Duff was on 790 the Ticket. It is a sports radio station and he was promoting a website called Nutssies or something like that which is some new business venture he is a part of. The host of the show had no clue about Duff's background but Duff had a couple of cool GNR stories I had not heard before.

He said GNR was in Bogota,Colombia and that they got to their hotel when all of a sudden they got a knock on the door. He says they had been escorted to their hotel by the local police authorities in Bogota and that one of them brought them a package from Pablo Escobar. If you do not know who Pablo Escobar was... he was one of the biggest drug lords in the eighties. He was killed in 1989. (Coincidently I also read an article today on Escobar that said he was the 20th richest man in the world back in 1987 or 1989) worth 3 billion at the time. The article said that Escobar lived in a 4,000 acre ranch in Bogota that cost 63 million back in 1987. Anyways when they opened the package it was package of cocaine. The officer told GNR it was from Escobar and that they had no choice but accept. Duff said that they were freightened because they thought it was some kind of set up to get them arrested. Nevertheless, they took the package.

Another story he said was that when GNR arrived in Argentina they were also escorted to their hotel by local authorities. Upon arrival there was about 10,000 fans waiting outside the hotel for GNR. When they got to their room they turned on the TV they were watching footage of outside their hotel of all the fans. All of sudden they see police pull up to the hotel as if something was happening downstairs. Then Duff gets a call from security saying that if they had any drugs to flush them down the toilet because the Federales (Police) were about to raid their rooms and search for drugs. Sure enough they came into their rooms guns blazing and they asked where the drugs were at that they planned to sell. They said that they had no drugs. However, the Federales were looking to get paid off otherwise they were going to arrest all members of GNR. Duff said that the promoters had to pay $30,000 to the Federales so they would leave them alone.

Interesting stories.  So Pablo Escobar was a fan of GNR?  Has there been a movie made about him?  I know someone played him in the movie "Blow".  He was a scary and powerful man.
