I totally concur about having a hard time believing this is really happening.  So many things have happened in our lives since GNR's last album and we've been through so many rumoured releases.  This sounds lame but with this release a new chapter in my life has begun.  I have been out of FM radio for the last 13 years listening to AM sports talk.

I agree.

The version on the site sounds "bulked up".  The drums have a LOT more punch (especially in the begining part), and the guitars sound cleaner and the bass really kicks.  It's much more visceral...you know?  Even the vocals seem to have more punch.

Probably because its a higher quality stream. Radio streams distort the sound some..i know the stream on my local radio station doesnt sound all that great when it comes to sound quality for the music they play.

OMG the day is finally here!!!  This is amazing to finally have an official press release.  How many years have we been waiting for that website to just have those words?

The final version of Chinese Democracy is amazing, it makes you wonder how much the other songs have changed, especially ones like "Catcher".

That was my thought too...but I wasn't sure if bandwidth alone could explain the differences.  I know that compression DOES have a big effect on base....but I'm no expert.  Could that explain it 100%?  I mean you can practically FEEL the hate dripping off the vocals in the version on the site...especially during the chorus.  It has a really HUGE impact on the song, IMHO.

Jarmo, how is it going to feel when you update the new album page? To have that page up since 1997 and to finally have solid info on the new album. A release date, track-listing....its crazy aint't it?..I first came across that page in 2002..and six years later it is going to be wierd to be reading solid info.  :smoking:

Well, as a Dad of 3....the release of CD is amazing, wonderful, long time coming event that has me ecstatic.

But NOTHING compares to the days on which my 3 kids were born.  Nothing.

And like I have with much of the GnR catalog...songs like Jungle, Sweet Child o Mine, and others...I look forward to sharing this with them much the way my Mom shared her love of the Beatles with me.

What an amazing day....I got into my car around 11:40 a.m. this morning to pick up my fiancee for lunch and flipped on the local modern rock station here in Southwest Florida, just hoping that 'Chinese Democracy' would be played during the 20-minute drive I had to pick her up. The DJ comes on and says he's got a big surprise for everybody for 'The Nooner' and I knew right away what it was. When it started playing, a pure rush of adrenaline and euphoria came over me, much like the first time I saw the 'You Could Be Mine' video oh so many years ago but times that by 100 since we've been waiting so long. One more month and we'll have the album in our hands...Wonderful day!

It almost seems like Black Frog is licensing the album to Geffen for release - for instance, Alice Cooper's recent album was credited to Nightmare Inc. (Alice's company) and SPV (the label who put the album out), and Alice owns the masters. I wonder if thats the case here. Still, who cares - we're getting the album at last, no matter who owns the music.

I hope the album gets judged against the music thats out today because if it does CD will blow away the competition.  If it gets compared against AFD, which it inevitably will, then it can't win in the media.  Kind of like how Obama keeps blaming everyones problems on the Bush Administration  (the past) and correlates it (to the present) McCain.  Modern Music (Obama) doesn't compare to incoming, proven ways of working every possible aspect (Chinese Democracy, McCain).  Chinese Democracy is a work of art that has something for everyone.

Fucking countdown is epic.  I feel like I did when I ordered the Hammerstein tickets.  Will Best Buys be packed on the 23rd ?  Now when I went to the Hammerstein show, I got on line around 3:30, and they were about 100 people in from of me.  I can't imagine BB being that crazy, so if it opens at 11, would 10 be a safe bet ?

It's so interesting. Guns N Roses will be changed forever, the way you look at the band will be so different 3-4 years ago especially if 2-3 more CD's come out after this.

We are probably going to get a lot of negativity on the forums from guys who were fans of GNR because of Slash. At the same time there will be new GNR fans born in their teens that come here for the NEW songs.

Well, here we are guys. They doubted it until the last minute but this is the dawn.

I have goosebumps all day since I've read the press release early today.

What a long and crazy journey it has been over the years. You're all just names on a screen, but I think we've shared something very special over the years together.

Music is a important part of life. For me, it has been a support through bad and good times.

This album means more to me than just an album, or even THE GNR album.

I hate to use it on spiritual proportions, but this album represents the coming of a musical revelation to me.

It's been great sharing this with you guys over the years, but we're here.

I've had my doubts over the years but I always believed that the right time we would see it. But even now, it is surreal to just contemplate that it's here.

We are lucky to be alive to experience this together.

Anybody who doesn't accept it, that's just too fucking bad. Negative reviews doesn't change shit. It's our album. They can fuck off.

Axl's production is nothing short of magical. Its amazing! The sounds he got are really great!

It's just interesting though, what if the album becomes a hit, the band has great tours and 2 more 0r 3 more albums come out and they are hits. It would almost be as if GNR was re-created.

