younggunner - depends on what you consider far.  MSG is on 34th, on the west side (7th ave).  The listening party is on the east side, on 11th between 3rd and 4th.  It's probably about a 20 -30 minute walk from the Garden.

This might be a bit of a silly/obvious question, but in this case, does "receipt" of your purchase mean the "Confirmation of your order" e-mail received after pre-ordering the album on BestBuy.com?

It says in the e-mail I got confirming my order from best buy:

This is not a receipt. Check your order status to view and print a receipt.

Edit: okay, again, I might be missing the obvious here, but when I login, I can view my order.  I don't see any options or text that explicitly say "this is a receipt" or somehow identify the order view as a receipt.  I'm assuming I should just print the order view page, but, I thought I'd double check to be sure in case anyone else knows more.

I was a little bit  curious myself. It doesn't specifically say it's a receipt when you log in and view the order, but it sure looks like one. I don't imagine it could be anything else - just to be safe though, I printed that and my e-mail from them.

Wow, sounds like an awesome time.  I'm curious why nothing is done for us Canadian fans.  Toronto is the 5th largest city in North America and have always treated GNR rather well.  Between the listening parties and UK's biggest fan I'm somewhat envious that there's nothing for Canadian gunners.  I suppose the fact that we can buy the album on the 23rd anywhere is somewhat of a prize.

Anyway, hope all who go from this board gets a t-shirt.

Anyone been to the (Boston) Clinton St. Hard Rock?  How big?  The old place by Fenway wasn't that big, and I would certainly have to say it could not hold an event this big, without hurting a LOT of feelings.  It would suck to drive 3 hours to get left standing on the sidewalk.

I work in NYC but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make it that night.  For those of you going enjoy...what a great way to experience listening to the full album for the first time.  And someone has to post a pic of the tshirt please.

I think I am going to try attending the Boston event.

However, it would be difficult to bring a RECEIPT from my order if Best Buy does not charge my credit card until the CD and vinyl is in stock. This means they'd have to be in-store by Wednesday, 11/19. I guess I will try to print a receipt next Wednesday, but if I can't, I'll take my printout of the preorder.

Another thing that concerns me is that if there's a lot of promotion for this event, a bunch of assholes will preorder the record just to get into the building and get the free t-shirt. Then they'll either cancel the order or return the CD. I will beat up any motherfucker who tries to do this. This show is for the hardcore fans who deserve to hear the CD before some Joe Blow off the street.

For the people going to the NYC one, I will be going too but be forewarned.. I had KROCK on today and someone called in saying he went to the place TODAY with a sleeping bag to try to camp out but was told to get lost and come back monday morning at 8am. So I'm anticipating huge lines, but I hope I can get front line access cuz i have my pre-order receipt printed out  ;D

I can't imagine there is a dress code for a CD listening party.  I expect most will be dressed like you!

I've never been to one, but I would suspect that GNR Concert apparel would be appropriate. I know I'll be wearing any number of things I bought from the merch counter the last 2 times I saw them.

I hope a band member or two show up at the Boston event... after all Boston plays lots of GNR during our sporting events (Patriots, Celtics) and WAAF played Chinese Democracy the day it was released more than any other station in the country

Well the biggest difference is the listening parties are PRE-release.  This one is obviously AFTER the release.  A party is a party though, and anytime is a good time to listen to Chinese Democracy.  So, rock on!

Back from NYC listening, WOW, hearing the album as meant, incredible, Ron was so cool, talking to everyone, signing stuff. TAlking MEtal guys as always awesome. Not sure how it will go other places, but if you pre-ordered multiple copies of the album, you could bring other people and they can get tees also. THats  what they did here.IF you can go to one, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!m rockng the tee now.Also guys from Dr.Pepper came through the line and gave a coupon for free 6 pack of DR.Pepper!

The NYC Listening Party was beyond incredible.

Saw the Talking Metal Guys, Bumblefoot.

Was a great time.

Oh yeah they played a record while we were there.

It was, um, AMAZING!

Literally, I can not describe how much better the final, mastered versions of songs are. Completely blew me away. I'm still sort of in shock that I just heard Chinese Democracy!

The crowd was great, it was packed, Ron was wonderful, he must have signed autographs for a full hour if not more.

I strongly recommend that if you have one of these events near you, go!

Sounds like a good time.  Wish I could have been there tonight.  What was the scene like, were people listening to the music intently or were most people mingling while the music was played in the background?  And how's the tshirt?

Everyone for the most part was listening pretty intently, and rocking out. It was a lot like being at a concert, but without the actual band. I didn't really see much mingling at all. The crowd was great on the line, everyone was in good spirits and it was a great group of people who turned out.

Yea alot of ppl takin pics and vids, yet one of the guys who worked there came up to me when I was on my phone and asked me if I was recording ( I was takin a 30 sec vid clip) and I told him no just takin a pic and he let me be.

I was all set to go to Webster Hall, had my Bumble mini replica all ready for him to sign, but my friend's truck broke down in Port Washington here on Long Island on the way to pick me up,.  Alas, it was not to be.

just came back from the listening party in new york. it was cool. ron signed my poster! very humble and nice guy. musically lots of things changed on cd: especially "catcher" and "if the world" are very different. even "street of dreams". maybe not the best record ever made, but a great one.  : ok:

i went to the NYC listening party.

