Title: 2009 Predictions Make them now!
Post by: dungbeetle on November 30, 2008, 01:51:52 AM
2009 Predictions.  I see a tour and hopefully a more public Axl.  Lots of guest spots on the tour from people who recorded on CD sessions.  Including Buckethead at a few shows.  The album sales wise will have legs much like KId Rock Rock N Roll Jesus.

I predict that Axl will start to tour and the band will do a better job of promoting the album. I predict that This I Love will become the hugest hit off of cd.

When I'm feeling upbeat about things... this IS exactly my prediction as well. I'll even go one step farther and say that Robin Finck will come back too. : ok:

word of mouth turns chinese democracy into the biggest hit album of the year.

helped by the release of an epic video for this i love that expands upon the holy trinity of videos.

gnr begins a two year tour, mostly sold out shows.

finck begs to rejoin, but axl tells him to fuck off.

gnr becomes the most popular band in the world for the second time with a whole new generation.

Maybe I'm too hopeful: Big tour, some Grammy nominations (best hard rock song? best hard rock album?), a couple videos, a b-sides/extras album/ or "special addition" of CD, a live DVD, and... hints of the second album coming out in 2010? Probably some fan complaints that Axl isn't doing enough, too.

A tour with a set change of a couple of songs at best, not complaining BTW, if festivals are being done, I'd rather those there who ain't fans don't get pissed by songs they don't know - leads to bad atmosphere IMV.

Funny!

But no way in hell that would happen, I could see it the other way around unfortunately.

Yea, I think Axl is cool with most everyone who was involved with this and would even like to bring guys like Buckethead on the road.

I do think there will be a tour in 2009.

1. TV ads run during NFL football (Holy SHIT, it just happened, during the NFL Today show on CBS!)

2. "This I Love" released a a single shortly before Valentine's Day. Song sets itunes record with 25 million downloads. Hits #1 on Billboard charts, stays at that position for a record 32 weeks  ;D

3. Axl does exclusive interview with Dateline NBC, airs following Super Bowl XLIII. In interview, Axl puts reunion rumors to rest, hints at double album in 2010, and talks of plans to write his memoir.

4. '09 summer tour in Europe/Asia/Australia. Winter tour in USA. No Finck on either tour.

5. Chinese Democracy certified 3x platinum in U.S.

I can't see another monkey on his back, the next album will be finished/ or almost done) before you hear anything (sorry if this is what you meant) would be great to see the new band written album to underline that the current line up is the real deal IYSWIM

A 2009 tour is inevitable... it would be moronic for them not to tour now that the album has been released. That's why they will...

They'll definetly tour in '09. My guess is first a North American leg in February-April, and then head over to Europe to play festivals in the summer. What would be really awesome is if they paired up with another huge band like Metallica or The Stones or something and played stadiums rather than the normal arena's. Where do you guys think the first show of '09 will be? Gotta be either L.A, NY, or Vegas... i'm hoping a small show at the Joint or HOB in vegas.  :peace:

I reckon albums 2 & 3 are done as well, and will be slowly introduced over the tour. Live shows in 2009, with a concert DVD at the end of the year. Early 2010 Album #2. More touring. Live TV appearances, interviews, techy with the band, more personal with Axl. Late 2011/early 2012 for album #3. Take the band off the road mid 2012, ideal time for a documentary DVD, and then crack on with album #4 written between 2007-2012, for release early 2014. Maybe a live album in 2015.

But I'm wrong.
