Well I haven't heard it yet but rick said it's a heavy rock album, i've got a feeling it's like 'like a dog' part 2.

Last tracks seems to be a reggae/dub version of the title track 8)

A very fun rock record.  Short songs - many around the 3:00 mark or less - but full of great hooks and melodies.  "Circle" and "Drove" really stand out to me at this point.   It's great to see (and hear) how prolific Izzy has become...

I'm pysched!  Drove is killer!

But....I just want some reassurance before I buy it that it wont be remixed and then released again...somebody reassure me please!

There isn't any official statement/comment from Izzy, band members or record studios about the record as of yet. I personally think its the final mix and it sounds great. sounds like the same as the 2nd remix of "miami.

okay, I took the plunge and dove in, head first into 'high rise and all those dreams, concrete and palm trees is all I see'    ;)

Not a full review, just some of the songs I liked on first listen:

Easy: I like Izzy's 'breathy' voice, I dont think I've heard this type of vocals from him before, digging it!

Drove: sends shivers down my spine, this could easily fit on an old Guns record, imo...  Who is playing lead guitar? Sounds amazing

I Know:  not hard rock, but very cool and classic Izzy.

Raggadubbacrete: cooler than the title track. From what I can make out of the lyrics, they seem to be poking fun at some guy.

Overall, pretty solid!

The man who is playing lead guitar on this album and past album, no other then Rick Richards. He was in Georgia Satellites and still is.
I like the intro of "I Know"  .....1,2 son of a...

Going back out on the track yeah hear that engine rhyme

Do you tonight, sun comes over once again
You and I, have the same time

Take it easy, take it easy
Take it easy, take it easy
Take it easy, take it easy
Take it easy, take it easy

It's really around, through the seasons of our life
All thing's allright, once we're in

Concrete (04:57)

Well he, ended up here
Came from, way out past there
And he, tried to make it something
And he, knew he had the way

But that six string was a ticket
Out of town and for a ride

To those, high rise and all those dreams
Concrete and palm trees, is all he'd seen
To those, high rise and all those dreams
Concrete and palm trees, is all he'd seen

Well he, met all bad kids
And he, fell in just fine
And all, match the road to him
He was, right there on time

But he tasted and he smoked it
Didn't know what it was for sure

To those, high rise and all those dreams
Concrete and palm trees, is all he'd seen
To those, high rise and all those dreams
Concrete and palm trees, all he'd seen

Well he, end up in jail
In a, 10 by 10 cell
Feeling, full jones withdrawl
Feeling, a lot like hell

But that six string was a ticket
Out of this mess, and our life

Well he, finally made and wound up clean
Concrete and palm trees, were pretty sweet
Well he, finally made and wound up clean
Concrete and palm trees, were pretty sweet

Pretty sweet
Ah ha ha
Pretty sweet
Ah ha ha
Pretty sweet
Ah ha ha
Pretty sweet
Ah ha ha

Drove (04:04)

Drove all night into the sunrise
Drove all night into the dawn
Drove all night into the morning
Drove all night into the dawn

Went all the way down, went all the way down
Went all the way down
Heading you give in the, got thru the canyons and
Engine's roaring, firing at the night

La la la, la la
La la la, la la

Drove all night into the sunrise
Drove all night into the dawn
Drove all night into the morning
Drove all night into the dawn

Went all the way down, went all the way down
Went all the way down
This still immerging, an optic journey and
Gearbox crying, thru the night

Went all the way down, went all the way down
Went all the way down
The sunrise's coming up, just pass the ocean
Dust that's poring out, from the way

*car sounds*

There's some stuff I'm pretty sure is right, but also there are some holes and I filled it in with what it sounded like even if it didn't make any sense :P So if you all have suggestions post away and I'll edit the lyrics :)

I think 'Circle' is about him driving races on a oval dirt track, 'Easy' about the good life, 'Concrete' about his live in a nutshell, 'Drove' about a sightseeing drive or something, 'Ship' about his boat that has a hole in it ;D 'G.B.' about the drugs hell, 'Knuckleheads' about someone being bullied and 'I Know' about travelling but never staying away too long cause he misses his girlfriend/wife.

Izzy IMO was the best pure songwriter that GNR had. I love Izzy and just about all he's done. Maybe he and Axl will write again someday. They're in that Mick/Keith Tyler/Perry mold.

Lyrics and vocals were never Izzys strong points. :hihi:

The album is good though. Nothing spectacular, but a good ol' rock n' roll record.

Can anyone make this pick bigger and the the photo being clear as possible? the dimensions need to be 200x200. I'm trying to have the cover albums in the media player the same size.

Also I'll be updating the photos/ and adding/updating the bio

Just downloaded it and gave it a first listen.

Good album, with a straight up rock n' roll vibe (well...and a reggae number, of course) and some of the best guitar work I've heard on an Izzy release in a while.

Hey, if you get it can you pass it along?  I entered the new album in rateyourmusic.com, but didn't have large enough cover art to upload.  Anything over 150x150 I could use.

You really think so?
I've always like his lyrics Dust n Bones; Pretty Tied Up; 14 years
which have pretty good points of view actually, but that's my opinion, also I rather like Izzy's voice than Duff, but hey who cares at the end it sounds pretty good  ;D

Izzy has hit or miss lyrics i think.  After his first solo album and parts of the 2nd, i think lyrically a lot of his songs haven't been all that great to me for the most part.  I still need to get this album.

Like A Dog is the hardest one but still it's heavy rock, one of his heaviest after Like A Dog a bit similar to Ride On.  Only 1 acoustic and 1 ragga track, the rest are rockers.. all the songs heave a lot of single note guitar melodies running through the songs which isn't really on Izzy's previous stuff. Kinda reminded me of Hanoi Rocks a bit. Eventhough it's not really diverse compared to Miami it's got clearer production and is a better imo.  You just need to check it out to make up up your own mind ;)

Just downloaded it--I like it. Basicly, it sounds a lot like his other CDs, although each one is different enough to keep up interest. Still say Ride On is his masterpiece.

^ Been listening to Ride On for the past few week in the car on my way to work, it's a great album to listen to when driving 8)

Ride On is one of my favorites too, imo it features Taz's best drumming work on all albums and Rick's finest lead work. It's also get a nice raw sound and has got a lot of diversity, in a way it's kinda like 117 degrees only a bit shorter and harder
