SLASH, Wife Speak Out Against Proposition 8; Video Available - Nov. 14, 2008

A short video clip of former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash (born Saul Hudson) and his wife Perla Hudson speaking out against Proposition 8 can be viewed below.

Proposition 8 was a California State ballot proposition that amended the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman. It overrode a recent California Supreme Court decision that had recognized same-sex marriage in California as a fundamental right. The official ballot title language for Proposition 8 is "Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry." The entirety of the text to be added to the constitution was: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

Very nice.   Glad to see Slash using his influence for something positive like this. 

Does this mean that all the celebrity and other gay marriages that took place after the court ruling are not valid?

From what I have read and understand, they cannot go back and reverse marriages that had already taken place when Prop 8 passed.

They need to reverse prop 8

Had "the sanctity of marriage" not evolved over the years, Slash and Perla would not be allowed to be married.   Its amazing how many bigots we've had throughout American history.

I have yet to see anyone opposed to gay marriage give a very good reason to be opposed to it.   It takes nothing away from anyone else's marriages.

70% of Blacks voted against it... Obama said he isn't for gay marriage, so they did what they felt he would do.  Since so many more blacks voted this year, it kept it from passing many say.  I don't know.  Kind of Ironic the Blacks would be against it though.

Obama believes marriage is between man and woman, BUT he said he would have voted against prop 8.      In other words, he realizes if gay people want to get married, it doesn't really effect his life in any way at all.

When you really break it down, does it really matter?  Is it anyone's business?

Not to sound like a broken record, but there are millions of sick, starving  men, women & children all over our own country (USA) let alone the planet.  The economy is in chaos, people are losing their homes to greedy, irresponsible banks, and whether or not Tom likes to stick his dick into Jane or John should never be a legitimate issue when you think of all the REAL ISSUES there are to work out!!!! 

Mind you I am a married man to woman and we have 3 children.  Teach tolerance, not bigotry, hatred, and judgement.

I am not against it goof!  Ha, I like Slash and his position, I was saying those were the numbers from the exit poll....  Many say it was their vote that kept it from passing...

Exactly!!  You said it more graphically than what I would have, but it's a nonissue.   

That video was great, and Pearla is a lot cuter than I had originally thought!  She has a pretty face.  Fun clip!