I stood 2 feet in front of the speakers with my arms crossed and eyes closed blocking out everything but the music. There were NO weak tracks. every single one was SPOT ON!

almost everybody was singing along to the songs, dancing and letting go! it was not too packed but pretty full and the mood was alright. first notes of cd were really physical. you could feel them in your belly. then the riff started and off they went... wow. riad and irs surprised me. sorry was very cool. this i love is more than beautiful. scraped (besides "better") comes closest to old gnr-rockers in my opinion during the verses. standouts: better, catcher, twat, til, scraped and - yes from my mouth - irs.  ;)   and prostitute for sure...

Guns N' Roses fans in and around Berlin are in for a treat Nov. 21 courtesy of the Bloodhound Gang's Evil Jared.

The band's notoriously rowdy bass player will host a listening party in the German capital aboard his newly overhauled Berlin Party Bus to introduce Europe to the long-awaited GNR album, Chinese Democracy.

The shindig is scheduled take place in the lot at West Coast Customs, the company responsible for retooling the bus.

Attendees will not only be the first Europeans to hear the new GNR release but will get the chance to buy the disc at the stroke of midnight, according to a statement from the band.

I was just at the listening pary in Minnesota and the album kicks ass.  I've heard alot of the leaks over the years, but to actually hear it live was awesome.

I was there as well.  It was awesome.  It was great meeting JuicySwoop and world war from HTGTH.   Everyone seemed to have a great time, and every song was cheered for afterwards!

The free beer and free food was also delicious.  : ok:

I was interviewed by the Star Tribune at the end of the show, and I saw a KSTP (ABC) channel 5 reporter around, filming the line to get into the venue.

All in all, a very fun night, and the music and album were mindblowingly good!  Even my special ladyfriend said she liked it a lot, and she is not a heavy metal / hard rock fan.

Hopefully the star trib includes your interview tommrow.  KSTP did include the event at 10pm broadcast ......  but my interview was not included....

your friend is smokin by the way.

Oh, and for those who have yet to to go. If you pre-ordered more than one album, tell them and ask for as many t-shirts.  I went home with 8 of them tonight!

I'm probably the only person here who could go to one (boston) and decided not to go. Call me old fashioned, but I feel like my first listen should be at home, looking through the booklet etc.

I am in the same boat regarding wanting to listen to it alone.  I have a basketball game I suppose to play in tonight that I am skipping as well.  But I keep reminding myself that this is never going to happen again.  Thereby, you should join me and go.

Haha yeah I sneaked in that post... Not supposed to use cell phones during the party (whatever).  The album was great!  I only heard Chinese Democracy (via the pre-sale) and whatever GNR played in NYC two years ago.  Very much looking forward to Sunday.

I just returned from the Boston listening party.

I managed to get two of the t-shirts Best Buy was handing out (though one of them is too small, I guess my fifteen year old son gets it), plus a WAAF tee, since they were promoting it as well. Some really hot chick in a miniskirt was on the Hard Rock stage, wasted out of her skull. Eventually, she and her equally drunk/stoned brother were escorted out. Aside from that, the crowd was enthusiastic yet well behaved.

Oh yeah, they played the CD, too. It's pretty good  ;D

Best songs after one listening, IMO, are "Street Of Dreams", "There Was A Time", "Scraped", "Riad N' The Bedouins", and "Prostitute".

I was at the Minneapolis party and wanted to say that I'm really impressed with how all the songs turned out.  It turns out there's no better way to listen to a truly fantastic album than hearing it cranked up in a club with a few ice cold High Lifes.  It was cool meeting some other people that are as excited for this album as I am (and know so much about the band -- I bet the guy who sat by me has to be on this board somewhere). 
"Street of Dreams" was my favorite song, that song has grown quite a bit since I heard it live at the Target Center a few years ago.

I figure now that the album is finally coming out, it would be cool to finally sign up for this message board and see what all the buzz is about.

I just won a competition to go to Triple M's (local rock station) listening party in Melbourne tomorrow!!!

Boston listening party was great. Free coconut shrimp, mushroom keesh wraps, chicken tenders, quesadillas, crab rangoons, and mini egg rolls. T-Shirts were great, music was great.

And I managed to jump on stage...hahaha

Went to the SF party last night.  Let's see - really easy parking right by the place - not an easy feat in that area.  No line at all - walked right in - plenty of shirts/posters/stickers.  They're all the same as the other US events.  Really expensive drinks - not surprising.  Some problems - before they "officially" played the album, they must have played the CD single at least 10 times.  Normally not the end of the world except for the fact that it's the first song on the album so when they do start "officially" playing it people are gonna be tired of the song.  I tried to get the DJ to play other stuff.  No luck.  I asked the radio station folks and they said it's playing over and over cause it's the single.  I informed them that Better was also a single but they are very ignorant.  The album was great, but when This I Love ended and Prostitute started a guy from the radio station got on the mike and started to thank people for coming until fans had to tell him that it wasn't over.  No band members (that I saw anyway).  When Prostitute ended the guy got back on the mike and gave his speech and when he was done I shouted "Fuck Bestbuy" which he didn't seem to agree with.  I would have to say other cities were better but I still had a good time overall. 

I was pleased with the listening party concept. A cool event for the Guns N Roses fans!

There were all age groups at the Boston event. And everyone was digging the music.

Now let's watch the album sell like hotcakes...  :peace:
