Title: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on November 20, 2008, 06:28:34 PM I'm not going to listen to the album until i buy it on saturday and have the physical disc in my hand. I have waited for almost 8 years for that moment where i go to the record store, buy the disk and put it in my cd player and listen to it for the first time.
anyone here doing the same and not listening to any leaks or myspace stuff? Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Ines_rocks! on November 20, 2008, 06:31:44 PM You have the physical disc in your hands and you won't listen to it??? :o :o
Is something wrong with you? :P Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on November 20, 2008, 06:32:56 PM no. i said i will have it on saturday and listen to it then, for the first time
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: commissioner on November 20, 2008, 06:33:11 PM There are a few people here doing the same!
For me, I couldn't wait :peace: I am anxious to read the proper lyrics thou!!! Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Ines_rocks! on November 20, 2008, 06:35:06 PM no. i said i will have it on saturday and listen to it then, for the first time lol im sorry... I read it faster than the brain processing... :hihi: well... still, good luck with that! I tried but I couldnt :( Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: estebanf on November 20, 2008, 06:36:47 PM no. i said i will have it on saturday and listen to it then, for the first time count me in. I know I can hear the tracks at the MySpace, I know I got ''other options'' to hear them, but I will not listen a damn second of the album until I got the physical disc in my hands. But I wont have it no sunday, like you. I will have it next friday. This is my personal via-crucis. I think i'm going to explode. But i'm not gonna spoil all these years of waiting by hearing the finished tracks for the first time at same compressed bitrate stream in my PC speakers. These 7 days will be tougher than the 7 years I've spent waiting. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: mrarkadin on November 20, 2008, 06:37:38 PM That was my intention. Alas... it seemed too good to get a couple listens in before Sunday.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: RoCoKiN on November 20, 2008, 06:38:36 PM I'm itchin'like a freaking heroin addict to go over to GN'R's Myspace to hear it but I can't bring myself to do it. It's all about the ritual of spending ten minutes getting the plastic off the cd, and then opening up, getting that new cd smell, and read the liner notes as it plays away.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: erose on November 20, 2008, 06:39:15 PM I'll admit that i listened to the 9 leaks when they came, but i stopped listening to them, like Nytunz did, when the official release date dropped.
I was extremely surprised and happy with how much better the quality of the sound was on the actual cd and i was also very surprised and happy with all the differences and upgrades from what really was just demos to the finished product. The only thing about the whole record that I'm a tiny bit disappointed in is the fact that May is not featured in CITR. Other than that the thing is just so fat it's not even funny. It's like there's fuckin' tooth paste comming out of my speakers. The sound quality is incredible. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Axl&Baz07 on November 20, 2008, 06:41:24 PM me!! i thought i was alone in this!! i haven't heard a damn thing yet, and will not listen to any of the leaks or singles or anything until i have the CD in hand, on Sunday!
 Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Nytunz on November 20, 2008, 06:46:02 PM I'm not going to listen to the album until i buy it on saturday and have the physical disc in my hand. I have listend to some demos yes. But i will not listen to anything before i get the cd tomorrow! : ok: No Myspace.. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Loaded NightraiN on November 20, 2008, 06:47:50 PM I stayed away from NEW leaks, and myspace
Until today when I got the cd!!!!! :peace: Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Lady Livin on November 20, 2008, 06:50:04 PM My intention is to wait until I've bought it, but although I did cheat a tiny bit, at least the tracks I pressed were ones I'd already heard as leaks from the past. Willpower, people... I'm swallowing my own medicine. You can't get a first impression twice, after all.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: cotis on November 20, 2008, 06:52:06 PM I've only listened to Chinese Democracy on the radio and the single that I got, haven't listened to any leaks, demos, live stuff (anything GNR) for about 2 months now...since we got official word. It's going to be quite fun Sunday on the ride home from Best Buy and all day blaring Chinese Democracy ;D
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Axl Z on November 20, 2008, 06:53:00 PM I'm not listening to anything past track 6, i think i've heard the rest of the tracks when i've seen them live. so basically i don't want to spoil the new tracks.. like was said before, i've waited too long to hear this than thru crappy laptop!!
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on November 20, 2008, 07:05:00 PM I've heard all the demos aswell. Aswell as the Chinese Democracy and the Better single, The last one only once though. Buti have not listened to the rest of the finished products. I've stopped listening to all the demos since the release date was official.
