Title: ISP Monitoring d/loads Post by: maccladd on July 29, 2008, 07:58:44 AM I dont know the state of play elsewhere in the world, but here in the UK, six of the main ISPs have signed up to monitor what we are downloading and send us warning letters etc. I mainly d/load unnofficial rock music dvds, will this kind of thing be affected or are they looking more for officially released cds/ movies etc.
If so, it maybe time to move to one of the ISPs who havent signed up. Any ideas? Title: Re: ISP Monitoring d/loads Post by: freedom78 on July 30, 2008, 01:37:38 PM Ahh. Corporations helping to protect other corporations, so the whole "rich get richer" rug isn't pulled out from beneath them.
Nice to know they have no respect for you privacy. Title: Re: ISP Monitoring d/loads Post by: Howard2k on July 30, 2008, 04:41:39 PM Don't bother linking to anything to back up your story or provide further background detail.

I just don't like the fact people have been getting away with stealing others' intellectual property. :peace:

I just don't like the fact people have been getting away with stealing others' intellectual property. :peace: While I would love to see the music industry crash and burn, that's not where my objection lies. They've convinced companies that people are PAYING FOR SERVICE to SPY on those same customers. Now, not living in the UK, I've no idea whether this is illegal in the sense that I would argue it is in the US. But it's certainly objectionable to my sense of privacy, whether done in the UK, US, or North Korea.
