Title: Motorcycle Diaries Post by: Smoking Guns on July 27, 2008, 07:39:58 PM What an AMAZING movie/film. Its about 2 friends, one a doctor, one a biochemist from Argentina that want to see their continent in 1952. They want to go to tip of Venezuela. One of the me was Che Guevero (SP), the famous revolutionist. The movie is freaking awesome. So moving. So real. So funny. I really want to learn more about this man. It said the CIA helped kill him in 1967. I think he was in Cuba. Anyway, he was of European decent and him and his friend go on a long journey seeing the poorest of the poor and the very wealthy and it changed their lives for ever. I was moved by the movie. I laughed, I wanted to cry. It was great. There were several funny scenes. You have to read the text if you aren't Spanish. I don't mind that. They were on a 1939 Triumph Motorcycle. The damn thing was a piece of poop. It was very comical at times. Its based of Edgar, Che's, diaries. I need to learn more about him. My Mexican friend tells me about him often. About the Revolution.
Anyway, check it out if you haven't seen it. Motorcycle Diaries. Title: Re: Motorcycle Diaries Post by: freedom78 on July 27, 2008, 10:51:05 PM Yeah, I saw it a couple years back. Good flick. Che's an interesting fellow. Kind of a brutal idealist, if that makes sense.

Title: Re: Motorcycle Diaries Post by: loretian on July 28, 2008, 12:45:35 PM The movie is good and well made. The problem is that it often confuses people into believing Che was a good man. Though his goals may have been good, he (and his cohorts) killed many innocent people and did many horrible thing. Keep that in mind as you do your research on him.
Some people mistakenly seek to glorify him. There are other heros we can find in our times that did not commit such horrible acts of evil. Pop culture Che and real life Che were very different. Like I said...a brutal idealist, willing to go to extremes for his beliefs. After the movie I saw, I thought he was a good guy too. He must have changed a lot. They seemed like 2 great guys, 2 great friends.
