This whole thing is happening in about a week.

So a little reminder is in place.

Buy the t-shirt. It's for a good cause!

And you might win stuff by doing so.  : ok:

I would just like to say "Thanks" Ron for being involved in Rock against Diabetes.  I have lost two of my grandparents to this, and my father was diagnosed about 17 years ago. Although he takes wonderful care of himself he is loosing his eyesight as we speak. It is one of the causes out there I heavily support amoung others. With that said, I am leaving this conversation to go ask my husband If we can go, only six days left, I love being spontanious, wish me luck!! ;D

Lemme know if you can make it - and all the best to you and your family   :)

I'll be jamming the end of each night with friends, playing AC/DC, Aerosmith, Kiss, Thin Lizzy, GNR, Metallica, Halen, Queen - will be a big clusterfuck but a fun one...   Aug. 22nd & 23rd at the Rox Club on Dean Martin Drive.   Tix are at http://www.rockagainstdiabetes.org/mainshow.htm (http://www.rockagainstdiabetes.org/mainshow.htm)

The T-shirt thing is still goin' on - ya buy a $20 Rock Against Diabetes / Bumble shirt and money goes to charity.  Every time someone buys a shirt, we put their name into a drawing - at the show I'm gonna pick a random name and that person wins a ton of stuff from the show sponsors.  A Gibson Les Paul (with hardshell case,) a bunch of Atari games, a speaker cab, DiMarzio pickups, signed merch from the event, a 3-hour guitar lesson with me at the Gibson showroom in NYC and hotel for a night in Times Square.  We might be able to cover airline tickets also, if enough people buy shirts and money can be put towards it without making a dent in what's to be donated.  Info at http://www.rockagainstdiabetes.org/bfootbfg.htm (http://www.rockagainstdiabetes.org/bfootbfg.htm) (when ya watch the vid on that page, disregard the part about DeepRockDrive streaming the show - they're no longer doing that...)

Thanks so much to all the GN'R forum members for that have spread the word and gave support.  Will let the kids in the children's hospital know that the GN'R community was there for them - you're good people    :)

Ron

Thanks so much Ron for all involved, unfortunately for me it doesn't seem I will be making this trip due to a boating incident with one of my children this weekend, all will be fine in due time, motherhood first ;) I wish this charity all the best and I will be supporting you from behind the scenes this time. Best Wishes to all involved.

I bought a t-shirt.

Which brings me to a slightly off topic (but I'm not sure where else I'd ask it) question:

Are there plans for another HTGTH T-Shirt "extravaganza"?

Are there plans for another HTGTH T-Shirt "extravaganza"?

Not like previously with deadlines etc.

It'll most likely be handed by one of those companies who print on demand.

I live in Vegas and am gonna try to be there, but am still awaiting word from the rock against diabetes website as to wether or not I can buy tickets at the door, because the ticket link only brings you to a pay pal account. I don't have pay pal or a credit card, but I gots plenty of cash!  so I hope it works out, tickets are only 37 bucks for the show.

EDIT Sweet, just received word from the organizer that I can buy tickets at the door, I'm there!

I'm pretty excited, first time seeing BBF not with Gn'R. I'm not going to tonight's preshow though, just tomorrows show. I'm surprised though, theres like zero advertising for this thing around town. I don't beleive KOMP 92.3 has mentioned it once. It's at a really tiny place too, which makes it all the more cooler. I'll try take pictures!

A little on the band from N. Dakota that won the contest, Starving For Gravity...

Today and Saturday, the band will perform at the ROX Club in Las Vegas, opening an event called Rock Against Diabetes, a gig they won in a contest that began with about 1,500 legitimate artist entries and ended in a battle-of-the-bands-meets-?American Idol? type finale in L.A. At RAD, they?ll perform and share the stage with Bumblefoot, guitarist Ron Thal from Guns N? Roses, and others. Lindenberg will play in Bumblefoot?s All-Star Band.

Enter 79 Volts Management, in the person of Joshua Weesner......

?There were a couple of things that separated them from other bands out here,? Weesner said. ?They have a very distinctive front man in Lucas. Their songwriting is head and shoulders above a lot of the bands out here. And they have a lot of talent in what they are doing.?

Weesner said Starving For Gravity was getting interest from industry types who?ve been in the business a long time and who?ve worked with bands such as Guns N? Roses and Aerosmith.

PRESS RELEASE

Starving For Gravity: From Bar Band to Buzz Band

Wed, 10 Sep 2008

A few months later, things turned around. The band started winning contests that raised their profile, including the LAMN JAM Rock Music Contest and a worldwide competition for a spot in a Rock Against Diabetes concert in Las Vegas, NV. There, SFG got to play with rock stars and superstars, even joining Guns N' Roses' guitarist, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal on stage to play "Sweet Child O' Mine." Thal praised SFG, "Seeing those guys playing their hearts out, and being there for the right reason, was inspiring... They were the positive spirit of the show."
