Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Thorned Rose on October 20, 2008, 01:50:03 PM Yeah, D is a betting fool.
I'm making a bet that it will debut #1 for sure Give Rock music some respect and credibility. I'm tired of hip hop dominating the charts... makes me sick. Chinese Democracy - #1 and I bet it stays there 3 weeks straight. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Gritty on October 20, 2008, 01:50:21 PM Wouldn't surprise me at all, but I'm broke.

Post by: Howard2k on October 20, 2008, 01:51:42 PM I don't believe it will stay at #1 for more than 1 week.
Even if it debuts there (which I'm not 100% of), it'll drop down reasonably fast I imagine. But time will tell. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: JuicySwoos on October 20, 2008, 01:53:51 PM well I will do my part to make it number #1.
Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: BodyCount on October 20, 2008, 02:33:55 PM It will be #1 in ALL countries that lack releases of REAL music....
So in that aspect i guess it will be #1 worldwide :hihi: Seriously, i truly am glad for GNR and specially glad for Axl, just imagine the burden of years and years of anticipation , frustration and dissapointment being lifted from their shoulders... Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: veritas55 on October 20, 2008, 02:37:38 PM I think it will sell close to 1 million copies the first week -- it will be HUGE that first week because of Best Buy's past success in really moving units that first week (remember the Eagles sold over 700,000 units of a double CD through Wal-Mart, a similar Azoff arrangement).
How much more it sells will depend on reviews, radio, chart success, etc. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: estebanf on October 20, 2008, 02:38:39 PM I'm betting ''Chinese Democracy'' will be the first single.
Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Pine Barrens on October 20, 2008, 03:08:47 PM I am betting that someone over at Dr. Pepper's just got fired for being responsible for a substantial loss of profits. ;)

Post by: divoz on October 20, 2008, 04:08:30 PM I am betting on the next tour when i see them they play Locomotive and ask me to come and sing it with Axl, afterwards offering me a spot as back up singer for the band paying me a lump some that will set me for life.

