Title: Difference between American Fender and Mexican Fender? Post by: D on July 26, 2008, 10:38:02 AM I am in Guitar Center and I played the most awesome Fender Telecaster.
It is made in Mexico and cheaper than the US version. Does anyone know the difference as far as quality is concerned etc? Title: Re: Difference between American Fender and Mexican Fender? Post by: loretian on July 26, 2008, 12:55:44 PM From what I understand, unlike Gibson/Epiphone, the only difference between American and Mexican Fenders is the country in which the guitar is built. The same parts are shipped to different countries, and different builders actually build the guitar. With Gibson/Epiphone, I believe the actual parts come from different sources depending on the country.
That's what a rep at Guitar Center told me, anyway. : ok: Title: Re: Difference between American Fender and Mexican Fender? Post by: D on July 26, 2008, 06:52:52 PM Ive been lookin to get a new guitar. I've had the same one for 13 years.
I know Epiphones are pretty shitty, I got one and I never play it cause I hate it so much. This Fender Telecaster I played, the neck fiirst of all is amazing and I love the tone and I could really fly up and down the fretboard. The American bridge usually has six individual saddles instead of three that two strings share. Pick-ups are different too. Better tuning pegs on the American also.
Title: Re: Difference between American Fender and Mexican Fender? Post by: JimBobTTD on July 27, 2008, 03:23:32 PM Different hardware on them, as Mr Rattlesnake stated. The bodies themselves are different too - I may be wrong, but I believe that the bodies are finished in their own factories, with the USA Fenders getting a little bit more care and attention. The US Fender will keep its value far better than the Mexico. Whether any of that is important is up to you. As you said, you played "the most awesome Fender Telecaster"...on that alone, I'd say get it.

I would definitely do adjustments, add some SD pickups or something, I really love the tone, neck and fretboard. Is anyone else like me when it comes to guitars? Some guitars I can play very well on but others, I just flat out cant play worth shit. Title: Re: Difference between American Fender and Mexican Fender?