Yeah, it seems weird that the new band has been together longer than the old band. The original line up was together for roughly 9 -10 years, and the new line up is 10 - 12 years, those guys already have a long past together. Footage of their past (tours, studio time, etc.) will make for some great videos! It will be clear to all that they are a "real" band that has a past together. We keep calling it the "new" Gnr, but they've already been bonding as a band for over a decade (at least the core). Anyway, when the DVDs, documentaries, and videos hit, they will show the decade "past" that they have together, we will see their rapport and "family bond," similar to how the old band's "closeness' came through in Paradise City and November Rain.

My kids are 5, 4, and 2...respectively.  So..."into"...maybe not so much.  Hanna Montanna (oldest daughter), Dora (youngest daughter), and Spiderman (my son, the middle child) are what they're "into".

But GnR (the stuff I deem age appropriate for them, at this point) has been playing around the house since they were born...well, long before that really.  They ASK us to play some GnR in the car on a regular basis.  I have a "mix CD" of age appropriate GnR (and there's more than you would think) that we listen to pretty frequently.  They grab their toy instruments (guitar, drums, mic) and "play along".  It's REALLY cute.

Yesterday, when I was in my office and fired up the stream of CD off the gunsnroses.com website, my youngest started dancing around (she was in the living room, UPSTAIRS from my office) singing "rock and roll".  My oldest started telling my wife she wanted to hear the "Axl Rose" daddy was listening to.

I can't be bothered doing the math but I'm just wondering if these countdown clocks take into consideration that (here in the USA) daylight savings time ends on November 2 so the clocks "fall back" an hour ..... at 2am the time officially becomes 1am.  :confused:

Guns N' Roses have released details of their long-awaited Chinese Democracy album.

The LP, which had been in production for 14 years, will be released on November 24 in the UK.

The title track was aired for the first time on Radio 1 yesterday morning and has received a mixed response from online forums.

Also will the vinyl version be available in stores at Best Buy? My back up plan is to ask a US colleague to buy it for me.

From what I've read, it looks like the vinyl version will be out in at least some European countries as well.

I'm assuming they'll do the same in the UK.

there is a guy on ebay (uk) who is selling pe-orders for the vinyl for ?16, he has 30 of them. i emailed him to ask if they were imports and he said no they were straight from the supplier...........

from the supplier and they are pre-orders so he hasnt actually got them in hand, he has placed his order and made a reservation for them to be delivered before release

Chinese Democracy is everything you've been waiting so patiently for -- and a lot more.

Here's a full track description:

"Chinese Democracy" opens things up on a theatrical note. Right away you realize that frontman and GN'R mastermind Axl Rose has never sounded better. Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal's guitar solo is another highlight of the title track. "Better" couldn't be better, with a five-pronged guitar attack setting off explosions while a hard beat crunches away. Tommy Stinson's bass line provides the backbone of the rhythm. "Street Of Dreams" comes next, the beautiful song that you might recognize during GN'R's 2006 tour, introduced as "The Blues."

The fifth track, "If The World," is a classic funk-rock song with Middle Eastern elements and liquid bass playing from synth man and programmer ?- and track co-writer ?- Chris Pitman. There Was A Time" "Broken glass and cigarettes, writing on the wall/It was a bargain for the summer and I thought I had it all," Axl sings before this instant classic crescendos into the powerful chorus. Other highlights include Dizzy Reed, Pitman and Axl's synth orchestra, which gives the song a movie feel.

A gorgeous instrumental intro featuring piano, bass and Axl's signature wails begins the album's next track, "Catcher In The Rye". "Scraped" features Axl all over the register, with layers and layers of vocal tracks piledt on top of each other while a sinister guitar riff shoots through the chorus: "Don't you try to stop us now/'cause I just won't let you." Meanwhile, "Sorry" is a kick-back track with acoustic guitar but with Axl-penned lyrics that bite: "You don't know why I won't give in," he says. "To hell with the pressure, I'm not caving in."

Track No. 9, "Riad N' The Bedouins" has Axl giving his all to the vocal over a complex, multi-layered guitar rhythm. The instrumental bridge segues from strings to a Bumblefoot solo assault. An electronic drum loop leads right into the next song, "I.R.S.", which contains some of Axl's most inner-reaching lyrical content on the album. Track No. 12, "Madagascar," features accltaimed orchestral arranger Paul Buckmaster and emotional samples from history, including two speeches by Martin Luther King Jr., the films "Mississippi Burning" and "Cool Hand Luke."

"This I Love" starts with only Axl's voice and piano playing, and it's the only song on the album solely written by Axl. "Prostitute" brings things to a close, with Axl saying, "It's not a question of whether my heart is true."

Chinese Democracy is a truly epic project, GNR's first studio release since 1993's The Spaghetti Incident?.

Retail chain Best Buy is the exclusive outlet for the CD and vinyl album in the United States. The album is also available via the iTunes Store.

And they flipped Sorry and Rhiad...saying there's a drum loop at the end of Rhiad that jumps directly into IRS.  Must have been an earlier tracklisting?
