Which is the better show?

I?m going to have to go with SP. I love FG (despite all the criticism it receives from the SP guys) but South Park is just so consistently hilarious. Its been on for ten years, and it?s only getting better and better.

SP hands down, FG is still funny, but u can't beat SP

I used to watch south park, but lost interest several years ago.

The thing I love about FG is the jokes come at you a mile a minute, and most of them are pretty good. But I'd say SP is, overall, more funny.

South Park...although I also enjoy family guy....FG sometimes has no rhyme or reason to it....sort of an "insert joke here" method of doing things...SP is a better crafted show....

While I do enjoy both...South Park kicks Family Guys ass.

Yeah Family Guy just kinda hits and misses where as for the most part........South Park is hilarious.

I love both shows for different reasons.

Family Guys is hilarious because of its odd moronic humor. The things that happen are so different than what you would expect. As someone else said, the jokes come at you at a mile a minute from all different types of situations. And I love it because of that.

To me, South Park is hilarious because of its satire. It's best episodes are when they take real world situations and blow them way out of proportion. Their hilarious commentary on current events and social issues is superb. And the odd ball episode based on entertainment like world of warcraft is done exceptionally well. The show has a different style than other animated programs like the simpsons or family guy and I love it because of that.  :smoking:

south park.  been watching it forever.  ive really started watching family guy alot though, ever since they started showing it on TBS.  but at the end of the day south park is better, though last season fuckin sucked :-\

Never watched Family Guy so I'll say South Park : ok:

I'll go family guy. Just consistantly funny and Original.

South Park is funny but i feel it gets weaker every season now. Although 10 years is impressive.

I would have to say the opposite. family guy got old at about season 4, south park just keeps getting better in my opinion

^the earlier episodes to me are kinda dull , but the more current ones are hilarious imo

Both are excellent, but my vote goes to Family Guy.

This isn't even a contest.  South Park destroys family guy.

Family guy doesn't make sense some times. With South park, at least they tell a story and don't throw really stupid crap in there that doesn't belong. And there are always subtle jokes in South Park that you have to pay close attention to which Family guys is really obvious. Family guy goes way off the reservation IMO.

South Park is still king in my books. Hands down.

It's a really tough question since the shows are so different... In Monty Python kind of way SP has nothing on FG, but when we're talking about scripted politically critical comedy it's SP (apart from last season). I really enjoy them both..

Does anyone know when the new season starts? Probably have to check out the south park thread.

Only recently discovered FG, and it's funny as hell, but has a long road to insult/poke fun at everyone SP has touched - hell, SP even nailed FG - the manatee writers.  My favorite SP episode:  Santa captured by Sadam Hussein, Jesus to the rescue!  How high these writers must be...

Family Guy

Definitely Family Guy.

South Park, but it's a close call.

South park owns Family Guy.  Family Guy is just the lamest show, and that episode of SP where they mock it couldn't be more true.  Although south park I think has been going downhill since season 8, there has been some good episodes though like the Batdad one!

I hate Family Guy. It's the most unfunny, lame ass crap since the new Simpsons.

South Park started out great, but it's been hit-and-miss the last three seasons. When does the new South Park start again?

The Simpsons is head and shoulders above both shows.  South Park and Family Guy both have such a heavy reliance on vulgarity, crudeness and being blunt about things... which I am cool with and I watch these shows all the time, but when the Simpsons is ON, it is way more creative than either show could ever hope to be.  All three shows are fairly hit-or-miss these days, The Simpsons just gets ragged on the hardest because it was non-stop hits for 10 seasons.

I know this isn't what the thread is about... but seriously, South Park and Family Guy, come back when you have a brain cell to call your own....

Prime for Prime - Family Guy - they killed the show at the height of its hilarity and when they brought it back, a lot of the writers had moved on.  The new episodes are occasionally great but overall aren't even close to the first 3 seasons

Longevity - South Park, Stone and Parker have been there forever and have been the main forces behind the show, and even though they have some stinkers they're still more consistent than FG overall

But Family Guy at its' peak was the most hilarious TV show I've ever witnessed

The Simpsons at its peak combined the best of both shows:  consistently hilarious.  But since about 2000 the show has pretty much sucked with occasional exceptions

south park movie was better.

would have made a 'good' 1/2 hour episode.  SP movie was like Gone with the Wind, Empire Strikes Back, Up in Smoke, and Debbie does Dallas all rolled into one - and smoked.  An epic for the ages.

I thought the Star Wars parody was great...but Imaginationland was better.

I thought it was great... The South Park movie probably edges it out a bit, but they are both quality.

Yeah that movie was awesome. I still play the soundtrack occasionally  8). Simpsons Movie was also good a lot of references to the past episodes and was way funnier than an average episodes from last seasons have been.

I liked The Simpsons movie. The quality doesn't match some of the earlier seasons. Its seemed it matched the best bits in the last 8 seasons or so. The Simpsons overall have not been that good the last 8 years or so but there were occasional great bits that were just hysterical. And the movie seemed to be in the same league as those bits, just not nearly as good as the earlier stuff.  :smoking:

South Park is better than Family Guy, but the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons are better than both.

P.S. For the record - SP is genius. same thing can't be said about a lot of the shit on TV.

The new FG yesterday with Jesus was great. The show still hasn't run out of steam (but neither has SP).

Really?  I've enjoyed a lot of new Family Guy episodes, but I thought last night's episode was brutal. 

Sometimes I think they write an episode and then fill it up to the appropriate 20 minutes by extending the jokes that are supposed to be funny via repetition. 

"Hey, we've only got 17 minutes of a show here!"
"So, let's make Peter sing 'Bird is the word' another 20 times!"

If the bit is funny I can stand it, last night I wanted to switch off in the middle.  I'm going to watch the new Simpsons episode now, I suspect they will be superior two weeks in a row.

I've been watching this show pretty much every night and gotta say--I think this one takes the prize. The Simpsons in its prime was funny, but never as funny as Family Guy, same goes for SP.

south park is good too, but you just can't beat the insane hilarious stupidity and snappyness of FG.

i love both shows, but south park is better. plus, i believe there wouldn't be a family guy if south park hadn't paved the way. and before that....beevis and butthead, the simpsons and ren and stimpy.