I can't wait for saturday. Tomorrow will be tough Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: neon2002 on November 20, 2008, 07:06:36 PM I'm not listening to the last 3 songs (Scraped, This I Love & Sorry) until I get the physical copy of the CD. However I am listening to everything else on My Space as I've already heard the leaked demos.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: axlsalinger on November 20, 2008, 07:17:25 PM I'm not listening to the last 3 songs (Scraped, This I Love & Sorry) until I get the physical copy of the CD. However I am listening to everything else on My Space as I've already heard the leaked demos. Heh, this was exactly my plan. Until I saw a link to the Myspace page, and clicked it, and saw those song titles .... I am weak, lol. So I listened to 'Sorry' and half of "This I Love', along with the new version of 'Catcher in the Rye'. I did manage to avoid listening to 'Scraped'. Not a big deal though, I already want to hear them again, but I got my fix and now I'll wait until Sunday. Good luck to anyone else who's still holding out! Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: NEWportTimbo on November 20, 2008, 07:18:21 PM Sorry, I am listening all day at work. The album has been put in a place for fans to hear it. I dont think you are commiting a sin by listening to the album on their Myspace page. In fact, I am helping them by adding about 1,000 plays per day!
:peace: However, on Sunday when the roomate and gfriend are gone (I am sooooo lucky!) I will play my physical CD all the way through and send some green smoke into the air!!! --Timbo Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: GnR-NOW on November 20, 2008, 07:20:48 PM I listened to it on myspace, but I will never listen to any future leaks of new songs
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: faldor on November 20, 2008, 07:23:38 PM I'm gonna break down and listen tomorrow night. Set up a little listening party. I didn't think my friends would agree, but they did, so now I must go through with it. It's been tough staying away though since midnight last night. I did listen to the first 3 songs on the album, as I've already heard those 3 on the radio anyway. And my cpu was too slow to close down myspace so I ended up hearing the first 20 seconds or so of Street Of Dreams. I'm not counting that though.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: sneeks on November 20, 2008, 07:25:36 PM I'm not listening until I have the real cd bought and at home.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: crow316 on November 20, 2008, 07:27:28 PM You guys know its the same songs on Myspace thats on the CD right?
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: GnFnR87 on November 20, 2008, 07:28:50 PM i'm holdin' out too. won't listen to it till sunday when i go and buy it. then i'm gonna chill out and listen to it all the way through.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: greenfrog03 on November 20, 2008, 07:30:43 PM I hadnt listened to anything that I didn't hear on the radio. I refused to listen to any leaks, or even anything on myspace. Got my copy of CD today though, and am loving it.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: gummyfish on November 20, 2008, 07:32:37 PM I preordered it and had it shipped to my best buy, and i'm refusing to listen to it online.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: MadmanDan on November 20, 2008, 07:34:52 PM I was thinking the same thing, not to listen until I actually have the CD, but the I thought...Am I fucking mad?? (ignore my nickname:) ) Has the records companies anti-internet downloading propaganda got to us???
These are FINISHED SONGS, people !! Not demos, not live shit, they are 100% the finished article. So why wait?? Sure, it sounds better on a 5.1 speaker sistem, but they're still the same songs ! Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: stone_temple_roses on November 20, 2008, 07:44:33 PM Well, already heard CD on the radio and bits and pieces of Better (I have dial up internet, so thats why, and yeah it sucks.) Aside from that, never listened to the leaks and/demos, live stuff, etc. And I do not use myspace, therefore I am holding out until Sunday. I'm getting very anxious but its worth the wait because its something to look forward to. I will definately be spending the rest of that day listening to it, can't wait to see the physical product with the booklet and everything. It will be a special day, I will tell you that. By the way, Better is a GREAT song, even though I've only heard bits and pieces. I hate my internet.

Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: estebanf on November 20, 2008, 08:25:34 PM You guys know its the same songs on Myspace thats on the CD right? but it's not the same ritual. There is still people out there who give importance to listening music the way it should be heard. I need a physical album, I need to touch the booklet. I need to feel the emotion of inserting the CD in my audio system. I want to feel surprised in the proper conditions. The waiting is fucking killing me, trust me, i'm desperate. But it will be worth. Oh, and they are not the same. Compression, in audio terms, means ''lack of something''. I want to hear the full, complete thing in my first time. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: FunkyMonkey on November 20, 2008, 08:37:20 PM I haven't heard it yet...and reading all the comments/reviews hasn't made it any easier. :)
I'm looking forward to Sunday. : ok: Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Ax on November 20, 2008, 11:59:45 PM I have been waiting to hear this cd since before I knew what the internet was and will be waiting to hear it until I buy it at the store. Part of it is that I have been thinking for years about what it will be like to walk into a store and pick the cd up off the shelf and don't want to spoil that experience by having already heard all the songs online. It will be a very strange experience buying the cd since it is something I have thought about for so long. Sunday will be a day I remember for a long time.
