Title: Dr.Dre - Detox
Post by: Malcolm on July 23, 2008, 08:56:54 PM
Dr. Dre Confirms ?Detox? Nearly Done, Could Come Later This Year

Dr. Dre?s Detox could be out as soon as this November or December, the rapper/producer told USA Today. Dre?s prot?g? Snoop Dogg recently said the album was completed, and now the Doctor is confirming the report. ?I?m just now ? over the last couple of months ? starting to feel that it?s going to be right and it?s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it,? Dr. Dre said. ?In a perfect world, I?m shooting for a November or December release.? It?s been nine years since Dre?s second proper solo album 2001. The album will reportedly feature a new crew of musicians, as well as beats via live drums. ?We have an entirely new thing going with the drums that?s incredible, and we?re still developing that,? Dre said. Lil? Wayne, Jay-Z and Nas are all expected to make guest appearances. Detox may be Dre?s swan song, however, as the producer said ?I?m going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I?m going to stay in the studio and produce.?

Not a big rap fan but im pumped for this album...Dres the man

In a time of crappy wanna be "playaz" that put out one awful album after another, Dre's return will be very welcome

I hope he puts them all in his place.

When I was growing up, rap was the shit.  I'll admit to that, I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks.

It's just so bad right now.  I wanna hear about the struggles these guys face, the real word.

Thank Axl for the underground.

Dr. Dre, Jay-Z Collaboration 'Under Pressure' Leaks

Back in April during an interview with CNBC, Dr. Dre first told fans that "Under Pressure"  -- his collaborative track with Jay-Z -- would be released in a few weeks. Now, not quite as promised, an unfinished version of the track hit the net today (June 16).

"The long-await to 'Detox' trick, 'cause maybe I don't want to stop, maybe I don't want to quit...maybe we need to breathe some life in this shit / maybe we are the life of this shit," Dre starts his verse over an elevating piano. "I smoke, I drink, I'm supposed to stop but I can't," he continues towards the end of the song.

"I don't know if it's the goose talking, but you know they say the liquor get the truth talking," Jay-Z spits on his verse. "I'm in this party, I'm up to no good / and I should be ducking this club, Tiger Woods." Jay also goes on to cite troubled sports player Gilbert Arenas, rapping, "All these little haters got me back with the nina / Got me bringing guns to work, Gilbert Arenas."

And while rumors are circulating that the nearly mythical "Detox" will now be released in 2011, Dre told fans just two months ago, "I'm definitely putting an album out this year, finally, and I think everyone will be happy with it. I'm trying to finish this record, finally get it done and get it our and start promoting it."

Absolutely sick tune by the way and its not even the full length or quality

Message from Dre

Posted 6/17/2010 by IGA

"I want to set the record straight for everybody who's been waiting to hear my music.  The song that's on the internet is an incomplete song  that I'm still working on.  When it's ready, you'll be hearing it from  me."

The beats kinda overshadow the song... i think they should be less loud... seems like a good song other that, nothing like "2001" but still a good song

Was blown away by "I Need a DR" at the Grammys

could not wait to go on Itunes and DL It

did and listened in horror as the song kicked in.....

WOW this production is fucking terrible on this. Whole thing is muddy, sounds underwater, everything sounds jumbled together and its a giant clusterfuck.

song breaths and kicks ass live..... Pro tools fucks up yet another great one.

Maybe Dre has lost his touch.

Bottom line is, this new material has nothing on 2001. 2001 was very superior, at least on the singles...

And whats the deal of having Dr.Dre singing on a mostly Eminem song... "i need a doctor". I thought this was Dr.Dre's album, not Eminem. Dre only appears in the end of the song WTF  :nervous:

Have you listened to a Dr. Dre album before?  It's always 90% other artists, Dre knows his strength is much more in producing than rapping.  He's not even on Xxplosive at all and that's easily one of the top 5 songs on 2001!  The Chronic was practically a Snoop album.

Anyways, I love the songs.  Not as good as the best stuff from the old albums, but better than the worst.  I had heard the leak of "I Need A Doctor" before the Grammy performance, so I guess I was already used to the production, I think it sounds different in a good way.  That live performance was awesome though... Eminem is on fire lately, hope they do some shows together this year.

You're actually right on that, but to me Xplosive is not even among the best songs on that album.
I like exactly the songs where Dre sings on them like "Still Dre", "The Watcher", "What's The Difference", "Forgot about Dre", "Next Episode", those are my absolute favorite on that album and i love Dr. Dre's voice, so im hoping to see songs were he sings more than other artists.
I think its a bad move though to put a song where he hardly sings on national TV, i agree on the production thing, i love Dr.Dre as a producer the most.
I guess i was expecting like a "Still Dre" single or a "California Love" kind of single, where Dre sings like more than half of the song.

Kush is not bad, but i think Akon kinda ruins it, and the work done there is just different, its too futuristic for me, i like something more simple, you don't need all this kind of effects to make a good song, but then again, i was born listening to traditional Rock and Hip Hop, so i might be a little bit closed minded to that.

"I need a doctor" comes close to what i would expect in a song from Dr.Dre, its more simple than "Kush". The only thing is Dr.Dre only singing like 30 seconds on the song... i would prefer a half Dre half Eminem song, or Eminem singing those last 30 seconds.

I love "I need a DR" don't get me wrong... but i do question that type of song..

if u listen to the lyrics.. it really paints Dr Dre in a terrible light. He is a production genius, the best at what he does.. but listening to that... it really busts that illusion of his genius and greatness by showing him in a shitty way.

imagine if Tommy or Robin or Bucket or Dizzy wrote a song about Axl saying how he couldn't write lyrics or come up with a decent melody etc.....

the song shows Dre isn't some eccentric "Perfectionist" but just couldn't come up with anything.

think if CD took so long cause Axl was Dre like........

i don't agree with the lyrics part. I think the song shows the most sensitive Dr.Dre we've ever seen. It shows his soft side.

I think the song is a retrospective to his life. Its when comes that day, after all those years, and you actually feel and realize what happened, and you think about it, and the sensitive and soft part of you takes over for a bit.

In the first part of the video you see Dre thinkin about the things that have been haunting him for awhile and almost burst into tears.

I think he's trying to show why he felt so undecided and so lost during the years and why it took so many years for him to address it. He's showing what he had to overcome and that he had a lot of things going on, and how is life changed over the years so fast.

The song delivers a great message, and the concept is actually very inteligent.