It would be like a natural disaster or a crime against humanity to shave off these gorgeous locks! :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: I don't jog, I run............. wanna see my medal to prove it? :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: GunnerOne 84 on October 20, 2008, 07:18:07 PM I'd make a bet of some sort. I'm certain Kanye West will debut at number 1 that week. Although this is one bet I'd hope to lose.
Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: w.axl.rose on October 20, 2008, 07:20:12 PM Ok, I didn't shave my head when the album didnt come out but have u seen my hair? Post by: Axl4Prez2004 on October 20, 2008, 07:56:10 PM Something tells me Axl will push for CD as the first single...personally, I'd be lobbying for Better. But then again, we haven't heard the final tracks. (nor do I want to with the album so close at hand) It's GNR, who the hell knows what's gonna happen! 8)
btw, isn't "Welsh" when used in that manner a pejorative term? Aren't there any folks from Wales here?? ;D Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: D on October 20, 2008, 08:30:11 PM I didn't make a bet on "chuck Liddell" though
I did bet someone that I'd shave my head, but fuck that, seriously. I had a friend shave his head once and the shit never grew back. The Chuck Liddell thing was Hyperbole, just showing what a monumental upset it would be for him to lose. Deleting my account is as monumental of a statement I could make to show the unlikeliness. I didn't bet with another poster and say, Ok if Chuck wins u delete yours, if Rashad wins I'll delete mine. That is a bet. I just made an overexaggerated statement. big difference! Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: IKnowWhereIAM on October 20, 2008, 08:37:04 PM I didn't make a bet on "chuck Liddell" though I bet shaving your head completely would be preferable to Finck's 'whatever' (obviously doesn't affect his guitar skills)...I have shaved completely several times, always grows back, don't get cute and try to NAIR it though...oh, and people look f'n wierd without eyebrows. :hihi:I did bet someone that I'd shave my head, but fuck that, seriously. I'm glad someone agrees with me. C.D. is going to gobble the charts! Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: PJ on October 20, 2008, 10:20:43 PM CD will stay maximum one week in number 1
because even if we hate her.. britney is realasing her CD next week.. and it is her BIG comeback.. she has a HUGE fanbase and is already being promoted and raping the lists in the radio :crying: Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Eazy E on October 20, 2008, 11:47:09 PM I'd make a bet of some sort. I'm certain Kanye West will debut at number 1 that week. Although this is one bet I'd hope to lose. When Kanye & 50 Cent had their "1st week sales" battle last year: Graduation's first week sales of 957,000 and Curtis' first week sales of 691,000 meant that the competition resulted in only the second time ever (since Nielsen SoundScan began collecting data in 1991) that two albums sold more than 600,000 in a week in the United States. The first occurrence of such an event was in 1991, when Guns N' Roses released Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, selling 685,000 and 770,000 copies, respectively. So... in order to debut at #1... GN'R would not only have to beat Kanye's first week, but most likely beat the first week totals of UYI 1 & 2. Personally, I think the people calling for a million in the first week are out of their minds! It should be fun to watch. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Axl and Kanye will not have that problem. That being said, neither is going to sell 1 million first week, and I still say Kanye sells more. Chinese Democracy will be no flop though. I'd bet that over the long haul CD does very well. I'd love to be wrong here, that's just how I see it. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Its definetly going to be interesting. :smoking: Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: tat2d1 on October 21, 2008, 01:59:04 AM What else comes out the week of 11-25? Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: GunnerOne 84 on October 21, 2008, 02:12:50 AM I believe Kanye West, The Killers, Chris Cornell, and Scott Weiland have releases that day.
Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: tat2d1 on October 21, 2008, 02:18:10 AM The only one of those I see giving GnR any real competition is Kayne. Even then, worst case scenario, CD debuts at #2. Again though, if it's released on the 23rd, then those extra 2 days may be enough to land it at #1.
Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: jazjme on October 21, 2008, 03:22:18 AM I think Kenye will be buying CD!
Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Lord Kayoss on October 21, 2008, 04:21:55 AM I can definitely see a #1 debut. But with such a mid-tempo tracklist and not enough head-banging rocker tunes I believe it will quickly run out of steam. Of course us Axl cultists are gonna eat the album up and preach it's musical brilliance, but aside from a few tracks we haven't heard yet there's not gonna be enough there to keep the casual fan entertained.
Most people who aren't crazy about sappy ballads will tolerate them as long as there's plenty of hard rockers kicking their asses in between, like UYI. Seems like CD is top-heavy in the sap department. Very slow-tempo, melodic tunes and not enough hard rocking punch. But, we'll see. I'm just happy CITR is gonna be on there. Personally, I would've been very disappointed with CD if it hadn't made the cut. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Ignatius on October 21, 2008, 06:10:42 PM Regardless having tough competition there, Guns will debut at #1. There isn't any other way. This is probably the biggest album - prior to its release - ever in the history of music. There's just too much hype around CD. I can't really tell how many copies will sell, but if I have to make a guess, it'll probably be around 600,000 - 700,000 first week sales. Music industry has changed and although there are some artist who still can pull up big numbers just like Guns or Pearl Jam with Vs in 93, a huge album today sales 2 million copies where 15 years ago we would be talking 8 million. Having said that, I still believe GUNS will outsell Kayne and everyone else. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Splash on October 21, 2008, 06:13:04 PM I think it'll debut at #1 here in the UK.. and for the love of God, i really hope it knocks the travesty to music that is hip hop from its spot as the main music genre on the radio

Topping Kanye is going to be a tough one. But who knows...with enough money behind it CD might surprise a lot of people. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet? Post by: Eazy E on October 21, 2008, 10:18:38 PM You know, I wouldn't really care that much if they debuted at #1 in a dead week... but if GN'R has enough momentum for their first week to be a "sales battle" for number 1 with Kanye? You can't really ask for anything better...
Obviously it's not the same as last year with 50 cent because they were both in the same genre, but there was a lot of promotion / press surrounding the albums as a result. That would only help Chinese Democracy. Title: Re: Who wants to make a bet?
