With Chinese Democracy, it would probably be easier listing what songs "Aren't" gonna be singles cause I am going down the list and there are several that I can't imagine not being singles

I also think they should release This I Love to mainstream and top 40 type of radio stations.  It could pull in demographics that never would have been into GnR

catcher in the rye and street of dreams are the only two titles that can switch on any radio or music channel  :yes:

I vote for Sorry, but Shotgun's Idea of This I Love on Top 40 is a good one.  Any station that plays Elton John....

All minus Catcher and Sorry imo could be singles.

There Was A Time or Street of Dreams. I would save This I Love for the last single.

Street of Dreams or Catcher. TWAT is too long for commercial radio. This I love is a phenomenal song... but not radio-friendly.

Scraped would be an ok single.

Shackler's.

They should have bought that out as an iTunes single when RB2 hit. Not that it matters now :hihi:

I dunno, a lot of people hated it... even moreso than Chinese Democracy.

I love both songs and have them near the top of my list, but the public reception Shackler's got was pretty poor.

too early now because we have yet to see the music video's for Chinese Democracy and Better. I would say If The World.

My choices would be lets give Better some more time for proper airplay as we got two singles very close together and its a great tune as is Chinese Democracy

Following that: Street of Dreams, Prostitute or Sorry are all great songs, but always have good airplay appeal for radio

I think This I Love is a much "safer" single than Prostitute because it has a real chorus which is incredibly catchy due to the melody of it

Prostitute doesn't have a chorus.  It has verses, over two types of sections, the low key, poppy piano ballad sections and the soaring, bombastic hard rock sections.  The vocal melodies are incredibly and it's catchy due to that but it doesn't have a sing along chorus like This I Love

For a Big hit single, u need something memorable and something people will sing a long to.

this is not a "which song do you like most" thread..... you can like or dislike Sorry, or Shackler's or any other song on the album... that's don't matter..

we are guessing on which song would be a good single (no matter which song we personally like), and I repeat that Street of Dreams is a perfect third single.

I agree. I think SOD is very classic for whatever that's worth, but i could also see This I Love or If The World doing well, so i'm curious what they'll do. Either way i think Better is the keystone of the album and the one that has to make the big push. By the time the third single hits, everyone should already have GNR on the mind.

It will probably be "Street Of Dreams", though I think "Scraped" deserves to be a single at some point in time.

"Single" is a confusing term to some extent.  The world was exposed to Shackler's, CD, and Better, so I think something less aggressive would be a good idea. 

SO...I agree.  Sorry would be great.  Catcher would also work well.  Or Maddy.  I'm sure there are greedy fucks in suits who know more about what will sell than I do.  But, for once, our interests are aligned.  I want rock to retake the world, knock corporate pop from it's pedestal, and reassume it's rightful place on the throne.  Granted, it'll lead to corporate rock at some point, and another coup will be imminent, but for now I'll deal with that inevitability just to hear good, new, rock n' roll on the air.

I'm listening to Catcher as I write, and I think that this track could really appeal to a lot of classic rock fans.

If u are saying street of dreams, that means u think it is the most commercial and best ballad on CD and I just can't understand that at all.

It is an awesome song, but radio friendly usually means great melodies that stick in your head, something that is universally relatable and something with a nice big chorus that melts everyone's heart.

SOD's is a great song, but I don't think it is more commercial than Sorry or TIL.

the next rocker should be either Riad N the bedouins or Sorry and the next ballad as a single should be either this i love or catcher imo :peace:

Holy fucking God!  This is my first post after my 1st complete listen-through.  Thank you Guns N' Roses.  Fucking AWESOME!  It's probably already been mentioned, but This I Love would make for a beautiful single.  I'm sure radio would shorten it up, but yes, This I LOve.  Amazingly beautiful.

I think "This I Love" and "Sorry" are two of the best songs on the album, and two songs that would appeal to listeners who may not even be big fans of Guns N Roses. "This I Love" is seriously the most heartbreaking, depressing song I've ever heard, and I think it would be a huge hit due to all the people who could relate to its lyrics. And "Sorry" sounds like no GNR song I've ever heard, it's instantly memorable, and the lyrics, which one can easily relate to Slash or Scott Weiland, would create even more interest in the song, making people ask, "Is he talking about who I think he's talking about?"

