I've been scratching my head with a week to go where is a music video can anyone shed some light on this, I would of thought the vital thing for this record would be a music video  ???

I am thinking there will be one next week.  RollingStone mentioned GN'R working on a video not too long ago, but pulled the article.

Im guessing a video without Robin... maybe it's an animated thing ? or something.... I don't know..

Since there are old pics in the booklet,they will probably use old footage for the video as well.So,in that sense Robin isn't needed for the video.

Rumour has it that 'Better' will be the next single, premiering on Monday. As I said this is just a rumour, and I read it on one of the forums, can't remember where right now.

It would be perfect if it comes out with a video.

Times have changed since the 90's when GNR and other bands made videos that were like mini movies.  Videos are hardly played on TV anymore, at least nowhere near the frequency that they used to.  You can find videos on the internet, but my point is, videos are not as big a deal now as they once were.  They may feel that there's no need to make a music video at this point.  I used to be a big Pearl Jam fan and I remember them quitting the music video business after "Jeremy".  They came out with a video for "Do The Evolution", but it was animated.  It's possible they just see the music video as a dying breed.  Radio killed the video star?

Every single needs a video in my opinion even if it just mashed together live footage, it get the song more publicity and gains a wider audience youtube etc. I mean look at that call on me remix a few years back absolute shit imo but i was huge due to the fact it had very sexy ladies in Lycra working out lol, not saying we should get GNR in Lycra but i hope you see my point videos sometime make singles or at least help it out ( have you any idea the amount of video channels ).

I agree. Image is everything in sales anyway (thats the facts talking, not me - if only it were all about the music) - no visual representation, no image. Sure, Axl's image is burned in all our minds, but kids and teens will want to see what all the fuss is about. Likewise, a video would be a great way of showcasing the new lineup.

There's more to promo videos than MTV, as DGR pointed out. YouTube, iTunes, DVDs, viral...etc.

Would be cool to see, sure, but video or no video, what matters right now is the fucking record.

No video to promote the biggest CD release in a decade, boggles the mind.

People can say videos dont matter, but all popular bands make them. Pretty much all bands do that are anything. The need a video for the first single, and they should have it out this week of release.

So how the freekin hell do you promote a single on TV without a video? A photograph? 'tallica live shots? Pacman? Good grief, you need some representation, it will probably be live stuff. But no video, no way brother. LALD was live stuff as was in parts PC why do you think having nothing is the alternative to "making a video(as in a scripted/story board)"

its just that there is more mobile ways of accessing it then just waiting for it to come to tv...

Obviously youtube is popular, and I may be in the minority here.  I'm on there a lot, but hardly ever watch official music videos on there.  I've watched many fan-made videos.  The songs will be on youtube in one form or another with or without a video soon enough.  So they'll get exposure.

I would think the band would want an official video to help promote the new CD.  A video would help introduce new gnr to the casual fan, and is one more avenue of exposure for the new material.  Yes fan made videos can accomplish this as well, but they aren't always accurate.  If this was my decision, I would want to control the images that accompanied my new music.

I hear what you're saying, and I imagine they will make/release a video eventually.  But apparently that's not on the top of the priority list at this time.

Well it's hard to argue with that, cause I don't see a video.

I was wondering if there are any rumours out there for plans of a music video for the upcoming single('s)?? Chinese Democracy is now released as a single and is doing quite well in a lot of charts, but I think it could do a lot better when there was also a video for it...
same for 'Better'

in the uk the rock channel "scuzz" is watched by alot of people and its where i heard the new metallica song hav'nt heard it antwhere else apart from on there!

They have ample live footage from various gigs (especially the Hammerstein shows in NYC) to cobble together for a video. 

I'm HOPING we get one for Better.....we'll see.

it's been 14 yrs since a music video from the boys... i would love too see Better as a video. MTV owes a lot to GN'R. It brought credibility to music videos.

With the exception of Michael Jackson, Peter Gabriel, and a handfew others... Music videos for rock artists were a joke... that is until Axl showcased a little of what was in his head.

MTV better play that shit all day... now they don't even have TRL. MTV sucks. I hope it dies.

i highly doubt there will ever be a music video of any song, unless it was nothing but live footages and that's it. Unless they just add pieces of dramatic stuff with axl and axl only.  It's hard to make a november rain or estranged like video if members of the band in recent years just keep on constantly changing. You have to take that into consideration, no one really knows what's going on since robin left.  For all we know slash could seceretly be the new lead guitar player again.  Wishful thinking yes, but you just dont know with a band like this.

Do you think he still has the "AXL" high tops from the Estranged video?  If so, they should definitely make a cameo in his new video...

I would put a decent bet on the live-montage being part of a promo video. If the band had been on location filming a video, we'd surely have heard about it.

Music videos are highly important its world wide exposure!! I don't think we will see Axl doing a November Rain-esq sorta video ever, if we all know Axl he is all about change and not living your life through one video just an example. I just wanna see a video and then I'll cream my jeans ;>

I dont think videos are necessary

They already sold the CD to Best Buy, So they don't really have to make videos etc to promote it. Once they signed the Best Buy deal, they are golden with profit.

I do even though some music channels don't play them, they are necessary.  If they weren't thing there wouldn't be two GnR video's waiting in the wings.  Youtube, Myspace, I-Tunes, Fuse, Vh1 all play music video's still.  It's great promotion, if it wasn't then Kanye, Brittany, and The Killers wouldn't be making them.

I do not care if video's are necessary or not. I just want to see one because I like the GN'R music video's... Also I don't care if the video would be footages of live performances or something else...but what I would like to see, is a 'badass attitude' video to show all the current popular and so-called rockbands that they can suck GN'R ass in every way. There is nothing out there (ROCK music video) at this moment which is really great.

Also, I believe, a music video WILL help GN'R to win their popularity back to the 'big audience'.... It is not needed if they don't care...but it would be nice  :peace:

I'm kind of surprised there is no mention anywhere of music videos in production for an album which is going to be pretty successful.  This seems odd to me.  We should have a video by now.  Most bands release a video before the album drops.  This is a bit disappointing and I think it has something to do with the Robin situation.  Guns are about to have the #1 album on the rock charts and no videos...

This album is going to move 2 or 3 million units probably.  How do you not have a video out by now?  It seems strange to me and while I love the album, I think we are all finding out why this took 15 years to make.  There seems to be a lack of coordination within the band.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned before, and I can't find the source to cite it, but I could have sworn there was mention of a video being filmed in 2006 and how all members were on location.  I thought it was either Tommy or Ron that commented about it prior to the Japan trip?
