhong Guo Min Zu" (Pronounced Zong Gwa Mean Zoo) means Chinese Democracy.

thanks to two users of gnronline.it (students of chinese language):

outside:

"【qiāng】【hé】玫瑰【méigui】"  = Guns N' Roses. (on the side of the sleeve)

"民主【mínzhǔ】" Democracy (under the GNR inside the chinese logo)

inside:

Street of Dreams - "梦想【mèngxiǎng】 街道【jiēdào】" = street of dreams

Scraped - "【guā】" = scraped

big graphic with Mao and flags - "中国【Zhōngguó】 民主【mínzhǔ】"  Chinese Democracy

I.R.S. - "【yuán】" ... it's the chinese money

Madagascar - "马达加斯加【Mǎdájiāsījiā】" Madagascar...

You must not have the needed fonts installed.

I'm pretty sure I read this thread carefully, but what about the characters on the page with Pitman?  The characters are on the page with the "If The World" lyrics.  They are written vertically on the right-hand side of the page.  The color of the characters/writing is beige.  Also, I just realized that on the "This I Love" page there is a character (in red) in the background, "behind" the lyrics.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