I really hope "Street of Dreams" isn't picked as a single. I had such high, high hopes for that song, and let's just say I'm hugely disappointed with the version that's on the album.

I think Better deserves a nice long run to get hooked to on radio. I'd say atleast until January.

Then I'd say

1. Street Of Dreams - just cause its the most radio friendly ballad, instantly catchy, not too long in length.

2. IRS - The next best radio ready rocker(even though I dig scraped). Its got a rock feel with big guitars and a catchy chorus

I think Sorry would work down the road...I dunno about Prostitute or This I Love. TWAT is my fav, but maybe too long. I could hear it on an "album cut" weekend airplay, but it'll be more of an Estranged type cult song

I think This I Love is a song that's easily-listenable, but it's not the kind of song Guns N' Roses should put out as a single. This is the jewel of the album, the reason people should buy the album. If GNR give away their greatest song on this album (imo) as a single, then listeners could be slightly disappointed with the rest of the album.

Hell, most of the songs from the album are single material.

Personally, though, Id prefer if Guns N Roses didnt release singles. Pull a Led Zeppelin and simply refuse. Make videos, sure, but release them on DVD singles instead. I mean, we already have the songs on the album, just give us the videos on DVD single.

I'm pretty sure that bands don't release half the album as singles.

It wouldn't be smart for them to do anyway. I'd say about two more and then tour.

Some do, especially if the singles are all successful. Hell, I think 3/4ths of the songs on Daughtry's album have been released as singles.

Just to use the Guns N' Roses example.  If an album is successful, it will spawn many singles.

There Was A Time should be released sometime. Mainly this song has a Stones-y feel. It reminds me of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" but more modern.

I would break out "If The World" which has probably the highest "crossover" appeal out any of the tracks on the album. I really feel like we're at a "critical" juncture here. The reviews have been mostly great and the hard core fan base is mostly pleased (extremely pleased in many cases)- BUT it's time to reach out to "the masses". The same masses that got pulled in by the "November Rain" video in '92 and put this band on a Michael Jackson/Madonna pop star level. "If The World" has that kind of potential IMHO.: ok:

I think you could make anyone of the songs the next single. I notice a lot fo people taking about they need a video. Do they even show videos on tv anymore? i thought most of the videos were online.

I think we're all jumping the gun with all these singles. They've released 2 singles in a matter of 1 month, which is way too early for 2 singles. Lets get it right now.

I would like to see a properly released single with a video (even just edited live footage would be cool) and I want that single to be IRS.

Well, Better was released to radio, but not really sold as a single I guess.

As for the next single, I'd like it to be Sorry, but wouldn't be surprised if it's This I Love or Street of Dreams.

While I prefer other songs like Prostitute and This I Love, I have to say Street of Dreams is probably the most radio-friendly ballad out of them... so I'd go with that.

Or for somethin rockin', Shackler's Revenge.

Not without videos (and, ideally, interesting b-sides for the hardcore fans).

I don' think Shackler's is realistic anymore, they released it on Rock Band and now to release it "again" would seem a bit dull.

I think TWAT would be perfect next. They got two "rocker" singles now and TWAT falls somewhere in between.

And from what I remember is that TWAT got the most evoking and warm reception from the leaks. I heard it on local radio today and it seemed to 'cause a buzz.

Is Better getting any radio play?

I have yet to hear Better, but strangely, heard Riad around the 21st ('pix' 106 Albany, NY), and continue to hear CD...I think Better was a great choice, and is by far the strongest song for radio play.

Fortunately I do not have to put up with radio anymore (too  many filler songs between GnR plays)...I can listen to all 14 songs off CD in any order, and as many times as I like.  : ok:

I would REALLY like "There Was A Time" to be a single, or "I.R.S."  Both sound like classic GNR, to me.

I think Scraped should be timed for maximum airport at a date proximate to a big sporting event. I think it could be quite a hit.