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Eazy E on November 21, 2008, 12:07:48 AM Guys, the album is on Myspace! They WANT you to hear it now, join in!
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Thorned Rose on November 21, 2008, 12:16:56 AM I think most of us have heard the leaks througout the years.
I have given in, but to have the actual album in my hands will still be just as sweet to me. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Lord Kayoss on November 21, 2008, 12:32:06 AM I have already "ruined it" for myself due to the simple fact that if I hadn't, several others around me would have.
I am by far the biggest GN'R fan anyone who knows me knows, so any and everyone who has already downloaded the album have been blowing up my phone and email telling me all about it. If not for that, I would've waited. But still, that won't take away from the feeling I'll have when I have the CD in my hands when I walk out of Best Buy. That one event has been so many years full of DEEP anticipation in the making and cannot be jaded in any way. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: TempletonPeck on November 21, 2008, 02:24:22 AM I too had listened to the nine leaks (plus a demoish version of Catcher In The Rte), but went on Chinese Democracy sabbatical once the release date dropped. I have been listening to bootleg concerts though, with some new songs in there...
Sunday cannot come soon enough. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: thelostrose on November 21, 2008, 02:37:16 AM I listend to all of the demos during the last years, but this last few weeks i resisted. i didn't even listen to the demos anymore. so i'm really excited... just as i was before christmas, when i was a kid. ;)
just as i read about myspace, for a second i thought, 'it's official, i could listen to them.', but i gladly resisted. now i'm off to my record shop. it's opening in less than an hour... finally... it was worth the wait... Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: wight gunner on November 21, 2008, 04:57:21 AM Tried too, but last night the missus went to bed early and I was all alone, could resist going to my space. Result, after 6 listens through head-phones right the way through it was 5 am before going to bed.... :peace:
Wow is all I can say, well worth the wait! Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: babydolls on November 21, 2008, 05:18:35 AM I am holding out till I buy it - its tough as fuck though! The reason is that the quality of sound on my laptop at home and pc at work are frankly shit and I want to hear it with the best possible sound that I can. I've been on to the myspace page (with it muted) and been so close to listening to IRS or TWAT, but am trying to hang on for Monday! When I heard Chi Dem when it went to radio the other week it convinced me to hang on for the rest until I could put the vinyl on my record player on Monday - open the champagne and crank it... I cant read any more reviews or info about the booklet either - soon it will be in my hands!
Will i break over the weekend...?? man oh man! Planned a weekend full of GnR dvds and records to get me to Monday, whereupon I BUY CHINESE DEMOCRACY! (sorry, its still sinking in...) Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: cyllan on November 21, 2008, 05:20:25 AM I've avoided myspace, reading the track-by-track reviews and the London listening party because the first time I hear this album it has to be just me and the music - even the booklet will have to wait until after that first play. After I saw my last show in '93 I thought that it would be the start of a 3 year (or 4 maximum) wait until the next album and that that would be difficult enough. Good job I didn't know then what I know now!
It still doesn't seem quite real to me and maybe won't until I physically have the CD in my hands. This weekend the waiting will be intense but oh so worth it come Monday. I firmly believe that hearing this for the first time will be on a par with the first spin of AFD and the feeling of being struck by a musical thunderbolt and that here was something the like of which I'd never heard before. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: axlroselegend on November 21, 2008, 06:04:51 AM stick with it guys you are almost there
I am delighted I waited and it made getting cd Thursday all the sweeter The album is a journey but one you desrve to make your own Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: demo23nz on November 21, 2008, 06:37:24 AM I barely listened to that last round of leaks, and haven't listened to anything since it became evident the album was actually on its way.
Comes out in three days here. Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: kaasupoltin on November 21, 2008, 06:51:55 AM I haven't listened to it on MySpace or anything, I'm waiting to get the real deal. About 10 hours to go!

This still remains for me to hear on CD: - If The World (last half) - Catcher In The Rye (last half) - Scraped - Riad N' The Bedouins - Sorry (last half) - I.R.S. - Prostitute Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: gcluskey on November 21, 2008, 07:00:45 AM I've listened to all the leaks and demos but have now listened to the actual album (got an advanced copy) and it's totally amazing, the soundscape is just awesome! The songs sound so much better!
Title: Re: Anyone here who won't spoil it for themselves? Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on November 21, 2008, 07:25:09 AM Oh my gosh. A record store in my town already has the CD, one day before the acutal release. I'm off buying Chinese Democracy now. I can't believe it. I just can't!
